** Late into the story, Durkon has a heartfelt reunion with his mother Sigdi after being exiled from the Dwarven lands for years. The party assumes that Sigdi had no way of knowing of Durkon's whereabouts since he was immediately tossed out on short notice. However, it's then revealed that Durkon had been keeping contact with ''Sending'' (the magical equivalent of a video message), and had in fact talked with her last week.

Whilst the doctor is uncertain of how he can treat her, seeing as she has a bill of perfect health, his assistant produces an alternative theory based around phenology - simply put, the idea that her issue might have something to do with a distortion in the area dedicated to secret-keeping. * SurvivedTheBeginning: Half the Linear Guild was lost the first time they met the [=OotS=] gang, in [[A whole goblin raiding party is wiped out killing many, many characters in [[Recap/TheOrderOfTheStickDungeonCrawlinFools "Dungeon Crawlin' Fools"]]. Since then, the three survivors have consistently made it away while their newer members tend to get PutOnABus or killed. (Though other characters have not been so lucky, notably poor Miko. And even [Nale and Zzdri, one of the three aforementioned survivors plus another original member who [[TheBusCameBack came back]], have bought it lately.)

* SurpriseInspectionRuse: Provides the page image, which is also a DoubleSubverted example. Elan and Haley are stymied trying to sneak into GenreSavvy Tarquin's prison this way because he has a section on this trope in his guards' manual. ** In an attempt to stop the Order from thwarting her plans, the goddess Hel reveals that Belkar's cat picked up a [[https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1081.html deadly disease]] during their recent adventures in the desert, and thanks to her powers it has now spread to the entire group and everyone else on the airship.
