* AudienceAlienatingPremise: There have been a handful of games that failed to take off because of an offputting premise. Possibly the most infamous among the DWRP old guard was The House[[labelnote:Explanation]]Otherwise known as "Rape House," due to being a sex game that rewarded characters for forcing themselves on others. Also the orignator of the "[[PlotRelevantAgeUp Their bodies are of age]]" meme.[[/labelnote]]. Interestingly, while [[MateOrDie sex games]] are commonplace on Dreamwidth now, they were this once: when Roleplay/AmatOmnes started the trend, it sparked a tremendous amount of argument over whether the premise condoned rape (among other issues.)

* BroughtDownToNormal: Many games tend to depower or nerf overpowered characters to put them in line with other characters. However, there may still be imbalances due to the state of different series (even a nerfed Franchise/{{Superman}} is still going to be more powerful than Joe Everydude.)
* CanonImmigrant: Some games allow players to import their character's CR[[labelnote:*]]"Character relationships"[[/labelnote]] and history from one game to the next game. Such a character is usually referred to as a "CRAU".

* CelebrityParadox: Resulting from this style of roleplay usually using existing fandom characters. This often creates awkward situations, particularly if someone is playing a well-known character referenced in many other works (like SherlockHolmes) or is playing a character who regularly references other works (like Konata from ''Manga/LuckyStar''). Ways to handle the Celebrity Paradox vary; many games have a "no fourth-walling" rule--i.e., one character can't reveal to another character that they're fictional, or use knowledge of their original canon to their advantage. Others (looking at you, Roleplay/DramaDramaDuck) take the fourth wall and bomb it to rubble, usually with permission from the players involved.

* CrossPlayer: The vast majority of [=LJRPers=] are women who only or mostly play male characters. There are also male players who play only or mostly female characters, though these often are (fairly or not) seen as creepy.

* LifeImitatesArt: Let's See, Real people acting as fictional characters in a "MurderSchool" scenario (aka a spooky jamjar DeadlyGame the DanganRonpa Franchise uses) where they recover memories that have been taken by them slowly...especially if that "murderschool" turns out to be a ImmoralRealityShow in universe? [[spoiler: ''VideoGame/NewDanganRonpaV3'' Where have we've seen That before?]]

* PersonaNonGrata: The fate of many a banned player. Even moreso, places like Wankgate go out of their way to make sure other games are warned about the worst of the worst if they find out they're playing there.
