Interestingly, there's no indication that Gear Third has such long-term effects, since its side-effects are immediate and wear off within minutes.

* Several times during the course of ''NeonGenesisEvangelion'' Unit 01 goes into "berserk" mode where it operates autonomously and becomes much more powerful than it normally is - though this is less a Super Mode than it is the Eva getting [[UnstoppableRage angry enough]] to temporarily resist its {{Power Limiter}}s.

These transformations are usually accompanied by either a failure on the part of the other party to intercede, or a temporary "aura of invincibility" that renders them incapable of doing so. [[TropeCodifier Popularized]] by the 'Super Saiyan' ability in ''[[DragonBall Dragon Ball Z]]''. A common method to access the Super form is often rage. This is particularry common in Manga/Anime.
