They attempt to pull this trope on Ayanokouji when they catch him communicating with a detective that got caught up in the Treasure Hunt event, though he wipes their memory so that they report back to their leader that they got nothing. The detective himself, however, picked up a tail from another Executioner.

* PlayingWithFire: The unnamed female character who appears for 2 pages before being killed off by "One-san", leader of the "Eighth" clan. She later stars in the omake strips, where the fact that she's killed before readers even know her name gets brought up repeatedly.

* HeKnowsTooMuch: Trinity agents attempt to pull this on Ayanokouji when they catch him communicating with a detective that got caught up in the Tresure Hunt event.

* TheMole: Superintendent Ayanokouji is one for the police, as he is a supporter of Trinity, the company that runs Darwin's Game.

* TemptingFate: Really Kaname? When you accept the game invite, a snake comes out of nowhere and bites your neck, and you ''still'' accept the invite to fight someone with it?

* GenreSavvy: Kaname displays this trait during all of his battles
** When he's first attacked by Panda man, he immediately gets to the police station. It does wind up saving his life.

** Rein is better known as "The Info Broker".

* EveryoneHasASpecialMove: All the players have a Sigil, which lets them use a supernatural ability. For instance, Shuka [[spoiler: the panda man can turn invisible while Shuka can control the movement of a stringlike object.]]

* NoBodyLeftBehind: When one of the game's players dies, all that is left is a hole in the ground shaped like a pixilated version of their body.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: A police officer who Kaname goes to after being attacked. He initially doesn't believe Kaname about the Darwin's Game, but quickly gets the message when the knife-wielding panda man breaks into the police box. Too bad he's killed off in less than half a chapter.

* ElegantGothicLolita: The girl who fights with the chain-whip, who's name has yet to be revealed.

* SurvivalOfTheFittest: The game's schtick.

* OridnaryHighSchoolStudent: Kaname.
