The 2013 sequel to ''Film/KickAss'', the sequel adapts the second volume of [[Comicbook/KickAss the comic book]] & the ''Hit-Girl'' interquel.

It's three years after Dave Lizewski (Creator/AaronJohnson) hung up his tights as Kick-Ass, and 15-year old Mindy [=McCready=] (Creator/ChloeMoretz) is starting highschool at Dave's school...in theory. In reality, whilst Mindy's guardian is trying to give her a normal life, she's skipping school every day to train and fight criminals as Hit-Girl. Dave, bored with his life after retiring from superheroics, begs her to take him on as a sidekick. After Dave gets back in the tights, he soon learns that he & Hit-Girl are no longer the only costumed vigilantes in New York, and joins Justice Forever, a group of like minded individuals led by Colonel Stars & Stripes (Creator/JimCarrey).

While the majority of the cast returns, Jeff Wadlow replaces Matthew Vaughn & Jane Goldman as directer & writer, whilst Vaughn remains co-producer. The film opened in August 2013.

* AdvertisedExtra: [[spoiler:Colonel Stars & Stripes only has 7 minutes and 45 seconds of screentime (according to IMDB) before being killed by Mother Russia. But, hey, it's Creator/JimCarrey, after all, so naturally his name is on the poster, and he is present in the majority of the promo materials.]]

* AndYourLittleDogToo: Averted. The Motherfucker specifically refuses to kill Col. Stars and Stripes' dog, saying he was "not ''that'' evil."
** In the comics, he actually ''did'' have the dog killed.

* BitingTheHandHumor / TakeThat: Hit-Girl's taunt about homophobic slurs making a [[ArmoredClosetGay thug sound really gay]] is a pretty obvious jab at Creator/MarkMillar's dialogue from the comic series.
** Not to mention Motherfucker's refusal to kill Col. Stars and Stripes' dog in the movie version (whereas he did in the comic series) is another jab at Mark Miller's tendency to use needless cruelty in his comics solely for the sake of shock value.

* BrawnHilda: Mother Russia.

** A somewhat literal one: During the training montage, the female half of Remembering Tommy places a brick in a purse as a weapon. This comes back in the final fight.

** One of Dave's schoolmates in an early scene is rude to Dave, and is said to be a twitter follower of Motherfucker. The character later shows up as one of the horde of Toxic Mega Cunts in the finale, identifiable by his haircut.

* CaliforniaDoubling: The early fight, with Kick-Ass and Doctor Gravity, is supposed to take place in New York, but shop signs such as Mr. Sub and Telus Mobile says that this is a Canadian corner, most likely in Toronto.

* {{Callback}} The following exchange between Dave and Marty, when Marty finds out Dave is Kick-Ass, is pretty much word for word with one that happens between Dave and Katie when she finds out he's Kick-Ass.

* IdiotBall: Miranda Swendlow posted on Facebook that she's in a relationship with [[spoiler: Kick-Ass]]. This helps [[spoiler: The Motherfucker confirm Miranda's identity as Night Bitch]].

** [[spoiler:Todd[=/=]Ass-Kicker reveals to the Motherfucker that the man who was arrested for being Kick-Ass was actually Dave's father. Despite being remorseful, he doesn't get any comeuppance from Dave or any of the other Justice Forever members.]] Somewhat subverted in that [[spoiler:Todd doesn't seem to realise just how evil the villains are & he probably did not even figure out what they did to Dave's father. Once he realises how evil they are, he quickly switches sides.]]

** 1: The film is much more toned down from the comics as both the filmmakers and even Chris D'Amico's actor were opposed to doing a straight adaptation. Case in point, the comic features [[spoiler:Motherfucker raping Katie, shooting several children, killing Colonel Stars & Stripes' dog ''& placing the head on the Colonel's corpse'', & outright bombing every comic book shop in New York]], none of which occurs in the film. In fairness to the police, they are more used to average criminals than the antics of those who have styled themselves as supervillains, and on their part do put up what seems to be a pretty even fight with [[spoiler: The Motherfucker's goons]] at [[spoiler: Dave's dad's funeral]] only armed with Glock 17s, while [[spoiler: The Motherfucker's goons]] use fully-automatic AK-47s and [[spoiler: Genghis Carnage]] uses a Penn Arms PGL-65. When Dave sends a message to "all superheroes in the city" giving the address of the villains' lair the police fail to notice. The only time they get completely [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomped]] is when they fight against [[HuskyRusskie Mother Russia]], a former member of the KGB who is an even better fighter than Hit-Girl.
