* [[invoked]] FollowTheLeader: In-universe. There are numerous people and organizations that have copied Odd Squad, including the Strange Stoppers, the Peculiar Pack, and Rod Squad. While the Strange Stoppers deal in plumbing and Rod Squad deals in curtain rods, the Peculiar Pack is a more saccharine, watered-down, TastesLikeDiabetes version of ''Odd Squad'' as a show, and possibly functions as a TakeThat to Creator/PBSKids and their own shows of that nature (whereas ''Odd Squad'' is one of the more mature shows on the network). Weird Team is an example of another blatantly-copied organization, but unlike the others, it's an EffectiveKnockoff and causes Odd Squad to shut down permanently, leaving its employees out of a job.

* PayPhone: One is seen when Debbie explains how she tried to get to a phone to call for help. The fact that it's unusual to see one in a modern setting is lampshaded by Olympia.

* ApatheticClerk: The manager of the smoothie place Otis works at could care less about hiring potential employees. When Otis lists off his strengths, she interrupts him, asks him if he can fit into a banana costume, and when he says yes, she hires him on the spot.

The movie is notable for having Dalila Bela, Filip Geljo, and Sean Michael Kyer reprise their roles as Olive, Otto and Oscar, respectively, which also marks all three actors' final contributions before departing from the show entirely. It's also Sinking Ship Entertainment's first theatrical movie, as they would later enter the film market with another ''Odd Squad'' movie, ''Film/OddSquadWorldTurnedOdd'', in 2018, and ''Dino Dana: The Movie'' in 2020.

Odd Squad faces a new threat when a competing, adult-run organization called the Weird Team, led by Weird Tom (Creator/JackMcBrayer) and Weird Emily (Hannah Simone), begins solving cases at a rapid-fire pace with the aid of a gadget that can fix any odd problem in existence. As a result, the Big O decides to shut down Odd Squad as an organization, disbanding all precincts and forcing agents to return to their normal lives. As Oprah, Olympia, Otis and Oona struggle with not having Odd Squad to lean on, they soon find that Weird Team's gadget merely covers up oddness as opposed to solving it. Banding together with Olive, Otto and Oscar, who are also out of a job, the group works together to stop Weird Team for good. However, in the process, a new can of worms is opened: Daves -- odd-looking orange creatures who can only [[PokemonSpeak say their own name]] -- breaking out of their room and escaping into the city, all while multiplying by the second. The seven ex-agents must band together with Weird Tom and the rest of the Weird Team to stop the invasion before the Daves cause mass destruction.

** Played straight again at the climax, with Olympia and Olive (female), and Otto and Otis (male) going to space.

* IGotBigger: Otto grew quite a lot between the events of "O is Not For Over" and the movie, to the point where Olive now reaches a little ways past his shoulders. * CoolCar: Weird Team has one, a sleek Dodge Grand Caravan with a custom license plate ("W13RDTM") that's covered in the red and white theme colors of the organization and has their logo emblazoned on the hood. It's meant to be a direct, adult-oriented counterpart to Odd Squad's cars, which are toy cars with no license plates that can only fit one person.

* ActionizedSequel: The movie is a lot more action-packed and has higher stakes compared to the show, presumably since it isn't bound by Creator/PBSKids rules and restrictions. Its official rating is also NR, or not rated. [[note]]When screened in American theaters, it's rated G.[[/note]] In addition, there's a lot more violence, both physical and gadget-related, when compared to the show, which doesn't often have gadgets used on living beings with an intent to hurt.

* AttackReflector: The mirror suits, which are embedded into all agents' outfits, reflect any attack thrown at it.

* FacePalm: Olympia does one when Oscar, Oona and Oprah arrive at the confrontation between Odd Squad and the Weird Team with party supplies to celebrate with. Fittingly, it's similar to Olive's trademark facepalm, which is a frequent CharacterTic of hers.

