* BadBoss: Invoked and played with; Jake deliberately gets a job as assistant manager at the amusement arcade where Holt works so that he can force Holt to do all the demeaning jobs, thus attempting to extort him for the return of the files on Figgis. '''''Coral Palms, Part 1''''' is the premiere episode of ''Series/BrooklynNineNine'''s fourth season.

It's been six months since Jake and Holt had to go into Witness Protection after crime boss Jimmy Figgis put out a hit on their lives. Now, under the pseudonyms "Greg" (Holt) and "Larry" (Jake), the two try and make themselves at home in the town of Coral Palms, Florida.

Holt finds adjusting to his new life to be fairly easy, cheerfully power walking with the neighborhood women while working at a kids' amusement arcade, bringing his typical drive to what should otherwise be a dead-end job. Jake, on the other hand, is miserable, having spent the past six months doing little more than crying in a hot tub while drinking beer and eating burritos. Things seem to be looking up for Jake, though, as he finds a job as an ATV salesman and starts cheering up.

As it turns out, though, Jake has begun his own investigation into the Figgis case while trying to keep it a secret from Holt and the US Marshal overseeing their case (guest star Creator/MayaRudolph).

Also, Jake and Holt have to deal with a local hick who's captured compromising video of the two of them and try and stop her before she uploads it onto the internet and potentially blowing their covers.

!!This episode provides examples of:

* AbsenteeActor: Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher are the only two regular cast members to appear in this episode.
* HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday: Captain Holt's cover is that he is a widower whose wife recently passed away. He doesn't do a very good job pretending that he's heterosexual.
* MoneyDearBoy: InUniverse. Jordan Crafton, the local woman who took the video of Jake and Holt being hit by go-karts wants to upload it onto the internet because the ad revenue from a viral video will let her buy a tanning bed for her house.
-->'''Jordan''': I don't care about you! A good viral video like that can fetch me ten ''grand''! And do you know what type of tanning bed I could get for that kind of money? A mid-range one!
-->'''Holt''': You know I'm still getting over the tragic loss of my wife. She was such a strong, ''female'', woman. With nice heavy breasts.
* RoomFullOfCrazy: Jake starts to create one in a storage unit. Holt initially disapproves but eventually joins Jake upon realizing that they're the only ones who'll put in the effort to actually close the case.
