Webcomic / Loon Land

Go To

Loon Land (NSFW) is a webcomic by Norwegian artist Mats J. Sivertsen, launched early in 2013. The story revolves around the birdlike alien Lana Loon and her terrestrial boyfriend Mike Moon – who is an actual loon (the bird). The comic has some longer story arcs concerning themes such as male insecurity, sex, dating, jealousy, love, relationships, porn, masturbation, xenophobia, feminism and gender politics – but follows a format of a one-page gag a week.

This webcomic provides examples of:

  • Alien Animals: Lana is kind of a bird – crossed with a monkey, a dinosaur and a dolphin.
  • Amusing Alien: Although Lana might not be the next ALF, she's quite funny.
  • Exotic Equipment and Bizarre Alien Biology: In their first sexual encounter Mike discovers Lana has no less than five vaginas.
Mike: Hang on! You've got like five holes down here! Which do I poke it in?
    Lana: All of them.
Mike: This is not gonna work...
  • Boldly Coming: Lana and Mike have sex on numerous occasions. [1][2] They actually try it right away, but find they have a problem because of her Exotic Equipment [3]:
  • Everybody Has Lots of Sex: Men and women in Loon Land are equally sexual and promiscuous.
  • Fantastic Racism: Sort of. Lana's encounter with earth culture tries to address issues around immigration, xenophobia and gender inequality.

  • First Contact: Lana lands on earth and meets Mike Moon.
  • Furry Confusion: One particular gag deals with this trope directly.
  • Interspecies Romance: Lana and Mike's courtship is the main premise of the comic.
  • NSFW: Sort of. Although the comic is generally cute and work friendly, Lana walks around with her bare cartoon-alien boobs and at one point there is a bipedal vagina walking around.
  • Talking Animal: Goes without saying, as it's a furry/feathery webcomic.

How well does it match the trope?
