* {{Mondegreen}}: The line "burning up his fuse out here alone" from "Rocket Man" is among the most misunderstood lines in popular music. Volkswagen even made a commercial around it as a MondegreenGag.

Going to be disambiguated, and even in any spinoff trope that's misuse. AFAIK that song doesn't actually have a Mondegreen Gag.

In the United States, ''Honky Château'' would kick off a string of seven straight studio albums which would reach #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Oddly enough, it wouldn't go Platinum in the U.S. until 1995. It also amassed great critical acclaim, in both contemporary and retrospective reviews. It hit #357 on ''Magazine/RollingStone'''s [[UsefulNotes/RollingStone500GreatestAlbumsOfAllTime 500 Greatest Albums of All Time]] in 2003, #359 on the 2012 list, and [[UsefulNotes/RollingStone500GreatestAlbumsOfAllTime2020 #251 on the 2020 list]].

The album was supported by two singles: "Rocket Man", and "Honky Cat". Both were Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, with "Rocket Man" going triple-Platinum in the United States. "Rocket Man" also hit #2 in the United Kingdom, his highest-charting single in his home country for five years, and went Platinum there as well.

Elton retreated to the Château d'Hérouville in France, to record his next work. The location would inspire the name of the title, which in turn would inspire a song, "Honky Cat".

Elton retreated to
the Château d'Hérouville in France - thus France, to record his next work. The location would inspire the name - of the title, which in turn would inspire a song, "Honky Cat".

Another song, "I Think I'm Going to Kill Myself", was a happy-sounding song--in a similar tonal vein as the ''de facto'' TitleTrack--with a heaping helping of LyricalDissonance.

But a different song, "Rocket Man", a soft ballad co-inspired by Music/DavidBowie's "Music/SpaceOddity"
and a sci-fi novel by Creator/RayBradbury, would become one of Elton's most beloved songs.

It
was the first of seven consecutive number one albums in America Elton John released, and that was before released; oddly enough, it reached wouldn't go Platinum status in the U.S. in 1995. !!Rocket man, burning out his tropes up here alone:
* TheBigRottenApple: "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters". Rose trees never grow there.
* CountryMouse: "Honky Cat". Bernie Taupin himself was one, which is reflected in many of his lyrics, as he faced a lot of opposition from his family to try to make it big in the city as a songwriter.
* InTheStyleOf: "Honky Cat" was in the style of New Orleans blues musicians such as Music/DrJohn and Music/AllenToussaint.
* LyricalDissonance: "I Think I'm Going to Kill Myself", a lighthearted song about, [[SuicideAsComedy well]]...
