Kirigaya Kazuto/Kirito and his little sister Suguha happen to notice ''Anime/OnePunchMan'' on the [=TV=], and enjoy watching it together. They're talking and interacting more than they have in years, and nothing can go wrong now...

* PopculturalOsmosisFailure: Very few of the characters besides Kirito and Suguha seemed to know anything about Manga/OnePunchMan until they tell them.

* ShowWithinAShow: ''Anime/OnePunchMan'' is also fictional in this setting. Kazuto and Suguha are big fans.

* PropheticDreams: Selka can see the future in dreams and reflective surfaces, though she has trouble figuring out what they mean.
* ProphecyTwist: Selka foresees Ugachi's death as coming at the hands of "the caped one wearing black and white whose face is darkness and eyes are the void". [[spoiler: Kirito is indeed wearing a cape when he deals the goblin a lethal injury but the killing blow is dealt by Selka herself. Her habit is black and white and her right eye socket is empty, like a void, because she broke the seal of the Taboo Index in the process of reaching Ugachi.]]

* ResignedToTheCall: Kirito, after discovering that his power really are the real deal, resigns himself to be a "Hero for fun".

* TheGlomp: Strea is fond of distributing overwhelming hugs to everyone on the United Heroes Association.

* DefiantCaptive: Just like in canon, Selka is captured and tied up by goblins in the cave north of Rulid. Unlike canon, she uses her {{seer}} ability to majorly unsettle the goblin chief, Ugachi. She tells him that he will be killed in the near future by a caped warrior and there's nothing he can do about it.

* WhamEpisode: Chapter 36: [[spoiler: Equinox's plan with her attack on ALO wasn't to take over ALO's Cardinal System; it was to expel Kirito from the Virtual World, allowing her goals to occur without the one person able to stop her able to interfer.]]

* AnimeHair: Kirito is annoyed when he first logs into [=ALO=] that his hair is now spiky, leaving him only one step away from turning Super Saiyan, since at least it continued to be black.
** Though he is thankful that he still has his hair.
* AscendedExtra: Several. The Black Cats of the Full Moon appeared only on a single story of the original light novels, but here they are developed further, since [[spoiler:they survive [=SAO=]]]. Argo was just a side character that seemingly disappeared after the [=SAO=] arc. Here she sticks around.

* ArmorIsUseless: Zigzagged. For Kirito, armor really is useless, since he can't equip anything besides his Saitama's clothes, but for Sachi it is essential, since the Armor's weight is the only thing keeping her upright when unleashing some of her Unique Skills to counterbalance the weight, but then only because of the weight itself and not because of the protection it gives.

** [[spoiler:Sachi's]] Infinite Spear gives drastic bonuses to the speed and range of piercing spear-type attacks, with short recovery time for its Skills, but also has MASSIVE recoil that can injure the user and/or knock them off balance if they don't have properly balanced and heavy armor equipped, and is best suited to fight large and slow targets or groups of small enemies, leaving the user vulnerable against quick, single, human targets ,like the members of [[SerialKiller Laughing Coffin]].

** Silica is this, [[spoiler: as the poor members of the orange guild Titan's Hand discovered in chapter 8. You DO NOT screw the time of a loli-kunoichi with her Hero.]]

* BadPowersGoodPeople: [[spoiler: Strea]] has the Unique Skill 'Darkness Blade', meant to be bestowed on the worst [[SerialKiller Player-Killer]] in the game, because [[spoiler: Yui]] gave it to her.

* BigBadassBattleSequence: Several such as the War of Ragnarok [[spoiler: 10,000 {{Elite Mook}}s vs as many Alfheim players as the Fairy Lords could muster on short notice.]]

** [[spoiler: This protective relationship exists between Equinox's children, as they go completely mad after one of their own falls]]

* BizarreAlienBiology: [[spoiler:Death Gun's avatar is able to transform itself into anything. It ends up biting him, since it breakes his mind to use so many inhuman shapes and forms.]]

