* Often experienced by Nightcrawler in the ''Comicbook/XMen'' franchise. Every time he feels a little put off by his appearance, he meets someone who ''really'' likes it. Usually an available woman whose fetish is, coincidentally, pointed tails, blue fur, and CuteLittleFangs.

* B'wana Beast, of ''BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'', has the power to make instant MixAndMatchCritters. Most characters look at his pigeonrats and spiderhorses and call him "[[DamnedByFaintPraise eccentric]]", except CaptainMarvel, who's a ten-year-old kid.

* In the epilogue of ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolid4'', [[spoiler:Raiden finally meets his son, who initially recoils upon seeing him. Raiden asks if he's scared, but the kid says he thinks Raiden's like a comic book superhero. Apparently he was watching (or told about) Raiden's [[Awesome/MetalGear big scenes.]]]] He even flourishes his toy katana like Raiden did in [=MGS2=]. Also doubles as a CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming.

* While not precisely "freaky", ChristopherTitus mentioned that he was one of the most popular kids in his class as a kid because, instead of furniture in his living room[[note]] his father was divorced multiple times, so alimony ate a lot of the monthly budget[[/note]], he had an inflatable raft. "I can actually ''be'' Captain Crunch!"

* This trope is the emotional crux of KimiNoTodoke: It's a pretty normal rendition of the story SingleGirlSeeksMostPopularGuy...with one important change; the 'most popular guy,' Kazehaya, is a very [[NiceGuy compassionate boy]] who likes her quiet SugarAndIcePersonality and doesn't want to change her. (This, combined with good writing, is the reason the story is so heartwarming.)

* In ''TheBartimaeusTrilogy,'' Jakob was attacked by a magician and left with permanent black-and-gray bands on his skin as a result. He spent the next few years locked in his room as a result. Bartimaeus barely noticed them and assumed they were intentional. Apparently rich members of the Banja people of Zimbabwe will pay magicians to use that spell on them because they find the look attractive.
