DVDCommentary is cool and all, but sometimes it can get tiring hearing the director or producer just drone on and on and on and on... Sure, it provides some interesting insight into the development of the film, but it's also ''[[NapInducingSpeak mind-numblingly boring]]''!

* In ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha the Movie 1st'' (which is an [[RecursiveCanon in-universe retelling of the first season]]), [[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha Nanoha, Fate,]] [[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers Subaru, Teana, Erio, Caro, and Vivio]] do commentary.
** ''[[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaAs Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 2nd A's]]'' has a grand total of ''21'' characters providing commentary: [[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha Nanoha, Fate, Yuuno, Chrono,]] [[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaAs Hayate, Signum, Vita, Shamal, Zafira, Reinforce Zwei,]] [[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers Subaru, Teana, Erio, Caro, Vivio, Lutecia, Agito,]] [[Manga/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaVivid Einhart, Rio, Corona, and Miura]]. * In ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'' movie ''Abra-Catastrophe'', Cosmo and Wanda give commentary.
* In one short scene of ''WesternAnimation/MickeyDonaldGoofyTheThreeMusketeers'', Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Pete commentate.

* Franchise/ScoobyDoo, Shaggy, and Fred provide commentary in ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheLegendOfTheVampire'' and ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheMonsterOfMexico''.

* In ''WesternAnimation/JonahAVeggieTalesMovie'', an additional commentary is provided by Larry and Mr. Lunt. They haven't done a full-length commentary with the Veggies since then, but many of their later episodes have Veggie commentary over a few select scenes, and [[WesternAnimation/ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnythingAVeggieTalesMovie the second movie also has such a commentary.]]

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Fantasia 2000}}'' has a commentary track highlighting each individual segment. For "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", Roy Disney is joined by WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse, who provides insight on the filming of the short. Later, Donald Duck crashes the commentary track for his segment, "Pomp and Circumstance", but mostly he complains that he didn't get a song to sing.
* The commentary for ''WesternAnimation/DespicableMe1'' includes some of the minions.

* In ''Film/MuppetsFromSpace'', Gonzo, Rizzo, Kermit, and Tim Hill give a commentary. Also similar to ''[[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 MST3K]]''.

* In ''Film/TropicThunder'' Kirk Lazarus, an extreme MethodActor, claims to never break character until after he's recorded the DVDCommentary. When ''Tropic Thunder'' came out on DVD Creator/RobertDowneyJr (who played Lazarus) did his commentary in character as Lazarus in character as Osiris, his character from the ShowWithinTheShow.

* One DVD release of ''Film/SpaceJam'' has commentary by WesternAnimation/BugsBunny and WesternAnimation/DaffyDuck.

* The "Two-Disc Snuff Edition" of ''Film/AugustUnderground'' includes a commentary by the leader of the film's two killers. Going by the background noise, he's doing it while in the middle of torturing someone.

* The DVD of ''Film/DonnieDarko'' includes the complete "Cunning Visions" evangelical promo film as a bonus feature, plus optional commentary by the in-universe producer and director, who both believe it to be a masterpiece [[StylisticSuck despite all evidence to the contrary]].

* In the ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'' episode "[=SpongeBob=] vs. The Big One" Plankton gives a commentary titled "Plankton's Special Sinister Commentary". Also similar to ''[[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 MST3K]]''.

* A few episodes of the first season of ''WesternAnimation/TheBoondocks'' has commentary by Uncle Ruckus. Doubly hilarious because one of the episodes was "Return of the King", the {{anvilicious}} MLK episode, and consists mostly of Ruckus doubling down on everything he said during the episode.
* ''WesternAnimation/MakingFiends'': In the [=DVDs=] of the web series, there are alternate versions of each episode. A few of them have commentaries by characters.
** "Charlotte's Fist Day Part 1: New Student" by Charlotte and Vendetta.
** "Charlotte's First Day Part 2: Show and Tell" by Marion.
** "Shrinking Charlotte" by Vendetta and Grudge.

* The first three ''WesternAnimation/ThreeTwoOnePenguins'' episodes have commentaries by Ron Smith, Zidgel, Midgel, Fidgel, and Kevin.
* Several episodes of the first and second seasons DVD of ''WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill'' had commentary from the cast: a few were from Peggy and Bobby Hill, and others were from Dale and Bill.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheRenAndStimpyShow'' had episode commentaries of "Circus Midgets" and "Big Flakes" by both Ren and Stimpy in the [=DVDs=] of the Games Animation seasons.
** Similarly, an EasterEgg on the Season Five and Some More of Four DVD had a brief 4 minute commentary of "Stupid Sidekick Union" with George Liquor joining Ren and Stimpy.
* The ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' episode "[[Recap/FamilyGuyS17E16YouCantHandleTheBooth You Can't Handle the Booth]]" is an entire episode of the characters commentating on a fake episode called "New Phone, Who Dis?" Highlights include Brian and Stewie arguing over the proper name for banister slats, the Griffins arguing over the lack of any twists to Peter's performance of "Halfway Down the Stairs", and Meg revealing some trivia while talking over a CutawayGag setup, forcing the other Griffins to wonder what the VisualPun of the gag is until Lois remembers how the setup went.

* A take on this trope exists in fanfiction, which will have several characters from the work somehow end up magically finding the work they originate from and watching and reacting to it together.

* ''WesternAnimation/IceAge'': Sid offers brief commentary on some of his favorite scenes from the first movie.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles''. The DVD extra short "WesternAnimation/MrIncredibleAndPals" (an in-universe cartoon) has a commentary track from Mr. Incredible and Frozone. Mostly, they're baffled at [[StylisticSuck how bad it is]].