* ChekhovsBoomerang: The Holy Sword Unique Skill. It doesn't make an appearance after Kayaba is defeated, until is granted to [[spoiler:Yuuki.]] Then Asuna compounds on the badassery [[spoiler:and gives her the Excaliber.]]
* ChickMagnet: Kirito, as in canon, also attracts a number of female admirers in this verse as well. The other guys of the United Hero's Association regularly remark on this.

** Applied with [[WhamEpisode EVERYONE]], even the readers as of Chapter 36 when Equinox [[spoiler: [[BeyondTheImpossible managed to expel Kirito from the Virtual World through the Longinus Lance she created.]]]]

** Bicycle Girl for the petty thieves around the neighborhood. Even guys with ''guns'' and sitting in a ''car'' hesitated to directly confront her.
** Inside the [=VR=] games, Kirito becomes this for anyone that goes against him. To put things in perspective, [[spoiler:Kayaba utterly failed to defeat him using the whole virtual world they were in against Kiritama. Even banishing him to a secondary server didn't stop him from coming back.]] He's known as "that crazy guy who punches everything".

* EccentricMentor: Kirito to Asuna, paralleling Saitama to Genos. For example, Asuna is stunned to discover that her MMORPG mentor is "playing hero for fun" in a death game [[note]] also anyone would wear such a ridiculous outfit [[/note]].

** Kirito's heroism resulted in Aincrad being cleared earlier with half as many casualties, including the Black Cats of the Full Moon. Also he doesn't end up the same loner as in canon since Asuna stuck around him from the beginning before they start their own front-line guild; The United Heroes Association. The other girls in Kirito's UnwantedHarem actually get some decent screentime and development instead of being completely forgotten and shafted away to the background. Saint has also done well in fixing several of the plot holes and other unpopular content from canon.

* IAmNotLeftHanded: Kirito has to hold back a lot of his power just to give a fighting chance against [[spoiler:Yuuki]] in their first fight which left her scared shitless when she realized that he was beating her while doing it. [[spoiler: He holds back a lot less in their rematch thanks to Yuuki's new SuperMode. In fact, he found it to be a thrilling fight.]]

* LoveConfession: The first three times left Kirito completely unable to function as his brain overloaded. Then came chapter 32 [[spoiler: with the rest of his female friends confessing to him at once.]]

* MarryThemAll: [[spoiler: Strea and Yui plot to make everyone in the [=UHA=] completely happy by folding all the girls and Kirito into a harem relationship. First they convince Argo into it and said girl also succeeded with Sinon. Over several chapters, they convince every single girl of the guild to go along with 'Plan for Happiness', and Strea even 'scouted' Yuuki for it too, after noticing her growing affection for Kirito. They're successful as of Chapter 32.]]

* MoodWhiplash: Dramatic to comedic switches happen all the time, usually some comedic sanity.

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Sugou wouldn't [[spoiler:end up crippled in real life if he didn't set the pain absortion to 0 before receiving a punch from Kiritama.]]

** Again, Kiritama vs (almost) everything because of his Saitama powers.
** [[spoiler: Also Kayaba vs... also almost everything because he can designate himself an Immortal Object]]

** [[spoiler: Equinox has this as well in Chapter 37 upon [[BigDamnHeroes Kirito returning to help the others]].]]

* PersonaNonGrata: Kirito is viewed as cheater and a hacker in the Virtual World, aside from the people who know him personally. Even the [=GM's=] can't make the Cardinal System view anything wrong with him.

* PrettyLittleHeadshots: Several mobs get their heads punched clean off their bodies Kirito when he was testing his skills.
* RelationshipUpgrade: [[spoiler:Asuna and Suguha agree to share Kirito's affection for both of them. That is, when he is still in the dark about Strea and Yui's MarryThemAll plot.]]

* StealthHiBye: Kirito pulls this off several times, specially to the players he saves at the beginning of the [=SAO=] incident. This leads to him being called "Black and White Blur".

