The band is most famous for their album ''Astro Lounge'' and its hit single "All Star", a quintessential late-'90s party tune which debuted in a scene from ''Film/InspectorGadget1999'', was later used to promote ''Film/MysteryMen'', and ended up being used in other films such as ''Anime/DigimonTheMovie'' and ''Film/RatRace'', but was immortalized (both in 2000s pop culture and 2010s [[MemeticMutation meme culture]]) through its inclusion in the first ''WesternAnimation/Shrek1'' film. (Their cover of "I'm a Believer" was similarly immortalized, introducing a new generation to that particular '60s classic.)

Some of their less popular albums have [[CriticalDissonance received the highest critical praise]], such as their debut ''Fush Yu Mang'', which reached double platinum. After ''Astro Lounge'' was released, they went from being pretty underground to pretty popular, which [[ItsPopularNowItSucks drove away their original fanbase]].

Though initially a SkaPunk band, they later added synthesizers and a few experimental elements, and a production heavily-influenced by SurfRock and PsychedelicRock of TheSixties. Songs generally contain lyrics about the standard sex, drugs and rock 'n roll, but they also satirize politics on occasion, if only in a lyric or two. (See "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZgglOKNl-g Stoned]]," which pokes fun at then-President UsefulNotes/BillClinton's infamous claim that he "didn't inhale.").
