* Most sibling relationships in ''HarryPotter'' follow this to some extent, such as Sirius (hates his [[FantasticRacism pureblood-obsessed]] family and eventually runs away from home) and Regulus (proud to be part of said family), Bellatrix (fanatically devoted to [[BigBad Voldemort]]) and Narcissa (secretly terrified of him), et cetera. Also, Harry's mother Lily (a muggleborn witch) and her sister Petunia (who is perfectly normal, thank you very much).

* Sam's twin sister Melanie from ''Series/ICarly''. The former is almost permanently grouchy, borderline sociopathic, and sarcastic, while the latter is upbeat, outgoing, and perky.

* In the first season of ''TheBigBangTheory'', the twin sister of the gawky, socially awkward nerd [[SouthernFriedGenius Sheldon]] is revealed to be a gorgeous, statuesque SouthernBelle.

* Suiseiseki and Souseiseki from ''RozenMaiden'' are very much this, both including a TomboyAndGirlyGirl relationship, but with several more differing characteristic traits. Where Souseiseki is [[TheStoic stoic]], Suiseiseki is [[TheMcCoy emotional]]. Souseiseki is serious and collected, while Suiseiseki is [[ScrewySquirrel mischievous]]. Souseiseki believes it is the duty for every doll to participate in the Alice Game regardless of personal attachments, while Suiseiseki strictly opposes the Alice Game due to fear of losing her sisters.

* In ''ChronoCrusade'' we have Chrono and his EvilTwin Aion.

* The aptly named Yin and Yang from ''WesternAnimation/YinYangYo''.
** Carl and Herman too, with Carl's magic and strategy being contrasted by Herman's muscle and brute force. "Dojo Alone" showed that, if they ever worked together, they'd be unstoppable, but they can't stand each other.

*** There's also the Aozaki sisters; it's best to explain how they respectively react to meeting somebody with the [[EvilEye Mystic Eyes of Death Perception]]. [[{{Tsukihime}} Aoko tells the user to respect the sanctity of life, but to also use his powers for what he believes in.]] [[KaraNoKyoukai Touko's reaction? "They're useful! Come work for me!"]] Touko hates Aoko, incidentally. Probably because Aoko keeps stealing stuff from her.

* Twin example: Hisui and Kohaku from ''VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}}''. Hisui is an introverted maid who is skilled at cleaning, but lousy at cooking. Kohaku is an extroverted maid who is skilled at gardening and cooking, but terrible at cleaning.
** Also from the {{Nasuverse}}, Shinji and Sakura in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight''. Subverted in that [[spoiler:they're NotBloodSiblings. Sakura and ''Rin'' are, though, and also fit this trope. Sakura's [[TheDarkSide powers]] match her side nicely, to boot.]]

* Kyou and Ryou in ''VisualNovel/{{CLANNAD}}''; Kyou is a violent {{tsundere}}, Ryou a shy ClassRepresentative.
** Interestingly enough, Kyou is also class representative in her class.
** [[{{Expy}} Same deal]] with Kagami and Tsukasa (respectively) from ''Manga/LuckyStar''
*** To further the suspicions of an {{Expy}} / KyoAni ShoutOut, Tsukasa has a very similar hairstyle to Ryou. With the same [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair hair color]] to boot.

* In ''Anime/LuckyStar'', Konata lampshaded two pairs: [[{{Tsundere}} Kagami]] / [[TheDitz Tsukasa]] and [[GenkiGirl Yui]] / [[IllGirl Yutaka]]. Konata hypothesized this trope is caused by one sibling absorbing attributes from the other sibling.
** Well, [[TsurimeEyes Kagami]] and [[TaremeEyes Tsukasa]] have different [[GoodEyesEvilEyes eye shapes]].
** Taken out of context by Minami, who says that Miyuki Takara must have absorbed [[BuxomIsBetter something else]] from her, by virtue of being next door neighbors

* Yuma and Yuna Kashiwagi from ''PaniPoniDash''. Yuma is an extreme extrovert (and borderline {{Yandere}}), Yuna is an extreme introvert. Yuma goes so far as to actively sabotage Yuna's attempts at being more accepted just to keep eyes on her.

