* CaliforniaDoubling: Or rather, Australia Doubling--the desert scenes were mostly shot at [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munga-Thirri_National_Park Munga-Thirri National Park]] in western Queensland, while the rest of the production took place entirely in sound stages at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast.

** In the Japanese dub, Creator/KoichiYamadera, who voiced the Genie in the dub of the [[Disney/{{Aladdin}} animated film]], [[https://natalie.mu/eiga/news/325334 reprise that role again]]. He had dubbed over Will Smith in a couple movies such as ''Film/IAmLegend''.

** Creator/AvanJogia, Creator/RizAhmed, and Creator/DevPatel were considered for the part of Aladdin before Creator/MenaMassoud was cast.

** Creator/GabrielIglesias was the second choice for the part of The Genie before Creator/WillSmith was cast.

* FakeNationality: None of the actors are Levantine Arabs,[[note]]The original film notes that the fictional kingdom the story is set in lies along the river Jordan.[[/note]] with most of the main cast being played by Western (e.g. Canadian, Dutch, German, American) actors of Middle Eastern and North African ancestry. What's more in "Never Had a Friend Like Me", the Carpet does the Carlton Dance.
* CastingGag:
** At one point in the film, Dalia pretends to be Princess Jasmine and does a very poor job. Her actress Nasim Pedrad had previously played the character in a ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-2fnZfK9Lg sketch.]]
** This is the [[Film/IntoTheWoods second time]] Billy Magnussen has played a bumbling prince in a Disney live-action musical. And both times the character is an AdaptationalNiceGuy compared to his original portrayal.

** Gabriel Iglesias was in the running to play the Genie.
** Creator/DevPatel, Creator/AvanJogia, Creator/RizAhmed, Achraf Koutet, George Kosturos and Adeel Alam were all considered to portray the title role.
** Mario Filio was originally considered to play the Genie in the Latin American Spanish dub before Disney selected Arturo Mercado Jr. for the role.
** There were rumors that Gilbert Gottfried would be reprising his role as Iago, like Frank Welker as Abu. But Alan Tudyk ended up voicing the parrot.
** Will Smith turned down the role of Holt Farrier in ''{{Film/Dumbo 2019}}'' so he could star in this instead.

* DuelingWorks: When the film was released in Adelaide, Australia, the Broadway version was also playing at the local Festival Center, leading to confusing advertisements that shows either Will Smith or Michael James Scott as the Genie.

* In the Hungarian dub, Károly Kassai reprises his role as Iago.
