* ExtendedDisarming: The computer attempts to tally all the weapons in Violet's HyperspaceArsenal. If finally gives up and just says "many" in a very surprised-sounding voice.

* FauxSymbolism: The prologue shows hemophage victims [[YouHaveToHaveJews wearing black hats and clothing]], being [[FantasticRacism harassed by skinheads]], and [[NaziGermany herded into camps]]. This sequence serves no narrative purpose and is [[HandWave never referenced again]].

* {{Hammerspace}}: Where Violet keeps her HyperspaceArsenal.

''Ultraviolet'' was deliberately created to stylistically resemble a comic book, with brilliantly colored outfits and hair, and an airbrushed appearance to close-ups. As with many comic books, the action scenes are deliberately over the top.

The film was generally not well received, but still can qualify as SoBadItsGood or a GuiltyPleasure. YourMileageMayVary.

''Ultraviolet'' is a ScienceFiction / Action film starring Milla Jovovich as the eponymous Violet, fighting in a guerrilla war against the oppressive Arch-Ministry government in a dystopian future.

* {{Anvilicious}}: The awfulness in the systematic discrimination and rounding up of the hemophages is hammered on in one particular scene where a family of hemophages is seen dressed up as Hasidic Jews, complete with biohazard patches.

* JustHereForGodzilla: Milla herself is the reason many caught the movie.

* MoralEventHorizon: The Ministry deliberately terminated Violet's pregnancy. She doesn't know this.
* {{Narm}}: The playground scene, though obviously YourMileageMayVary.

* TheManBehindTheCurtain: Subverted. Daxus is a great deal more dangerous than he looks. Unlike [[{{Equlibrium}} DuPont,]] it's made clear halfway through the film instead of [[{{Foreshadowing}} foreshadowed.]]

* FridgeLogic: Daxus is the "''Vice'' Cardinal", right? Does that imply a ''senior'' Cardinal? Except later they call him "Arch Minister". What is this I don't even
** Daxus signals his army to fire on Violet, then charges forward firing his own pistol. Makes for a [[RuleOfCool nice shot]]... except that Daxus steps ''directly'' into his own troops' line of fire!

* GratuitousForeignLanguage: The Vietnamese gangsters speak (very formal) Vietnamese. Violet speaks it badly.

* BoringInvincibleHero: Violet is often accused of this.
* BottomlessMagazines: People do run out of ammo. Occasionally.
** Semi-justified with the whole idea of "flat-space technology".

* ExecutiveMeddling: The original cut of this film clocked in at about 120 minutes. The version shown in theaters? 88. And apparently, both Milla and Kurt were locked out of the editing process. The extended cut on home video clocks in at 97 or so minutes and is better, but unavailable on Blu-Ray because Sony refused at the time to allow unrated or NC-17 content on the format. Double whammy.

* EsperantoTheUniversalLanguage: Although it's not the only one (I may be confusing this with ''Equilibrium'', which also featured Esperanto).
