* Dan Slott's final issue of ''[[SheHulk She-Hulk]]'' was devoted entirely to explaining away events from other comics as alternate-universe doppelgangers who were visiting the MarvelUniverse on vacation; this has since been largely ignored. ** Recent events have only strengthened the "Anarky is Joker's son" issue by revealing that Duela Dent, the so-called "Joker's Daughter" is actually the multiversally displaced offspring of Earth-3's Jokester (so yes this means that Anarky and Duela are essentially the other's OppositeSexClone). But this is to be taken with a grain of salt in that this was introduced during the ''Countdown to Final Crisis'' storyline and may or may not by canon.

** Well, technically, Weis wrote the one where he lost his virginity ''herself''- it was always supposed to be an in-universe folktale of dubious canonicity. The unfairness of it is even lampshaded by Raistlin at one point- "It is just my luck that I made love to a beautiful woman ''and have no memory of it''. " In any event, he's an incredibly complex character and Weis is one of the few who can do him justice (a fact even co-author tracy Hickman admits) so in this case it may all be for the best...

* When it comes to WorldOfWarcraft, Blizzard and {{Whitewolf}} tend to come into these kinds of conflicts from time to time, with Blizzard vieing to keep the story faction-neutral, and Whitewolf adopting a noticeably pro-Alliance standpoint. One of the more infamous examples is with Alterac Valley, a battlefield where dwarves and orcs fight for ownership of the titular valley. Blizzard had always advocated that which side truly had the right to the Valley was ambigous, but then Whitewolf, in one of their sourcebooks, declared that the ''dwarves'' were the rightful owners, and that the orcs were the bloodthirsty invaders who deserved to die for ''daring'' to intrude on the almighty Alliance's lands. Needless to say, both Blizzard and the fanbase [[{{Understatement}} were not amused]].
** They'd also frequently focus on Elves and other pretty races and give little focus or say negative things about the [[WhatMeasureIsANonHuman non-human]] or [[BeautyEqualsGoodness non-attractive races]]. An Example of this is the Rpg saying the Blood Elf Farstriders kill all trolls they come accross, [[MoralDissonance including their allies]] yet they claim they are NeutralGood.

*The continuity of ''DoctorWho'' Series Five is pretty air-tight, but the episode "Amy's Choice" may be an exception. It is the one episode that cannot directly precede "The Pandorica Opens" according to Steven Moffat. Moreover, the episode provides the Eleventh Doctor with a line that implies self-hatred, whereas Matt Smith has said that the Eleventh Doctor is not afraid to be himself. This is not necessarily a contradiction, but it is confusing.

* This happened occasionally in the ''GlobalGuardiansPBEMUniverse'' when one GameMaster took over a campaign from another GameMaster and immediately instituted story changes that invalidated previous stories. At one point this got so bad that Jack Butler had to stop in, stop multiple campaigns, and reboot the entire universe.

Removing Bible example - contradictions or not, the authors weren\'t out to fight with each other. Besides, getting religion involved here is probably a bad idea.

* The New Testament of TheBible has four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John; all of which have varying degrees of contradictions, and all of which are considered canonical.
** For what it's worth, none of the books outright say the others are wrong. Most chalk it up to the LawOfConservationOfDetail; different authors writing to different audiences chose to conserve different details.
*** There are still contradictions in what details the authors ''do'' give, however. (Such as: Was Jesus born in Nazareth or Bethlehem? Did he hang from the cross for three hours, six hours or nine hours? And so on.)

it's generic enough

Messing with other authors' characters in large SharedUniverse is a potential FlameBait and may be [[http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1888&whichpage=61#163396 off-limits]] as impolite and sometimes prohibited outright: it's almost someone's PlayerCharacter, especially in settings made for [[TabletopGames RPGT]]. Conversely, simply ''[[http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1888&whichpage=19#52887 asking]]'' the original author to use "their" characters in {{canon}}ic material is a nice and {{continuity}}-enhancing practice. Of course, there's a precarious balance between counterproductive doting over prominent characters by their authors or derailing these characters and royally vexing their authors without any good reason by ExecutiveMeddling or another author hit by an IdiotBall.
%% add more insidies!

** Perhaps it's justified with "someone's character" -- especially given those settings were made for [[TabletopGames RPGT]], so it's almost ''someone's PlayerCharacter''. It would be both nice and more consistent to just ''ask'' original authors if someone else wants to use "their" characters in {{canon}}ic material. On the other hand, there's always precarious balance between counterproductive (for SharedUniverse) doting over prominent characters by their authors and derailing these characters (and vexing their authors) without any good reason when ExecutiveMeddling happens or another author is hit with an IdiotBall.

It stuck closely as possible to the old continuity of those issues. Many fans considered it the most entertaining Spider-Man book especially since the series appeared around the time all the regular Spider titles were entangled in the CloneSaga mess.'''Then John Byrne came along.''' SpidermanChapterOne was his attempt to update the old Lee and Ditko stories and he pretty much disregarded most of what Busiek had done in his Untold Tales series.

Ennis has written several sympathetic gay characters, including in the pages of the Punisher.

* Garth Ennis and Frank Tieri had a back-and-forth feud fought in the pages of their respective books ''The Punisher'' and ''Wolverine''. It started in Ennis' ''Punisher'' #16-17, where Frank Castle blasts a wildly over-the-top Wolverine in the face with a shotgun, hits him in the balls with a baseball bat, and runs him over with a steamroller. Tieri responded in ''Wolverine'' #186 by implying Punisher was gay (which given Ennis's intense to the point of protesting too much homophobia in his writing, is an apt slap in the face).

***** The "troubled and angry" viewpoint is entirely from Wally's point of view, and he himself admits his view is filtered because Bart reminds him of his own worst aspects (and I think everyone can attest to outwardly denying such even when pushed). That's not derailment, that's giving the character a chance to shine on his own.

To be fair to Weis & Hickman, while most of the ''Heroes'' and ''Preludes'' books were decent stand-alone fantasy novels in their own right, almost none of them lined up with established canon.
