* For most of the game, Dail is a bombastic KnightTemplar who hounds the heroes as they get in his way. Except in the intro, where it's shown why he's this way. Brevon layed seige to Shuigang Palace and beheaded the king. [[ForcedToWatch Right in front of Dail]]. Dail is rightly horrified and in tears as his life and family is torn apart before his eyes. Then Brevon [[BrainwashedAndCrazy brainwashes him into his puppet]], and all we hear is a scream. For the entire game, he helps with Brevon's dirty work in the name of avenging his father, and doesn't realize he's working for his killer. And there was nothing he could do to stop it.

** The whole situation gets even worse in hindsight. As revealed in the sequel, Milla was traumatized by the experience to the point that years later, when she hears even the ''possibility'' from Serpentine that Brevon might return, [[TraumaButton it all comes rushing back]] and [[HeroicBsod the poor girl breaks down in absolute terror]]. It's then also revealed that she's an extra-terrestrial who comes from the same planet as her tormentors, leading to [[IAmAMonster her horror at the possibility that she's just a weapon rather than an actual person]]. ''Then'', while it fortunately fails due to Milla's HeroicWillpower and ThePowerOfFriendship, Serpentine tries to brainwash her by having Syntax use a "Resonance Link" on her, putting her through the very same trauma all over again.

** Milla's reaction is the biggest gut-punch; [[TroubledFetalPosition curling into a ball]] and [[InelegantBlubbering covering her face while shaking and sobbing]].

The tears Carol visibly sheds after ''that'' boss battle when you play as her can pretty much lead you to shedding tears of your own with her, too.
