These are recommendations made by Tropers for ''{{LightNovel/Durarara}}!'' fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. Feel free to add a fanfic to the list, but remember to use the template found [[FanFicRecommendations here]].

Do warn when a fanfic may head into sexually explicit or [[BetterThanCanon non-canon]] territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, {{Shipping}} is SeriousBusiness.

* If you love [[DeliberatelyCuteChild Aoba]], don't like smut or if you [[{{Gorn}} love violent]] {{dark fic}}, then this is for you. Most of her stories focus on Aoba, Mikado and Izaya and her pairings tend to lean toward [[FoeYay Mikado]]/[[HoYay Aoba]] (despite saying that she doesn't like the pairing) and [[{{OT3}} Izaya/Mikado/Aoba]]. The characters are always in character. There's a lot of dark humor and character death in her fics. She has a few funny fics that will make you [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments smile at the end]] but most of her fics have [[DownerEnding Downer Endings]]/[[BittersweetEnding Bittersweet Endings]]. Also, this author seems to love [[BreaktheCutie torturing Kida]] [[KilltheCutie in the]] [[FreakOut most horrible]] [[CruelandUnusualDeath ways]] [[HeroicBSOD possible.]] If you love Kida, her fics are not meant for you and if you don't like him...then these are perfect for you. (Saki also gets the same treatment, only worse.) Also, she tends to portray Mikado as [[spoiler: Bosskado]].

* ''Comments'': A suspenseful {{Dark Fic}}. To sum it up, Kida is tired of Izaya being a {{Manipulative Bastard}} and seems to [[MoralEventHorizon cross the line by having the yazuka come and humiliate him by any means necessary]]. [[RapeisaSpecialKindofEvil Which includes rape.]] It seems to start falling into your typical Shizaya fic when Shizuo rescues Izaya from them but it's far from that. In fact, the author admits that she's not good with smut and as a result, all the pairings come off as unhealthy. She tends to focus on [[TheMasochismTango Izaya]]/[[MindGameShip Kida]] and [[FoeYay Shizuo/Izaya]] with Mikado/[[HoYay Aoba]] if you squint. * ''Synopsis'': The city of Ikebukuro is one that holds many legends. One of those legends is the city's protector who was given spider powers from a genetic spider. He vowed to used these powers of his to fight crime and against those who would caused his city harm, and his name is Spider-Man!

** YMMV on this. While there are some very interesting ideas on how Izaya interacts with others, and how Masaomi's revenge causes a much bigger fallout, the story became a slow drag for me about halfway through (definitely after [[spoiler: Masaomi is murdered]]. A lot of scenes seemed to be there just to be dark for the sake of being DarkerAndEdgier, and later events related to the beginning by barely a thread (at least to me. This may be different for different people). For something that originated from a KinkMeme, the fact that v-e-i tried to create an actual story out of the prompt was commendable, but it's still not a story I would recommend people to read, aside from those Izaya moments at the beginning.

** YMMV. This troper found the story dreadfully predictable (except the last part, maybe, because I was hoping for the author to come through with some kind of unforeseen stroke of genius and [[spoiler: save Izaya]]) and the writing rather bland. Shizuo's irrational actions near the end were much too OOC, and far too coincidental to fit the story. In the author's defense, this is their first Durarara story, and the concept was interesting with an original ending, but not something this troper will recommend. I'm not even sure it should be under Shipping. Readers should be warned that this is a [[spoiler: DeathFic]], so fans who cringe from that sort of stuff should stay away.
** I found this story mainly enjoyable, though I had some problems. The characters were in character for the most part, but there were some pretty jarring ooc moments such as Izaya's sudden panicking. I understand that that is a normal reaction to being buried alive, but it was just odd to see Izaya panic so quickly.

I felt the twist at the end was a nice change of pace [[spoiler: however dark]] from the usual Shizaya fics, since they didn't suddenly hurtle into instantaneous romance, which a I find unrealistic. I did find it somewhat upsetting, considering before it, [[spoiler: Shizuo interrupts Izaya killing himself, only for Izaya to die later on as no one could save him.]].

I agree that this probably should've been placed in another folder besides shipping, considering the lack of romantic development.

* ''Comments'': Holy shit. If you don't read any other story in this section, THIS IS THE ONE YOU HAVE TO READ. It's impeccably on point for each character and will stick in your head for months. It's beautiful, not at all over-done and heartwrenching without being too angsty. Bring tissues. This is definitely one of the best fanfictions I've ever read in any fandom. Hands down.
