* After Bright has to go to sick bay, Mirai takes over as captain. The only problem is that she isn't qualified for such a position and as a result makes calls that hinder the base more than help it. At the end of it she's a blubbering mess begging for Bright [[spoiler: and Ryu]] to tell her what to do.
* Poor Miharu. [[spoiler: Sure she was a Zeon spy but you can't help but feel bad for her when she [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone realizes the impact of her actions]] and then when she tries to make things right, she ends up dying]].

** As the story goes, the storyboards for [[spoiler:Miharu's death]] caused Ichiro Itano, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and Tomino himself to begin crying... and Tomino's the guy who drew the damn storyboards in the first place!

A young girl who is implied in the Origin series to have been a victim of some form of trafficking, she is rescued by Char and sent to training as a newtype pilot. Later she encounters Amuro and forms a bond with him, putting her into a solid LoveTriangle, with both of her interests heavily invested in opposing sides of the war. As she herself puts it, Amuro simply came into her life too late to be able to make a difference - implying that she is aware she's on the wrong side, but is unable to leave due to UndyingLoyalty. Her anguish at the thought of either Amuro or Char dying leads to her sacrificing herself to prevent Char from being killed. Char and Amuro are both traumatized with grief due to her loss.]]

* The ending of the original series: after his bittersweet victory over his rival Char, Amuro was losing his will to live. Then he finally realized how much his shipmates cared for him; he escaped from the enemy fortress and battle, and found said shipmates, as he tearfully reunited with his adopted family.

* 'Coming Home': What starts out as a heartwarming reunion with his mother, quicly takes a turn for the worst when Amuro shoots a soldier resulting in his mother [[WhatTheHellHero scolding him]]. Amuro takes this to mean that his mother doesn't [[{{Wangst}} love him anymore]]. Though they seem to have patched things up by the end of the episode, the last scene of the episode is his mother crying into the distance.
