** Hyper Fangirl manipulates his need to think with his dick by distracting him with TestosteronePoisoning comics, Playboy, and violent video games. He ends up seeing right through her when she fucks up regarding the ''Film/{{Transformers}}'' franchise.

* TheJeeves: Three have popped up. One called Carl in the ''WebVideo/{{Kickassia}}'' review to give him a drink, and another called Bernard in ''Film/TheAdventuresOfSharkboyAndLavaGirl'' to give a joke on a silver platter and leave when Critic wants to be bratty. Another one with yet another name, Garçon (who snarks that his name means “boy” and Critic is an idiot for calling him that), appears in the ''Film/OsmosisJones'' review to give him a menu of bad jokes.

* JustJokingJustification: While Critic certainly is no doubt a character different from Doug with his own evolution, [[http://lindsayetumbls.tumblr.com/post/85265948108/tgwtgsecrets-its-only-a-character-for-years Lindsay]], [[https://twitter.com/thelindsayellis/status/463735541926596608 Kyle and other producers]] have criticized the “Critic's a character and so you can never get offended by anything he says” excuse that a lot of fans trot out.

** While there's plenty of misogyny, TestosteronePoisoning being treated as a bad thing, and Rob plays “Impractical Joe”, there's very little rape mentioned in the ''Film/MadMaxFuryRoad'' review considering how widespread it is across the franchise. Most likely for the best. Also Critic is just captured and tied up for a few minutes of {{fanservice}}, not tortured like Max was.

** Much like the film, the ''Film/DemolitionMan'' review can't decide whether it wants to mock TestosteronePoisoning (it starts by having him eat a heart) or celebrate it (female-heavy tumblr is an AcceptableTarget for example).

* HurricaneOfEuphemisms: In the review of ''Film/TheRoom'', when Lisa asks if Johnny is dead [[AskAStupidQuestion as he lies with his blood pooling on the floor]]:

* LoopholeAbuse: He got a lot of request to review ''Film/TheRoom'', but it was made in 2003 - too recently for the "nostalgia" subject. Fortunately, the Critic's future self turned up to take him ahead in time so he could do it.

* LostEpisode: Old vs. New on ''Literature/TheWarOfTheWorlds''. As confirmed in the Next Top 11 Fuck-Ups, he decided not to do the video because he felt neither movie held up well enough. Thankfully, [[Film/TheRoom Tommy Wiseau]] sued them so they had an excuse to get out of it.

** We see an adorable seventeen year old Critic in ''Film/ScoobyDoo'', and learn that the snapping point in his TraumaCongaLine - the one that turns him into a cynical manchild who shoots at anything annoying and feels like he's worth very little - hasn't happened yet. Prom night should just around the corner, don't you think?

* InstrumentalThemeTune: A lyric-less version of "The Review Must Go On", used for all reviews from 2013 onward.
* InsultBackfire: Hyper takes being called a murderous psychopath by a girl well enough to take it as a compliment and give her a hug.

* TheInternetIsForPorn: Pops up in his reviews of ''WesternAnimation/OnceUponAForest'' and ''Milk Money''. And when he reviews Ponyo and sees Ponyo's [[TinyGuyHugeGirl human father and spirit-of-the-ocean mother]] holding the father in her hands, he comments macrophiles are enjoying this before telling the viewers to get away from the search tab to look up what he meant.

*** It happens again with the beginning of ''Film/TheWickerMan2006''. Both Donnie and Critic hummed "The Review Must Go On" and then got freaked out by weird things happening.

** Like Critic reaching out to Douchey in his third fuck up lists because he was lonely, the only reason why Tamara missed Hyper in the ''Christmas Story II'' vlog is because she's tired of being humiliated and the only girl. In both instances the former usually finds the latter horribly obnoxious.
* InterplayOfSexAndViolence: Parodied in his review of ''Film/PearlHarbor'', attributing Creator/MichaelBay's successes to him filming non-sexual shots like they were porn, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything ending in mind-blowing explosions]].

** Lampshaded in ''Film/TheAdventuresOfSharkboyAndLavaGirl'' when present Critic sees something [[invoked]] SurpriseCreepy and calls Critic from twenty minutes ago, the past Critic gets confused about how they're even doing this.

* JackassGenie: In his ''Film/{{Kazaam}}'' review, the Critic wishes that the movie never existed. This ends up with him bashing ''Film/CitizenKane'', [[UnacceptableTargets much to the audience's displeasure]].

** In the ''Film/LesMiserables'' review, Kyle and Paw get in Critic's personal space and put him on the spot like Brent and Chick did in ''Film/MoulinRouge'' for the “El Tango De Roxanne” number. He gets out of it easier this time by having a middling opinion.

** In ''Film/LesMiserables'', Critic sing-shouting to Floss that he's got it covered with his current crew and doesn't need any more help was seen as less talking about him, Paw and Kyle, but more about how isolated he's been since he got Rachel and Malcolm.

* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Critic attracts it, even from people frustrated with him. Two good examples being Paw in the ''Film/LesMiserables'' review, and Sage in the ''Film/TheGuyver'' review.

* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Referenced in his review of ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretOfNimh II'', in which one of the characters says something about changing his underwear despite not even wearing pants.

** He also seems to single out and adore certain performances in bad movies for being seemingly intentionally hamtastic, such as Bullseye in {{Film/Daredevil}} and Linus/Minus in Film/TheAdventuresOfSharkboyAndLavagirl.

* LockAndLoadMontage: He tools up with a pistol, knuckle dusters, cricket bat, padded jacket and SWAT helmet to...review ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretOfNimh 2''. "BRING IT ON!"
