It's a veritable maze of gangways, ladders and circular rooms built on platforms around tree trunks. This is because right underneath Trehaug there's an ancient Elderling city that's been buried by some past cataclysm ''and'' the Rain Wild River, the waters of which are caustic and make the ground funny, runs right beside it. The Rain Wilders spend their time uncovering the Elderling city and plundering its magical artefacts, a good part of which goes towards keeping Trehaug functioning.
