Marge was not really a jerk in this episode as all she was trying to do was help Apu and Manjula and save their marriage. She was seen weeping over the affair when she was watching Apu’s wedding video

** Marge meddles in Manjula and Apu's failing marriage and manipulating them into reconciling.

Added DiffLines:

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Both Homer and Marge. While Homer accidentally caught Apu committing adultery and told Marge about it, they both handle it in a sloppy manner. They keep quiet about the affair until Manjula finds out and Marge’s attempt to get the couple to reconcile through a dinner party only made things worse when Manjula demanded a divorce from Apu.

* CliffhangerCopout: Downplayed; At the end of the second act, Manjula gives the divorce papers to Apu. At the start of the third act, Manjula is in the Divorce Law office, although she has second thoughts about the idea and decides to give Apu another chance under the condition he does all the tasks on the list.

* BaitAndSwitch: Homer tempts Barney, a recovering alcoholic, with some beer, saying one drink won't hurt. This sequence is deliberately set up to show Barney go on a drunken bender, not unlike what happened in "Deep Space Homer" (which was nonalcoholic champagne as well). When Barney finally drinks the beer... nothing happens.

* BookEnds: Apu's infidelity is discovered by Homer and he backs out of the Kwik-E-Mart all the way home. The episode ends with him backing away from Apu and Manjula's apartment on a ladder after watching them in bed.
