* Asakura Yoh of ''Manga/ShamanKing'' takes this UpToEleven. He's out to save every soul that's ever existed, past, present, or future by becoming the [[ToBeAMaster Shaman King.]]

* ''Manga/{{Bakuman}}'': They're ''everywhere''. Which is natural, considering that it's a romantic comedy about writing manga. By the same people who brought you ''Manga/DeathNote.'' The only real {{Jerk Ass}}es in the series can be brought down to two: Ishizawa, who's had all of ''four'' appearances in this manga's ''over one hundred-chapter run'', which, as of November 2012, is still going strong with it's third anime season, mind you, and one character who can't be named for spoiler reasons. It's also important to note exactly where the author choses to do this rather than creating a JerkAss character: the main editor had a lot of potential to be arrogant and dislikable, but they chose to make him a ReasonableAuthorityFigure instead; the main duo's rival, TeenGenius manga-writer Nizuma Eiji, also could have easily been an arrogant douchebag who flaunts his talent and power in the main character's faces, but he instead acknowledges their skills, thoroughly enjoys their work, often gives them helpful advice, [[spoiler: shows up with a gift basket when TheHero is hospitalized]], and wound up being voted ''the most popular character'' in a manga notable for its LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters.

* Shouta Kazehaya from ''Manga/KimiNiTodoke'' is probably the most triumphant example in Shoujo manga, due to an anomaly that not only [[LoveInterest is he the object of Sawako's affection]], but he's also a ChickMagnet. He's [[MemeticMutation made of 100% fresh, squeezed fruit of friendship]], yet far from being a MartyStu. Probably his only ulterior motive for speaking to Sawako Kuronuma and befriending her is his desire to get to know her better. [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan Girls in this manga and anime prefer nice guys in general]], [[{{Reconstruction}} which makes them outstandingly different from]] Shoujo romances, which most of the time the female leads goes for the TroubledButCute and BastardBoyfriend types.

* Madoka from ''Manga/RinneNoLagrange'' pilots a mecha because her friend she just made, asked her to.

* ''Manga/ShonanJunaiGumi'': Tsuyoshi Tsukai is a nice guy in comparison to the other main characters, though like them he's a [[JapaneseDelinquents delinquent]] who gets into gang fights (because he always has his friends' backs). The main thing that sets him apart is his attitude towards women: He has a crush on Itou, but [[IJustWantMyBelovedToBeHappy supports her trying to get Onizuka to notice her]], even challenging [[BloodKnight Onizuka]] to a fight for hurting her feelings. Onizuka and their friends realize that Tsukai likes her, and make sure she sees him standing up for her. After they get together, they're one of the most stable couples in the series, and are mentioned to be married in the sequel.

* ''NiceGuy/{{Haikyuu}}''

** Goku's other son, Goten, is closer to Goku in personality and is no less kind-hearted. He, like Gohan, also largely lacks Goku's BloodKnight tendancies. He's also quite a bit more naive/[[IdiotHero dumber]] than Gohan is.

* One of the only genuinely nice people in ''Manga/MoriartyThePatriot'', John Watson believes in Sherlock's good nature even when he's threatening to kill someone in cold blood, and even comments that ''Professor Moriarty'' seemed like a good person when they met briefly--''after'' finding out he was the Lord of Crime. No wonder he serves as Sherlock's moral compass.

** While Yuji is a NiceGuy in all of his media incarnations, the anime tends to gloss over or even omitt his ruthless streak (such as trying to kill Shana's mother figure Wilhelmina in retaliation for almsot killing him), which is much more prevalent in the light novels and anime. [[spoiler: This has the unfortunate side effect of making Yuji's [[FaceHeelTurn Face-Well-Intentioned Extremist Turn]] particularly jarring, rather than the natural evolution of his character.]]

* The wolf-man from ''Anime/WolfChildrenAmeAndYuki'' is shown to be a kind and lighthearted guy despite being a loner.

* While she has her moments of temper from time to time, Maka Albarn from ''Manga/SoulEater'' definitely qualifies. She'll generally be caring, compassionate, and kind in almost all situations (the only rare exception being when Soul is really frustrating her).

** Just like Takato, Haru Shinkai from ''Anime/DigimonUniverseApplimonsters'' also shares this trope. Yet even nicer than the previous google-heads.

** Orihime Inoue, the sweet, [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} ditzy]] [[TheMedic healer]] who will even express pity over her fallen enemies. She's also one of the biggest [[TheWoobie Woobies]] of the series.

** The other members and recurring characters count as well (although Ritsu is kind of a mischievous JerkWithAHeartOfGold and Azusa is serious and can be slightly standoffish). Mugi is the kind TeamMom who is quieter than Yui, but still very kind and friendly and wants to make her friends happy, especially with tea and cake (and whatever she may buy them, wealthy as she is). Mio may be a Shrinking Violet, but as absurdly shy as she is, she has a genuinely kind and warm heart, and wants to help their friends in the best way she can, and is always ready to help them studying. Nodoka has always been an excellent childhood friend to Yui, as she is also incredibly kind, helpful and patient, and despite her reserved nature she suddenly befriends Yui's new friends, especially Mio when they are put together in the same class. Yui's sister Ui... What about her? She's a perfect YamatoNadeshiko and a supportive and mature younger sister who takes the role of the older one.

** Alphonse Elric is definitely this. Compared to his brother Edward [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold who is just as nice, but has a more jaded view and quick to anger.]]

** While he does have a massive ego, Shirogane is fundamentally a very kind person, so much so that the very act of being cold to others causes him physical pain.

** This applies to the entire cheer team, given how quickly the accept Ishigami as one of their own despite the rumors surrounding him and [[TheEeyore how out of place he is]] among them. Special mention goes to Tsubame, since [[spoiler:reaching out to troubled underclassmen is something of a habit for her.]]

* Hirasawa Yui of ''Manga/KOn'' is the idealistic, innocent and warm heart that holds the "Afterschool Teatime" band together. Still, the other members and other recurring characters count as well.

* ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'': Though freakishly strong with a temper to match, Ryoga Hibiki really isn't all that bad once anyone gets to know him. It turns out he's such a softie that he's repeatedly stuck his neck out for Ranma, even if it means helping the girl he loves [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy stay together with his sworn enemy.]]
