A less creepy version of the StalkerShrine replaces the shrine with a hidden stash of photos of the obsession taken in secret. Typically in high school anime, these secret photos may have even been taken by another person, whose only motive is to sell them at a nice profit to a myriad of wanna-be stalkers.

* Luna Lovegood from ''HarryPotter'', a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} who's teased at school, mentions not having had friends until she became the SixthRanger to the main characters. In ''HarryPotterInTheDeathlyHallows'', Harry, Ron and Hermione go to the Lovegoods' house for the first time, and her room has portraits of them painted on the ceiling surrounded by the word "friends." This was intended to be weird-but-touching, befitting her social awkwardness, but came off to some readers as a genuine RoomFullOfCrazy.

* In the ''HonorHarrington'' short story ''What Price Dreams?'', the suicide bomber who attempted to kill the princess had one of these. It was created by the people who warped his mind so that he would become a suicide bomber on command, so that any investigation would classify her death as the act of a deranged stalker. It would have worked had the man not been taken alive.

While encountering a stalker shrine is almost always a very creepy event, on rare occasions it can be strangely touching as well, if the stalker truly cares for the victim of his obsession. The wall is simply a substitute for her physical presence in his life.

The contents of the StalkerShrine are usually photos of the stalker's obsession. Lots of photos. More rarely, newspaper and magazine articles, timelines, address book information or video are added. For extra creepiness factor, a couple of half melted candles are strategically located at the base of the shrine.

->''In RealLife, very few murderers devote a whole room of their house to making a sort of shrine to their victims. They don't do this because frankly it would be a bit of a giveaway. On TV, however, most murderers have a handy nutter's den in the house, making it easy for [[ViewersAreMorons the audience]] to know early on which of the suspects is the right one.''
-->--''TheNowShow Book of Records'', "Biggest TV Detective Cliches"

Alice and Bob are working a case. The victim, Dorothy, had no known enemies, and there is no real evidence. Despite this, they manage to turn up a few leads, some of which point to Charlie, who seems an unlikely suspect. GenreSavvy Judge Ellen gives them a warrant to search Charlie's home. At first, everything seems normal, but in his basement there is a section of wall covered by Polaroid photos and newspaper clippings, all featuring Dorothy!

A subtrope of RoomFullOfCrazy; This differs by suggesting that the person who turned the room into a Room Full of Crazy is not merely possibly deranged, but suffering from a very specific and dangerous obsession, usually around a single person. The contents of the StalkerShrine are usually photos, but more rarely include newspaper or magazine articles, timelines, address book information or video. In a modern setting, the stalker shrine could be online or in a hard drive, but that is rare.

If the stalker is dangerous ''and'' deranged, they may try to [[LivingDollCollector "possess" their crush like a doll.]]
