He starts off firmly on the side of the Director of Project Freelancer, defending and trusting him more than just about anybody else. When he learns the truth about the origins of the AIs the agents use, he secretly begins working against Project Freelancer. Then, after getting sent to prison due to the mysterious disappearance of critical evidence that would prove he was on the side of good (thanks to a certain Blue's idiocy), he agrees to work with the Meta (the villain of season 6) to get the evidence back. Although he expected the Meta to betray him, he didn't expect the Reds and Blues to help and forgive him, despite what he did; he realizes his mistake and remains with them ever after.

But it seems that it's working regardless, as Tandy's truth massage caused Mel to realize [[spoiler: that [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/quite_popular she's begun to care more about her friends than popularity]]]].

* ''WebComic/EerieCuties''[=/=]''WebComic/MagickChicks'': Melissa regularly makes appearances in both comics, so which side of "the door" she's on depends entirely on which comic she's in at the time:
** In ''Eerie Cuties'', she's usually a villain and serves as [[AloofDarkhairedGirl Layla's]] primary {{antagonist}}. Which was seen in her attempts to steal Layla's [[spoiler: ex-]]boyfriend, Kade Whiteclaw, and when she went so far as to cast a spell on her; leaving Layla flat-chested, [[http://www.eeriecuties.com/strips-ec/art_scholarship_-_interlude_(guest_strip)_2_of_4 simply because she snarked on her]] and Melissa couldn't think of a comeback. She was briefly antagonistic toward Brooke as well, after [[http://www.eeriecuties.com/strips-ec/let_me_make_this_up_to_you manipulating Brooke's boyfriend]], Ace, into going out with her -- simply because [[http://www.eeriecuties.com/strips-ec/wheatgrass_juice she was starved of male attention]] and he literally happened to be the first one that walked by. When she finally learned he already had a girlfriend, Melissa decided she'd steal him from Brooke [[http://www.eeriecuties.com/strips-ec/other_girlfriend so she could revel in her tears.]]
** ''Magick Chicks'' casts her in a somewhat better light, since the crux of the comic is about reforming Melissa -- between the mysterious girl [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/tis_but_a_trifle appearing in her dreams]], [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/the_magic_thingy_agrees Tiffany coaching her]] and the magick wand [[http://www.eeriecuties.com/strips-ec/stupid_magick_stick acting as her conscience.]] She even got her very own BigDamnHeroes moment, by saving Tiffany and Faith from a pair of possessed students. Despite all this, she's determined not to change and continues to fall back into old habit. But it seems that it's working regardless, as Tandy's truth massage caused Mel to realize [[spoiler: that [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/quite_popular she's begun to care more about her friends than popularity]]]].

* ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'''s Vriska Serket manages to do this without ever technically changing sides, switching back and forth from VillainProtagonist to SociopathicHero. She [[KickTheDog kicks the proverbial dog]] (usually her personal ButtMonkey, Tavros) on a regular basis, but also has some [[PetTheDog nicer]] moments, especially when it comes to [[MoralityPet John]]. Afterwards, he's apparently trying to help [[spoiler: Jake English]] and apologize to Feferi, but has remained sarcastic and mean throughout all of this.

* It's hard to keep track of anybody's moral alignment in ''Webcomic/{{Narbonic}}'', probably because nearly everyone is either insane (and varies the degree of evil and their motives beyond the speed of logic) or [[PunchClockVillain just there for the paycheck]].
* Sabine in ''WebComic/TheOrderOfTheStick''. Her "side" is Nale, and she does whatever is in Nale's best interests, even post-mortem.

** In ''Pavlov's Checkmate'', Cale finally gets over this, refusing to switch sides when the antagonist gives him the offer.
* Tyce from ''WebVideo/DeagleNation'' often switches between being Jace's friend and being his ArchEnemy.

** How many times did [[spoiler:Gemma]] either change sides or turn out not to have changed sides after all? In a relatively small amount of appearances, at that? Granted, this doesn't seem to have been a result of lazy or inconsistent writing - the woman just couldn't commit.

Compare ChronicBackstabbingDisorder (which is more about switching between grey groups than white-to-black or visa versa), WildCard (where the character isn't strongly on anybody's side ever), UnscrupulousHero (a character who is unambiguously on the heroic side), and the DoubleReverseQuadrupleAgent (he never changes sides, but no one is sure what side he's really on). See HeelFaceMole for when a villain fakes a HeelFaceTurn, only to return to being evil after his goal is achieved. See MoralPragmatist for a character who switches sides to whomever is best suited to help their plans.