* Fuka and Fumika Narutaki of ''MahouSenseiNegima''. The former's the trouble-making class pankster while the latter's constantly worried about how the former's pranks will get them in trouble as she gets dragged along.

* Shion and Mion from ''VisualNovel/HigurashiNoNakuKoroNi''. Shion is more laidback and polite then her tomboyish twin sister. [[spoiler:However, it is later seen that ''Shion'' is the tomboy, and Mion is the more feminine one. It's [[TwinSwitch complicated]].]]
** [[spoiler: Only if you make it that way. The character we know as Mion, while originally born as Shion, is still the tomboy and vice versa. It's not as complicated as you think.]]
** [[spoiler:Our known Shion has killed more characters than any other main character besides Rena. And Mion's the only character who hasn't killed anyone, yet. The former is a {{Yandere}}, the other is a {{Tsundere}}.]]

* In Apollo Justice: VisualNovel/AceAttorney, Kristoph Gavin is a cool, businesslike defense attorney while his brother Klavier is a wild, extroverted prosecutor. Futhermore, [[spoiler:Kristoph is evil and Klavier is good]].
** And in the same game, there's [[spoiler: Apollo and Trucy, the protagonists themselves, although they don't know they're half-siblings. They do have some similarities, but Trucy is optimistic, a little naive, and extroverted. Apollo, on the other hand, is more cynical, sarcastic, and is more reserved around people than Trucy is.]]

* Itsuki and Sayo in VisualNovel/{{Suika}}. Itsuki is gentle, shy and a bit of a pushover. Sayo is brash, slightly tomboyish and aggressive.

** Not so sure about Jeb not being so religious. He is a high ranking member of the Knights of Columbus.
*** The Knights of Columbus are Catholic. George W. Bush is a born again Christian. It's a different sort of religious attitude, even if there's an equal level of devotion involved.

** The Komeiji sisters as well: Satori has the power to [[AMindIsATerribleThingToRead read]] [[OhGodDidSheJustHearThat other people's hearts]] [[{{Telepathy}} and minds]] [[MindOverManners out loud]], which made her so disliked by humans and {{youkai}} alike she became a {{hikikomori}} in a bid to avoid contact with everyone. She is usually portrayed as being the calm and possibly snarky elder sister with hidden emotional depths and a [[LickedByTheDog good hand with animals.]] Koishi, on the other hand, [[PokeInTheThirdEye sealed off]] her ability to read minds in order to escape the contempt. This came with the unforseen side-effects of giving her the power to [[PsychicPowers manipulate the subconscious mind]] as well as closing off her own [[EmptyShell heart and mind]], making it impossible for other beings to [[PerceptionFilter emotionally connect to]] or [[LaserGuidedAmnesia even remember]] her; consequently she spends her days WalkingTheEarth in a dazed stupor, acting on whatever subconscious impulses that might occur to her. Koishi is usually portrayed as a CheerfulChild who [[AndCallHimGeorge occasionally gets too energetic when hugging Okuu]] on top of being the NotSoImaginaryFriend of children.

* Mario and Luigi of ''SuperMarioBros'', thanks to Luigi's increasingly DivergentCharacterEvolution as a LovableCoward over the last ten years.

* Anna and Johan in ''Anime/{{Monster}}''. Anna is outgoing, compassionate, helpful and an [[WideEyedIdealist idealistic humanist.]] Johan is quiet, introspective, manipulative and an utter sociopath.

** [[spoiler:Our known Shion has killed more characters than any other main character besides Rena. And Mion s the only character who hasn't killed anyone, yet. The former is a {{Yandere}}, the other is a {{Tsundere}}.]]

* [[FieryRedhead Fiery]], clever, distrustful Fen and her [[NiceGuy openly friendly]], trusting, more mellow brother Lark in the HungerGames fanfic ''Fanfic/SomeSemblanceOfMeaning''. Also, the heroine, ShrinkingViolet Vale, and her HotBlooded sister Maybelle.