* {{Flanderization}}: Despite having gone through CharacterDevelopment and becoming smarter over the course of Season 1, Otto still acts like an idiot at times. It isn't super-prominent, however, and he serves as no hindrance to the rest of the group.

* MinorLivingAlone: Olympia appears to have a fully-furnished house, but her parents aren't seen, implying that she might live alone. Otis and Oona aren't seen with parents or homes either (justified in Otis' case, as his home and family is established in the Season 2 finale, but he can't return there). Oprah was established to have a home in "The Briefcase", but it was implied that she also lives alone and it's unknown if she has parents or not. On that note, the homes and/or parents of Olive, Otto, and Oscar aren't seen or mentioned at all.

* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: As the agents are performing a PowerWalk, the camera pans to the left to show Olive with a frown, Otto with a small smile, Otis with a frown...and Olympia with a big grin.

* WeNeedADistraction: Oscar, Oona and Oprah employ Oksana to use as a distraction for the guard standing in front of the door to the celebration room. Oksana being [[TheComicallySerious who she is,]] she walks around and repeatedly shouts that she's "providing a distraction".

* VillainSong: "Something Weird Has Just Happened", a song by Weird Tom which is essentially one long diss track aimed at Odd Squad.

* WhereTheHellIsSpringfield: Averted. When Olive, Otto, Olympia and Otis fire the Half-inator beam at Oprah, they aim it at a spot that looks like it could potentially be Toronto, which is where the show is filmed.

* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: Zig-zagged. When Olive, Otto, Olympia and Otis are doing a PowerWalk towards the camera (and their spaceship), they're holding helmets. However, Oscar interrupts the walk and tells them that they don't need helmets so long as they roll up the windows tight. From then on, they're shown going into space without helmets and can breathe fine.

** Olympia also borrows it when trying to convince Otis that there's still oddness going on around her.
* BrickJoke: When attempting to capture the Ginormouse, the agents spot Mayor Mackelmore holding a cheese festival. Later on, when the Main 7 are rounding up the Daves, he's shown having another cheese festival.

* CurbStompCushion: While the Main 7 manage to beat the Daves back, the creatures put up quite the fight, and they quickly turn the tables on the agents when the final one gets away from them and multiplies.

* {{Fangirl}}: Olympia meets Olive and Otto for the first time, and is so starstruck by them that she can't even form a coherent sentence (much to their bewilderment), leading Otis to handle introductions.

* HeelFaceTurn: Tom pulls one of these at the end, and is named an honorary agent of Odd Squad.

* ILoveTheSmellOfXInTheMorning: The first thing Ms. O says as she steps out of her helicopter is, "I love the smell of cheese in the morning."

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: When the Main 7 pose and [[BreakingTheFourthWall look directly into the camera,]] there's a brief moment of silence as they hold their poses before Oscar asks, "How long do we have to hold this pose for?"

** This is Olive's reaction when a Dave flies onto the spaceship's windshield and begins to double, which weighs down the vehicle and makes it descend. A Dave also manages to knock an engine clear off.

* PokemonSpeak: The Daves can only say their own name.

* AffectionateNickname: Since she can't refer to them as agents anymore, Oprah refers to Olympia and Otis as "little rascals".

* ArtisticLicenseMedicine: Debbie is revealed to have been stuck on the same sidewalk for an entire month with nothing to survive on but pizza. When Olympia and Otis come across her, she looks very worse for wear and while her voice sounds dry and hoarse, it still manages to echo a good ways away to where they can hear it. While pizza is a form of food sustenance, Debbie doesn't appear to have any sort of hydration, and a person without it would die in a matter of days.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Weird Tom's MO and his FatalFlaw. Unlike other agents who take their time and nick away at a problem until a viable solution is found, Tom takes shortcuts, whether that means blasting everything in sight with a gadget in an attempt to find a villain, or covering up oddness instead of simply solving it, claiming that he's a "doer, not a thinker". This manages to get him sent back to the Academy at Oprah's suggestion, but his "doer" attitude continues on into his villainy, as he manages to let the Daves escape from their room due to his neglect to fire the Half-inator at them when they multiply, causing them to begin invading the city. When Oprah asks him to contact the heads of the various Weird Team precincts about the Dave invasion, he has a change of heart and decides to put in the work without the use of shortcuts.

