* AnchoredShip: Pretty much the case for Yuzuriha and Taiju. Taiju is in love with Yuzuriha, and it's heavily implied she would return his feelings, but Taiju decides to hold off his confession, as he feels that it might pressure her into agreeing, since their basically the last people alive.

* BattleOfWits: Senkuu and Tsukasa's conflict consists more of them trying to out-smart each other and deduce the other's plans than it does direct, physical conflict. This is [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] by Senkuu though, since he's well aware that Tsukasa is more or less an AdvancingWallOfDoom and fighting him bare handed would be suicide.

** Tsukasa inexplicably has SuperStrength and SuperReflexes, being able to catch arrows out of the air and kill a lion with his bare hands.

* WeakButSkilled: Senku is by far the weakest main character, even weaker than Yuzuriha, but his lightning-fast thought process allows him to escape bad situations or [[AwesomenessByAnalysis overcome them through his resourcefulness]].
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Tsukasa wants to rid the world of all adults, as he feels the world is better off without them. To that extent, he spends his time destroying statues of adults so Senku cannot restore them.

* {{Irony}}: The immediate, unavoidable irony in Tsukasa's plan to create a "perfect" new world with nothing but young people is the fact that... well, you know... everybody gets old at ''some'' point.

* TraumaticHaircut: Yuzuriha gets her long hair chopped off as a threat to Senku when Tsukasa takes her hostage.

* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Kohaku possesses monster strength in her tiny frame, which she credits to training. Apparently her village has more like her.

* DecoyProtagonist: Taijuu is framed as the protagonist in the first few chapters, with Senkuu as his smarter co-main character. However, going by focus, importance, and who's on the first volume cover, it's actually Senkuu's show.

** It turns out that pocket societies were able to form, and our heroes weren't the first ones to wake up. Kohaku and her village, for example, had been born into the new world and haven't seen a lick of technology, let alone soap.

* ApocalypseHow: Either ApocalypseHow/Class3A or ApocalypseHow/Class3B, though it's uncertain which. As far as we know, Senku and Taiju are the only humans to emerge out of the stone on their own accord, though they do have a means of restoring undamaged statues with the potential to slide it back to ApocalypseHow/Class2. It may also be ApocalypseHow/Class4 considering species other than humans were affected by the petrification.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Tsukasa, after observing Senku's actions, realizes that he wears his heart on his sleeve just as much as Taiju does, as he doesn't always take the optimum course of action and goes out of his way to save people. He's just more socially awkward.

* ScienceHero: Senku--while he may come off as an egotistical jerk, he really does want to restore as much of humanity as he can.

* TakenForGranite: This happened with all of humanity for thousands of years. So far, and worst, many of the humans [[AndIMustScream were still conscious during it.]]

* AndIMustScream: Some of the petrified people are shown to still hold consciousness, even after years. We say some, because Donald Trump lost his consciousness very early.

One day, Ooki Taiju was finally prepared to declare his love for his crush, Yuzuriha, and when he was finally about to do so... [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt the world ends]], [[TakenForGranite with everyone petrified by an unknown cause]]. During thousands of years, Taiju holds to his determination while being trapped in stone, thinking about Yuzuriha.

October 5th, 5738 AD. Taiju awakes and got out of the stone. He finds that his friend, [[InsufferableGenius Senkuu]], also survived, and together, they decide they are going to rebuild civilization from zero.

* AfterTheEnd: The series takes place after 3721 years after humanity was petrified by an unknown cause. Both Senkuu and Taiju decide they will rebuild civilization from zero, and discover the cause of the petrification.
* AnimeHair: Senkuu hair is bigger than his head.
* TheCameo: Donald Trump appears during some panels, being the victim of the petrification.

* InsufferableGenius: Senkuu is always certain of something at ten billion% in the bag. He was going to give a LovePotion to Taiju, knowing full went he was going to reject it. Thank goodness, because it was old gasoline.