** In [[HotSpringsEpisode Chapter 12]] Asuna and the other girls in the UHA cheer up Strea and Yui, who are afraid of being forgotten after SAO and not being human, by promising to bring them to a hot spring in the real world after they clear Aincrad even if they have to settle for some kind of artificial interface. They made good on the promise in Chapter 31.

* WeaponOfChoice: Everyone has their own preference. Asuna dual wields Elucidator and Fafnir's Fang (The only one who has that ability), Silica uses a fuuma shuriken Yamata-no-Yorochi (Ninja roleplaying), Lisbeth has Mjolnir (the best hammer for the blacksmith), etc.

* WhamEpisode: Chapter 36: [[spoiler: Equinox's plan with her attack on ALO wasn't to take over ALO's Cardinal System; it was to expel Kirito from the Virtual World, allowing her goals to occur without the one person to be able to stop her.]]

* YouCantThwartStageOne: Kirito tries to climb the tower killing the bosses on the way, only for Kayaba to create an translucent wall to keep him specifically out of the dungeons.

* {{Adorkable}}: Sinon is made (more) endearingly awkward in this version of the story. During the Excaliber Arc she was the one that deduced the Quest was about Ragnarok, even going as far as describe it to the others.

* BoringInvincibleHero: Kirito's opinion of himself, especially at first because NoChallengeEqualsNoSatisfaction. He grows to like his power with time - it's part of him, and a good way to help others.

* BizarreAlienBiology: [[spoiler:Death Gun's avatar is able to transform itself into anything. It ends up biting him, since it brakes his mind to use so many inhuman shapes and forms.]]

* ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve: Like in canon, Kazuto learns the importance of willpower in Underworld. He has to believe himself to be the One Punch Gamer in order to use his powers. Maintaining that belief is difficult and the consequences are [[HeroicRROD painful]].

* ClingyJealousGirl: Justice's Wings naturally has a low opinion of Recon, namely "a dumbass obsessed with Master" by she's apparently also protective of "Excalibur-chan". She attacks Klein for dirtying Excalibur with his "greasy hands".

* DidYouJustHaveSex: [[spoiler: Strea was shown to be in a noticeabley happier mood after doing the deed with Kirito.]]

* {{Lemon}}: The Second chapter was one between [[spoiler: Kirito and Strea.]]

* InSpiteOfANail: The Underworld arc has gone wildly off the rails but Tiese still considers Euegeo her senpai because he still instructs her in combat skills.

* LoveEpiphany: [[spoiler: During her rematch with Kirito, Yuuki interprets the racing of her heart as love her opponent. This leads her to steal a mistletoe kiss later on.]]

* SentientVehicle: Suguha's real-life bicycle becomes sentient and becomes a loyal pet/familiar.

* AscendedExtra: Selka plays a minor role in ''Alizication Beginning'' but here she gains clairvoyance and leaves Rulid with Kirito and Euego.

* SummonToHand: [[spoiler: Euguo]] learned how to use his Will to force his weapons to return to his hands in an instant.

* CurbStompBattle: Pureblood Vampire's [[spoiler: A.K.A. Tiese]] fight against Zombieman/Euego is more shorter and more one-sided here than it was in OPM canon.

* CurbStompBattle: The narration states that [[spoiler: Justice's Wings vs Klein and his guild]] was the most bizarre and one-sided and one-sided slaughter in the history of Alfheim.

** Kazuto's is "sensei" which is only used by his disciple, Asuna. He also doesn't like "Caped Sidekick" (that is one is because it is yet another parallel with Saitama).

** Sinon's is [[spoiler: Feline Archer, because of that one time she wore a hoodie in the real world while doing vigilante patrols with Bicycle Girl and Caped Sidekick.]]

* SubmissiveBadass: Kazuto, as powerful as his Kiritama avatar is, finds it difficult to say "no" to his friends and especially his female friends.

* BroughtDownToBadass: In the first chapter when the UHA go to GGO, several of them note with some displeasure how they were unable to use their Unique Skills or weapons (including Yui's gravity powers) when they transferred their accounts over.
