[[folder: After Darkness]
* We learned in this short story just how badly the corruption of the Sunforge affected Lux Aurea. It shows that not only have creatures being corrupted and started killing everything at sight, but the same happened to the Sunfire elves themselves.
* During Karim's attempt to cure the Sunforge, Karim constantly flashbacks at his time as a child, where he used to play a flag game with his friend Osato. Back then, Osato would protect him while he brought the flag to the victory point. Now, Osato is protecting him from corrupted creatures and zombie-like people.
* The short story shows that Karim was already a misanthrope even before Osato's death, as he almost launched a spell at a human soldier for trying to light up the mood before being stopped by Osato
* Osato's wound slowly getting worse and worse until he fully succumbs to his injuries, becoming corrupted. Immediatly after turning, he attacks two of his friends.
* If anyone was interested in how Karim got his glove which he uses in Book 4, that is revealed here. It is his '''dead childhood friend's glove''', which he started using after his dead. And the reason why it's red, it's still covered in ''Osato's blood''.

* Finnegrin casts a spell which freezes Rayla's blood in her veins. Judging from her agonizing screams, it is ''extremely'' painful.
* Seeing Rayla in pain, Callum lunges at Finnegrin looking like he's ready to kill the elf with his bare hands. The look in Callum's eyes made him seem almost feral and deranged. Even before using Dark Magic again, he was already starting to lose himself.
* As the episode ends, something appears to be on Callum's mind, but he simply brushes it off and [[BlatantLies insists he's fine]]. Down in the decks below, we see two snakes slither away, exactly the kind of snakes that Callum created the last time he cast a Dark Magic spell...

!!Book 5: Ocean

[[folder:The Great Bookery]]
* We finally find out what became of Lux Aurea in the aftermath of Viren's invasion, and its not pretty. Aaravos' corruption of the Sunforge has caused a corrosive darkness to wash over the city, infecting any and all life there with a twisting corruption that turns them into mindless, ravenous monsters. Even worse, the corruption is highly contagious. A single scratch from an infected creature causes the victim to become infected by the corruption as well.

*After Aaravos is done with the conversation, he simply sits down and blows a kiss, the effect of which shatters the mirror despite it being on a wholly different plane of existence, displaying the vast power he has from even the most minor of gestures, and why even this prison seems to only ''barely'' keep him contained.

Asskicking Leads To Leadership is the new name of the trope.

* The episode's titular dragon is a massive juggernaut of flame and hate. Formerly [[AsskickingEqualsAuthority the king of the dragons]], he was powerful and callous enough to [[PersonOfMassDestruction singlehandedly obliterate an entire city]] just to [[DisproportionateRetribution punish a single rebellious mage]]... and that was ''before'' being driven mad by pain and blindness. In the present, he roams through Xadia attacking anything that gets in his way without knowing nor caring who he's trying to kill. And while he may have lost his title and his sight, he's retained ALL of his strength and fire. His fury is so intense that he's willing to murder Rayla and Zym, ''his own prince'', because they begged him to spare Callum's life.

* While Viren is preoccupied draining Zym, he fails to notice Rayla about to strike him down, Aaravos, through his familiar, does see her, and immediately raises his arm to knock her back. Without even looking back, Viren's arm ''copies the gesture'' '''exactly''' as Aaravos does it. After seeing that, you have to ask: where does Viren end and Aaravos begin at this point?

** The entire ordeal is just absolutely traumatizing for Callum, and he spends much of the rest of the season barely concealing his mental breakdown. Aaravos had completely overrode Callum's mind and turned him into a drone. Callum described it as feeling weak and helpless, as though he was merely a puppet. It gets to the point that he asks Rayla to kill him should Aaravos take over again, fearing what he would be forced to do under Aaravos' control.

** Aaravos speech is simply NightmareFuel incarnate. He goes around the room and interrogates each of the main characters with their worst insecurities, almost seeming to pluck them from their minds themselves (Ezran being in over his head, Rayla being unable to kill, and Soren having a father who wishes he was never born). But when it comes time for Callum, he instead [[YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame praises]] the boy as his "favorite" for having already tainted himself with Dark Magic, and declares that Callum will belong to him when all is said and done.
