!!The Shinning

In a parody of ''Film/TheShining'' (specifically the 1980 film adaptation), The Simpsons are the new winter caretakers for Mr. Burns' obviously haunted lodge. Unbeknownst to the family, Burns and Smithers have taken all the beer from the lodge and disconnected the cable TV. Meanwhile, Bart runs into Groundskeeper Willie, who discovers he has psychic abilities called the [[strike:"shining"]] "Shinning". Knowing what's bound to happen, Willie tells Bart to call him with the Shinning if Homer goes crazy.

It doesn't take long for Homer to realize there's no TV or beer in the lodge, and he naturally starts to lose his mind, especially after Moe (as a ghost) shows up and convinces him to kill his family. This culminates in Marge walking into Homer's RoomFullOfCrazy...

->'''Homer:''' So what do you think, Marge? All I need is a title. I was thinking along the lines of "No TV and no beer make Homer...something something."
->'''Marge:''' "...Go crazy"?
->'''Homer:''' DON'T MIND IF I DO!

After Marge manages to lock Homer up in a pantry, Homer is dragged out by ghost!Moe and several other ghouls. He continues his insanity by tracking down his family with an axe. After Bart uses his "Shinning" to call Willie (who just gets axed in the back for his trouble), Lisa finally calms Homer down by giving him Willie's portable TV. The family gathers together in the snow to enjoy some quality television time and all is well...until they're frozen in place during the Tony Awards.

!!Time and Punishment

Homer gets his hand stuck in the toaster during breakfast, and he breaks the appliance in his attempt to get it off. While "fixing" it, Homer somehow manages to turn it into a time machine, which takes him back to prehistoric times. Homer remembers his father's advice never to touch anything in the past, lest he mess things up for the future. Unfortunately, he accidentally squishes a bug, just as the toaster sends him back to the present.

Homer finds that the present is seemingly normal...until he finds out that Ned Flanders has taken over the world and made everyone his slaves. Having heard Homer insult him, the Simpsons are sent to the "Re-Neducation Center", where they are scheduled for a lobotomy. Homer escapes, grabs the toaster, and lands back in the prehistoric times. Homer squishes a fish, and he lands in a present where Bart and Lisa are giants about to squish ''him''. Homer goes back, accidentally spreads a cold that kills all the dinosaurs, and ends up in a perfect world where his family's rich and well-behaved, but no one's heard of a donut. Panicked that his favorite treat doesn't exist, Homer heads back to the toaster (just before it starts raining donuts outside). Homer ends up in another timeline where Willie offers to help him, but gets axed in the back by an evil Maggie.

Back in the past, Homer gets fed up and starts beating the crap out of everything he sees, which results in several alternate timelines in a row. Finally, exhausted, Homer lands in one that appears completely normal and safe. Then his family starts eating their breakfast with long, lizard-like tongues. Close enough.

!!Nightmare Cafeteria

Principal Skinner notices that detention has become ridiculously overcrowded. Lunchlady Doris complains about the substandard meat she's been forced to use due to budget cuts (Grade F Meat, which, according to the box, is made from newspaper, circus animals, and filler). Just as the two wonder if there's a solution to both their problems, Jimbo trips Doris, getting the pot of sauce she was carrying spilled all over him. Getting an idea, Skinner sends Jimbo to "assist" Doris in the kitchen, where she kills him and serves him up as "Sloppy Jimboes" the next day. The teachers gush over the delicious new food, and when Skinner lets them in on what it's made of, they go along with the plan.

Bart and Lisa start catching onto the truth behind the strange disappearances of students at school, and the unusual food they're being served. When Marge proves to be no help in stopping the cannibalism (and with very few students left), Bart, Lisa and Milhouse decide that they need to escape from the school. They're spotted by a blood-soaked Lunchlady Doris, who chases after them with an eggbeater. Willie attempts to save the kids, but he gets axed in the back by Skinner. Skinner and Doris corner the kids over a giant blender, where Milhouse falls in. It looks like Lisa and Bart are next...

...when Bart wakes with a start. It was all just a crazy nightmare, and the rest of the family is there to comfort him. Marge assures him there's nothing to be afraid of--"except that fog that turns people inside-out" Just then, the fog seeps through the window and turns the family's bodies inside-out. Everyone panics, but then bursts into a Halloween-themed version of "One" from ''Theatre/AChorusLine''. No, we don't know why, either.

Lunchlady Doris complains about the substandard meat she's been forced to use due to budget cuts.

!!Treehouse of Horror V contains examples of:

*ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: Mr. Burns' lodge was built on an IndianBurialGround, and was host to several witch burnings, Satanic rituals, and John Denver Christmas specials. Homer is only creeped out by John Denver.
*AxCrazy: Homer, quite literally, in "The Shinning"
*BadFuture: Most of the futures Homer ends up creating in "Time and Punishment". Zigzagged with the "perfect" reality: The Simpson family is rich, Bart is well-behaved, Patty and Selma are dead...but no one's ever heard of a donut. However, just as Homer leaves in panic, it starts raining donuts.
*BrickJoke: The family accidentally leaves Grandpa behind at the gas station on their way to the lodge. During Homer's attempt to reenact the famous "Here's Johnny!" moment from ''The Shining'', Grandpa shows up at the lodge with his suitcase.
*ButterflyOfDoom: The entire premise of "Time and Punishment"
*ComicallyMissingThePoint: Marge, in regards to Willie being axed in the back (the first time).
-->'''Marge:''' Oh my!...I hope that rug was Scotchgarded.
*FantasticallyIndifferent: Mr. Burns, in regards to the elevator full of blood.
-->'''Mr. Burns''': Hm, that's strange...the blood usually gets off at the second floor.
*HedgeMaze: In "The Shinning", obviously. Bart "finds" a shortcut with a hedge trimmer.
*HumanPopsicle: [[spoiler: The Simpson family, at the end of "The Shinning"]]
*PsychicPowers: "The Shinning". They don't do much good.
*RunningGag: Willie taking an axe to the back while trying to rescue someone in all three segments.
-->'''Willie:''' Ach, I'm really bad at this...
*ShoutOut: Homer runs into [[RockyAndBullwinkle Mr. Peabody and Sherman]] while time-travelling.
*TakeThat: To the Tony Awards. "Urge to kill...rising..."
*TimeTravel: Oh, take a guess.
*WholePlotReference: "The Shinning" is one to ''TheShining''
-->'''Willie:''' Ya read my thoughts! Ya got...''the Shinnin'''!
-->'''Bart:''' You mean ''"shining"''.
