* BittersweetEnding: Whitman is convicted of second degree murder, however it's implied this only happened because Cutter deliberately manipulated a juror's attraction to Rubirosa. Although she doesn't bring her concerns to the judge for the sake of a conviction, she is VERY displeased with Cutter's actions.

Bastard Boyfriend has been rehauled into Fetishized Abuser (for then the narrative portrays an abuser as sexually desirable). Otherwise, it's an example of Domestic Abuser. If both people display toxic behaviors, it's Romanticized Abuse. If the romantic partner is an unpleasant person but not outright abusive, then they are just a Jerk Ass.

However, a judge rules Whitman's statement inadmissible due to the note Lupo sent. Cutter and Rubirosa interview witnesses and learn that Tito thought he'd killed Ann-Marie, so he went to look for somewhere to dump the body; Whitman realized Ann-Marie was still alive, and finished her off. Tito agrees a plea deal in exchange for his testimony against Whitman. Cutter has Rubirosa cross-examine Tito in order to get the jury's sympathy and she receives an anonymous email from an admiring juror.

* BastardBoyfriend: Tito

* FetishizedAbuser: Tito Cabassa forces his girlfriend Melinda Whitman to watch him rape and murder missing girls. This has caused her to become a ClingyJealousGirl for him -- feeling resentment against his victims and covering for him. On top of that, Tito is selfish enough to save himself at her expense.

* WildTeenParty: Ann-Marie had been to one shortly before her murder.

Rubirosa is later approached by Mr. Campbell, the juror with a crush on her. She realizes Cutter deliberately chose Campbell for the jury because Campbell liked her. Rubirosa accuses Cutter of "pimping (her) out to the jury"; but he says it's what they have to do to win cases, and points out Rubirosa previously took advantage of a witness's attraction to her. Cutter warns that if Rubirosa says anything to the judge, the case will be declared a mistrial and Whitman will go free. Rubirosa keeps quiet and the jury convicts, but Rubirosa is obviously very conflicted.
