* ''Manga/IGotMyWishAndReincarnatedAsTheVillainessLastBoss'': In the "[[ShowWithinAShow The Saint and the Four Knights]]" canon, Elizabeth Maxwell isn't just the garden-variety AlphaBitch villainess seen in [[RebornAsVillainessStory "Reborn as Villainess" stories]]; she will turn into a literal Demon Lord. Luna once called the character, "A Demon Lord in making, born as a child of man." The titular reincarnation is God's attempt to prevent it from happening.

* Mamano Lords, also known as Monster Lords or Maou, are a staple part of the ''Monster Girl Encyclopedia'' world, with multiple Lords having reigned and had dominion over monsters throughout history. While some talk in-universe suggests this is part of a cosmic order held by the Chief Gods, this is disputed heavily in-universe. While most Monster Lords tend to be giant, civilization destroying monsters who only seek to destroy, the current Monster Lord is [[SuccubiAndIncubi a very powerful Succubus]] under whose reigns shifted from eating humans to ''loving'' humans instead, with all monsters now seeking husbands instead of dinner.

** The BigBad of the fifth and sixth arcs of the original ''Manga/DragonBall'' are the Great Demon King Piccolo and his son/reincarnation Piccolo Jr. They are a LiteralSplitPersonality of God and represent his rejected evil side, to the point where they were classed as demons (specifically "Mazoku" or "Demon Clansmen"). Notably, ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' fleshed out Piccolo Jr. as a character, establishing him (much like Goku) as a member of an alien race (the Namekians) and having him join the good guys, to the point that he became much more well-known as such. Although Piccolo's alien heritage doesn't retcon his demonic origin in any way, since his demonic traits are completely separate from his Namekian traits (Demon King Piccolo is a "demon" in much the same way as how Kami-sama is a "god" in that they each earned such titles).
** PlayedStraight with Dabura, king of the Demon Realm who became TheDragon to the evil wizard Babidi during the Buu Saga. Though the anime eventually subverts it by having him make a HeelFaceTurn, albeit posthumously.
