Rhinos seem hulkingly big, heavy, and intimidating animals that have the reputation to have bad eyesight, short tempers, and a tendency to [[RammingAlwaysWorks run down and trample (or gore to death)]] things that piss them off. They are unfairly qualified as stupid guys that always [[UseYourHead use their heads]] instead of reasoning. In our mind, they are one of the truly BadAss species of animal in the world. The depiction of rhinos in media usually runs along the same lines. If they appear in a game, expect a SmashMook or maybe a BullfightBoss. If they're depicted in fiction, they're likely to be a dangerous obstacle. If it's a comedy, expect to see someone sent flying.

But in RealLife? In RealLife rhinos do not deserve this reputation, really. They are not that badass, and aren't more aggressive than many other herbivorous mammals, they have the only guilt to me only a bit larger and stronger than others. Most of their charges are only mock-charges, but true aggressions towards humans and other animals are a rare thing. In particular, the most often cited rhino for its dangerousness, the White one, [[TheyJustDidntCare is actually the most peaceful and least aggressive of all modern rhinoceroses]].

And rhinos are SMART. They learn with the same ease of the other ungulates, and some have even learned to open doors via handle to reach their food, ''just like elephants and [[JurassicPark the fictional velociraptors]].

The paradox is, elephants and hippos are almost always depicted as [[GentleGiant Gentle Giants]] in TV, but in RealLife both can be much more ill-tempered than rhinoceri: the elephant's "musth" makes it attacking everything encounters in the path, and several humans are killed each year in zoos, and ''several rhinos'' are killed in the same way in South African parks; while hippos kill more humans in Africa than any other large herbivore. People always judges animals basing upon their appearence. Elephants and hippos are nice-looking, [[WhatMeasureIsANonCute rhinos seem living tanks]]: thus, elephant / hippopotamus = good, rhinoceros = evil.