* GadgeteerGenius: Weird Tom built a gadget known as the Hologram-inator that presumably solves any oddness imaginable. However, it took him 34 years to make -- 15 spent on the gadget, and the rest of them doing other things like traveling and house renovations. It's eventually revealed that Odd Squad had plans to build such a gadget, but for some reason was never made.
* GenderEqualEnsemble: Averted with the Main 7, which consists of three males (Otto, Oscar and Otis) and three females (Olympia, Olive, Oona and Oprah).

* RiddleForTheAges: Oksana believes that everyone is gone from Odd Squad because they grew up into adults (hence the Weird Team). At the time of this movie's premiere, immortality was an often-discussed topic among fans, since it was never established if everyone who works for Odd Squad has the ability to remain immortal or if they grow up into adults eventually with no immortality to speak of. Oksana's comment somewhat confirms the latter, and while we've since gotten a hint on aging ability ("Odd Beginnings: Part 2"), the jury is still out on whether those who aren't the Big O age or not.

* ThisIsNoTimeForKnitting: Olympia calls Oona to enlist her help in fighting the Ginormouse. However, Oona's priorities are set on keeping the Daves under control in their room, which Olympia and Otis both reprimand her for, believing the Ginormouse to be a bigger issue. She turns out to be right on the money when the Daves escape thanks to Weird Tom's neglect to keep the amount in their room below 4000.

* WhamShot: Olive and Otto sliding down another slide into the SecretUndergroundPassage Oprah built and revealing themselves.
** Oscar sliding down the same slide Oprah, Oona, Otis and Olympia slid down and revealing himself also qualifies. Even ''Olive and Otto'' are surprised by his appearance!

* WouldHurtAChild: Most, if not all, villains qualify for the trope, but Weird Tom is a downplayed example. He doesn't bring physical harm to any Odd Squad agent, but has no issue in roughly shoving them out of the way or forcefully picking one up and moving them. He also has no remorse about Odd Squad agents losing what is essentially their jobs.

* YourPrincessIsInAnotherCastle: Olive, Otto, Oprah, Olympia and Otis all fight the swarm of Daves invading their town and manage to succeed in re-merging them back into one singular Dave. However, said Dave flies off before anyone can capture it, and as a result, the ex-agents' victory is short-lived as it begins to multiply and advance on them.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Even the normally sweet, kind Olympia loses her patience with Oona after a while and gives her a dose of TranquilFury. Unfortunately for her, the words fall on deaf ears...up until her pleas get to the Scientist, who tells her and Otis that there's no gadget to stop the Ginormouse. Cue a small despaired "What?!"

* EvilCounterpart: Weird Team serves as this to Odd Squad. They have the same goal in mind of beating oddness, but while Odd Squad uses teamwork and perseverance to get things done, the Weird Team does away with teamwork and solves oddness in a snap without the need for perseverance thanks to Weird Tom's gadget. In addition, Weird Team tacks on the "Weird" title to its employees' names in place of the "Agent" title those working at Odd Squad have, and while Odd Squad is run exclusively by kids, Weird Team is run by adults only.

* SanitySlippage: Of all the agents affected by Odd Squad's closure, Olympia is arguably the one that's hit the hardest -- fitting, considering she was a {{Workaholic}} who dedicated pretty much her entire life to her job as an Investigation agent of the organization.

** Otto's voice is a ''lot'' deeper due to Filip Geljo hitting puberty, which is jarring considering that his voice in "O is Not For Over" was more higher-pitched (the only time Otto went baritone being in "The Potato Ultimato").
