* The now-discontinued Itanium processor architecture by Intel was pejoratively given the nickname "Itanic" by Usenet user Kraig Finstad within hours of Intel announcing its name on October 4, 1999. This proved to be prophetic as the Itanium line never caught on outside server and enterprise users despite Intel's initial desire to replace the [=x86=] architecture, and Itanium was ultimately superseded by AMD's x86-64 extensions[[note]]In an ironic twist, ''Intel themselves'' had to licence the x86-64 tech from AMD.[[/note]] which augmented the venerable x86 instruction set.

* Due to the LGBTQ+ community being referred to by way longer abbreviations such as "LGBTQIA2S+", people have been calling it "Alphabet Soup" or "the WiFi Password community".

* ''Theatre/TheMerchantOfVenice'' contains--[[SpellMyNameWithAnS depending on which version of the script you're reading]]--either [[ThoseTwoGuys two guys]] named Salerio and Solanio or two guys named Salarino and Solanio and a third guy, a messenger, named Salerio. ** The "Unite The Right" white supremacist rally in 2017, which devolved into brawls with counter-protesters and a terrorist attack by one of the white supremacists, are commonly referred to as "Unite the Right" by the white supremacists themselves, but to everyone else are almost universally called "Charlottesville", after the city the rally took place in. Unlike the Virginia Tech shootings, the University of Virginia is almost never referred to, mainly as most of the events took place off the campus.

* Due to a prank that sparked an edit war over on Website/TheOtherWiki on the day his papacy was announced (and the fact that he and Ian [=McDiarmid=] look more than a little alike), Pope Benedict XVI is still called Pope ''[[Franchise/StarWars Sidious]]'' in some parts of the interwebs.

** Dream himself is often called "Green Boy" in both an affectionate and derogatory sense (depending on the context), most famously used by Wilbur Soot in L'Manburg's Decree of Independance on the LetsPlay/DreamSMP.[[note]]The derogatory sense usually refers to [[Characters/DreamSMPDream Dream's character]] [[MeanCharacterNiceActor in the roleplay]], who is, to summarize, an abusive, controlling, and overall despicable piece of shit with a god complex.[[/note]]

* Blorbo: Any character which a fan is obsessed with. Originated with a Tumblr post complaining about how posts by other people that looked interesting at first glance always turned out to be just gushing about "Blorbo from my shows".
* Glup Shitto: An obscure character, usually from a spin-off, who causes fans to freak out when they appear in a trailer or teaser for the work's main medium. Originally a ''Franchise/StarWars'' fan joke referring to appearances from Extended Universe characters in the 2020s streaming shows, but has now spread to other fandoms (eg. the atomic squeeing from elements of ''Series/DoctorWho'' fandom when popular [[Magazine/DoctorWhoMagazine spin-off comic]] villain Beep the Meep appeared in a teaser trailer for the 60th-anniversary TV specials).

** The Hive or The Swarm: In the toylines for ''[[Film/{{Transformers}} Dark of the Moon]]'' and ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'', toys of [[KidAppealCharacter Bumblebee]] were significantly over-represented in case assortments, resulting in large numbers of unsold Bumblebees shelf-warming after everyone who wanted one had managed to acquire him.

** Trolljima - Creator/HideoKojima, who is known to [[TrollingCreator say and do things specifically to mislead and annoy his own fanbase]]. Also occasionally "God", after his 'Kojima kaminandesu' stunt in ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolidPeaceWalker''. When his name is used, it tends to be "Kojima-san", after he told Kotaku that he would be able to stop making ''Metal Gear'' games if everyone on Kotaku said, "Kojima-san doesn't have to make ''Metal Gear'' any more".

** The Santa Fe Railway and Southern Pacific Railway tried to merge in the 1980s, and they felt so confident about the Interstate Commerce Commission approving their merger that they already started using a new paint scheme which was nicknamed "Kodachrome" for its resemeblance to the packaging of Kodak Kodachrome film. The initials of the new comapny were to be SPSF, which after the merger was rejected railfans and rail employees alike joked stood for "Shouldn't Paint So Fast".