** Not to mention Alex and Olivier Armstrong. Alex Armstrong, a.k.a. [[FanNickname Colonel Clean]], is the almost grotesquely overmuscled poster boy for PecFlex and prone to fits of ''staggering'' [[LargeHam overacting]] at every possible opportunity, often with ManlyTears, and he's actually a total softy. His older sister Olivier is a BadassNormal of epic proportions, a slim, MagnificentBitch SocialDarwinist LadyOfWar who can call Ed short without him even trying to argue and has no compunction about killing representatives from Central because they irritated her and pushing their bodies into wet concrete.

* Twin examples: Risa and Riku in ''DNAngel''; Vash and Knives in ''{{Trigun}}''; Abel and Cain in ''TrinityBlood''; Metatron and Sandalphon in ''AngelSanctuary''; [[spoiler:Chrno and Aion/Ion]] in ''ChronoCrusade''; Suboshi and Amiboshi in ''FushigiYuugi''. Also note that as is often the case for the twin archetype, which some scholars view as a sub-category of the hermaphrodite archetype (seriously), one twin is gendered more 'feminine' (Risa, Vash, Abel, [[spoiler:Chrno]], arguably Metatron) and the other more 'masculine' (Riku, Knives, Cain, [[spoiler:Aion]], Sandalphon). (This has nothing to do with sexual orientation!)

** On that note, Akito and ''his'' [[http://www.onemanga.com/Koukou_Debut/40/21/ sister]] fit the bill as well.

* In ''KaraNoKyoukai'', Azaka [[RebelliousSpirit is]] [[PluckyGirl special]], and is attracted to things that are ''[[IJustWantToBeSpecial special]]''. This is pretty much in contrast with everyone else in the cast, but particularly with her [[UnfazedEveryman brother]]... ''The'' normal guy.

** Let's not forget Netherland and Belgium. He's a brooding {{Tsundere}} with a ScarfOfAsskicking and a penchant for smoking, she's a tomboyish and cheerful CoolBigSis with a SweetTooth.

* The Nitori siblings of ''WanderingSon'' couldn't be more different. Big Sister Maho is outgoing and pushy. Little Brother Shuichi is timid and even [[WholesomeCrossdresser feminine]]. This actually gets [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by the pair's father, who relates to Shu a story of their grandmother betting Maho would be a boy and Shu a girl before they were born. Given the family's recent discovery of [[WholesomeCrossdresser Shu's]] [[{{Transsexual}} issues]], Nitori Sr. wonders if Grandma was really so wrong about them.

* Kotetsu and Muramasa Kaburagi from ''TigerAndBunny''. Kotetsu is an impulsive, HotBlooded, dorky as all hell AscendedFanboy superhero, whereas Muramasa is his down-to-earth, low key, responsible older brother who runs the family liquor store.

* Freya and Loki from ''UnbreakableMachineDoll'' are basically [[{{naruto}} Hinata and Neji]] as [[HeroicAlbino albinos]] with EmpathicWeapon[=s=].

** Xavier also has Cassandra Nova, who literally exists to be his polar opposite in absolutely everything.

* Comicbook/{{Batman}}'s two sons, Tim "{{Robin}}" Drake (adopted) and Damian al Ghul (biological), in recent comics. Tim is logical, cool-headed, and always follows Batman's example by never killing, while Damian is rash, violent, and thinks nothing of killing his enemies. They slug it out pretty much every time they meet.

* The (otherwise unnamed) Two Brothers from ''Marvel vs. DC'' - one was the Living Embodiment of the {{Marvel}} Multiverse, the other was the Living Embodiment of the [[DCUniverse DC]] Multiverse. When they became (re)aware of each others existence, they each decided to destroy the other. [[spoiler:They made up in the end, because StatusQuoIsGod (Literally, in this case).]]

* In ''TheDresdenFiles'', Mab and Titania, the Queens of Faerie, are almost complete opposites. Mab is utterly ruthless and pragmatic, [[TheSpock making her decisions entirely on cold logic]], whereas Titania [[TheMcCoy follows her heart]]. Just about the only personality trait they have in common [[spoiler:is that they both love their respective daughters.]]

