* The ''WesternAnimation/TheTransformers'' episode "Megatron's Master Plan" has Megatron frame the Autobots for crimes via faked video footage. She still has a photograph of her with Danny and Tucker, identical to a photo of Danny's in every way except that she's now in it, and tries to use this to prove that her crazy story about them being best friends and him having super powers is true.

* ''Literature/IfThisGoesOn''. LaResistance take over the transmission station where the Miracle of Incarnation is being broadcast, a ceremony in which God gives his yearly approval of the First Prophet Scudder as his agent on Earth, and replace it with one where God urges the populace to overthrow him. This causes enough chaos that the Resistance is able to take the entire country except the capital New Jerusalem. Eventually people realise what they saw was fake, and the protagonist says this should tell them the other Miracles of Incarnation they saw were also faked. His more cynical friend Zed tells him not to be naïve, as it's more comforting for people not to accept that everything they've been raised to believe is a lie.

* A period-appropriate version is present in ''Film/TheShawshankRedemption''. When assigned to cover the warden's bribes and other dirty money, Andy invents an imaginary scapegoat named "Randall Stevens" to take the blame if there are any discoveries. Andy was able to create Randall with nothing but some forged signatures and documents, and nobody at the bank questions why they never see their well-to-do client until after [[spoiler: Andy plays the role and makes off with the warden's money]].

* In the ''Series/Supergirl2015'' episode ''Luthors'', everyone but Kara is convinced that Lena broke Metallo out of jail when a video of her doing so surfaces, and she is arrested. It turns out that the video is a fake, with the real culprit digitally edited out. It's especially egregious in Snapper Carr's case since this is the second time the supposed master journalist got tricked by faulty footage (the first being when he wrongly thought Guardian murdered someone because of a misplaced camera).
