* Early in the run of Kurt Busiek's ''ComicBook/AstroCity'', the reader can see a statue of deceased hero The Silver Agent. Rather than a triumphant pose, the statue has its arms crossed in front and its face tilted downward. There is a plaque reading "To Our Eternal Shame", for reasons that aren't revealed until a later story.

* ''WesternAnimation/HowToTrainYourDragon2'': At the end, [[spoiler: a memorial in Stoick's likeness is carved into the mountains of Berk]].

** ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker'': When in [[spoiler: Hyrule Castle]], a statue of an older incarnation of Link can be found in the center of the main room. This is supposedly the same incarnation of Link from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime''.

* In ''WebComic/SchlockMercenary'', [[spoiler: Brad]] gets one after he blows up a tank he's inside in order to save hundreds of lives.

* In the finale of ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' it's revealed [[spoiler: Finn and Jake will each get one, and very large ones at that.]]

* Literature/HonorHarrington gets one of these in her likeness, as well as a brand-new warship named after her, after being [[YourDeathFakedForYou falsely reported dead]] and TrappedBehindEnemyLines. She finds all the effort her loved ones and allies went to flattering but somewhat embarrassing.

* In the Literature/{{Discworld}}, the Howondalandian countries of [[UsefulNotes/SouthAfrica Rimwards Howondaland]] and [[UsefulNotes/{{Zimbabwe}} Smith-Rhodesia]] are liberally bestowed with memorial statues to The Father of modern Howondaland, [[UsefulNotes/CecilRhodes Sir Cecil Smith-Rhodes]]. His descendents look upon this with reactions ranging from weary acceptance to outright wincing embarrassment. A great-grandaughter is confronted with the family legacy in ''Fanfic/GapYearAdventures'' by Creator/AAPessimal.

** ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'': The Zoras and Gorons erected monuments of their respective Champions in the hundred years since their deaths during the Calamity, both placed in such a location that they are always visible within the city limits. The Zoras placed an ornate statue of Mipha within in the center of Zora's Domain , while the Gorons carved Daruk's likeness in northern the cliff side overlooking Goron City. Seeing them is what triggers Link's memories for each of them.

* ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'': After being killed by Cinder in the season three finale, a large statue of Pyrrha Nikos was built in her hometown of Argus in memory of her.

* In ''Literature/WaxAndWayne'' the capital city has a statue commemorating [[TheProtagonist Vin and Elend]] from ''Literature/MistbornTheOriginalTrilogy''. She is known as the Ascendant Warrior and he as the Last Emperor and the whole crew from the original trilogy are remembered as heroes.

* ''Film/ThorRagnarok'': After faking his own death in ''Film/ThorTheDarkWorld'' and posing as Odin, Loki has commissioned a gigantic, golden statue of himself. In his [[HerCodeNameWasMarySue play]] ''The tragedy of Loki of Asgard'', he makes it look as if the statue was his [[LastRequest dying wish]].

* Downplayed in ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia''. A status of All Might gets erected after the Kamino incident where he used the last of his power to rescue Bakugou and defeat All For One a second time. However, All Might survives the battle and says that he can't die until he's finished teaching Midoriya. Instead, the memorial signifies his last act as a hero, marking the end of the era of All Might.

A character is dead, either before the story has started or they died during the story. To honor their memory, other characters raise a statue to them so they will always be remembered.

* In the ''Literature/WarriorCats'' book ''Crowfeather's Trial'', [=WindClan=] does the feline equivalent of this by making a cairn to honor those who had died in the battle against the Dark Forest, with each stone representing a specific warrior who gave up their life to save the Clans. The book begins with them adding the last stone to the pile to represent Crowfeather's mother Ashfoot.

* ''{{Toys/BIONICLE}}'': After Matoro's HeroicSacrifice, a statue of him was constructed on Metru in honor of his sacrifice.