** Should be noted that Sam and Dean's relationship is a parallel for Michael and Lucifer's, who are ying yang brothers themselves.

* Charlie and Alan Harper from TwoAndAHalfMen. One drinks, gambles, attracts the hottest women like moths to a bulb, and lives in a nice house overlooking the beach, while the other doesn't drink ([[DrowningMySorrows on his best days, anyway]]), is socially awkward, and is pretty much hopeless with women... Oh, and he's also divorced, has a kid, and lives off his brother.

* Literally yin and yang in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV'' with Cecil and [[spoiler:Golbez]]. The two exhibit a good deal of emotional yin yang in ''VideoGame/DissidiaFinalFantasy''.

* Hisui and Kohak in ''VideoGame/TalesOfHearts''. The elder is HotBlooded and impulsive and rude, and even his speech is crass; his sister is soft-spoken and polite. There's also Croaseraph, who is an aggressive DualWielding GlassCannon who wants to DestroyAllHumans, and his brother Crinoseraph, a stoic, defensive spellcaster with two shields who's maintained his loyalty to his master.
* [[VideoGame/DevilMayCry Dante]] [[RedOniBlueOni and]] [[CainAndAbel Vergil]] embody this trope, and just about every other antagonistic sibling relationship ever created.

** Of course, they're very likely [[spoiler: [[SplitPersonality one character]]]]...

** The Troll kids (who are basically siblings) do this with their ancestors and each other. For example Vriska likes to torture the child-like Tavros and while they're both considered losers their ancestors were [[spoiler: a hugely successful pirate queen and an almost-successful messiah-figure]].

*** And even [[CoolOldGuy Iroh]] and Ozai.

* Daria and Quinn in ''{{Daria}}'' pretty much epitomize this trope. Somewhat subverted later when we learn that Quinn is actually reasonably intelligent.

* A famous example, Mufasa and Scar from TheLionKing, who are opposite in every extreme.

* The Daughter and the Son, from StarWars:TheCloneWars are [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin literal]] examples of this trope, as they are representing the Light and Dark Sides of the Force respectively.

* The biological siblings in the {{shogi}} manga ''[[SangatsuNoLion March Comes In Like A Lion]]'' had different reactions when a young shogi phenom entered their household and took their place in their obsessive shogi-master father's heart (shogi is everything to him and they just weren't talented at it): the brother became increasingly passive and played video games all day while the sister became a vicious bully who terrorized her foster-brother at home -- and possibly in bed. As young adults the foster-brother (who's still/barely present in high school) lives alone because he didn't want to destroy their family like a cuckoo chick; the brother is a divorced loser, and the sister, who is [[FemmeFatale "as beautiful as a demon"]] is dating her father's and foster-brother's {{Jerkass}} shogi rival, who also happens to have a hospitalized wife and young child.

* Yui and Ui Hirasawa of ''{{K-on}}'' are a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} and [[YamatoNadeshiko mature young lady]] respectively.

* From the new BBC ''{{Sherlock}}'', the Holmes brothers are portrayed this way. Sherlock is easily bored and has a tendency to be incautious and oft-dangerously short-sighted when in pursuit of a solution to whatever mystery happens to take his fancy. Mycroft runs a shadowy government agency and is much calmer and more collected than his dramatic, wild brother. This is in contrast to the characters of the original books, where Sherlock was driven and really cared about what he called "his art," while Mycroft was terminally lazy and probably could have been even greater than his brother, except that he didn't care to be.

* Identical twins Katie and Emily Fintch from ''{{Skins}}'' at least in their first season. Katie is the leader, dresses like sex-on-legs and ReallyGetsAround ("I haven't not had a boyfriend since I was seven"). Emily is eternaly in her shadow, dresses slightly more concervative and falls in love and is monogamus. There is also the tiny little fact that Emily is a closeted LipstickLesbian and Katie is a raging homophobe whose favorite target is the girl that Emily has fallen for.
