* TakeThat: On Apu's reincarnation chart, one of his past lives was a "clod" (Alfred E. Neumann from ''MAD'' magazine) and one of his future reincarnations is assistant to ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'' executive producer, creator, and showrunner Creator/LorneMichaels.

* WomanScorned: Manjula doesn’t respond well when she finds out that Apu cheated on her. She initially kicks him out of the house and was prepared to divorce him. She decides to not divorce and instead subject him to a list she constructed with some of the items being rather mean-spirited.

* BackingAwaySlowly: Homer does this when he tries to return the dented keg and witnesses Apu and the squishee delivery girl having sex in the stockroom. He walks all the way back from the Kwik-e-mart to his house, where he falls asleep and dreams of himself backing away from Apu and the delivery girl again. He does this again in the last shot of the episode when Apu and Manjula reconcile and have sex. This time, he hops backwards on a ladder, presumably all the way home.

* BookEnd: Apu's infidelity is discovered by Homer and he backs out of the Kwik-E-Mart all the way home. The episode ends with him backing away from Apu and Manjula's apartment on a ladder after watching them in bed.
