The premise is similar to that of the latter, but with a few differences:

When the ''Indominus'' escape, the park's staff and the troops of the Grey Guard are thrown in a race against clock to prevent the park from falling into chaos and this while ominous signs herald the imminence of another kind of danger.

* FlamethrowerBackfire: During the [[spoiler:ambush in ''The Fury of the Dragons'', one of the insurgents shoots in the tank of Ford's flamethrower. He dies in the following explosion and McNamara and two mercenaries are caught in the fire ball]].

** Many of the Slayers and [=InGen=]'s mercenaries suffers this during [[spoiler:their battle against the insurgent grey guards]]. Ford burst into pieces when his flamethrower's tank explodes, McNamara burns alive in his own armour, Leng has his skull smashed by a horse's hooves and Olsen has probably the goriest death. First, his tendons are cut, then a spear is thrusted into his mouth and finally his head is cleaved by an axe.

** Ammut, the spinosaur who plays an important role in Hamada’s and Brunet’s backstory and[[spoiler: whose skull now adorn Caer Draig’s Great Hall]], is the one from [[Film/JurassicPark3 Jurassic Park 3]].

** Owen Grady: This story’s version of Owen Grady is portrayed less as your classic PG-13 action hero protagonist and more like a Lancer and a HypercompetentSidekick for Dearing in the second half of ''The Edge of Chaos'' and overall shines more through his knowledge of animal behaviour than any action feat (and the grey guards are the action heroes of this story). This also reflects in his appearance, with this character’s version having BarbarianLongHair. He also has a more complex behaviour, by being, one hand, a little bit nerdier and less good with people than his film counterpart, aspects that can make Adorkable in the eyes of some; and on the other, having a sterner and cautious attitude with characters that tends to make mistakes with dinosaurs (Leon in the chapter ''The Raptor Whisperer''; the park’s management with the Indominus during the first half of ''The Edge of Chaos''). He can also show a much darker aspect when pushed against a wall (openly threatening Hoskins and barely having any consideration for the lives of the InGen mercenaries killed by his achillobators) and lose his cool when his emotions takes over.

** Victor Hoskins: In this story, Vic Hoskins is less cartoony and a much serious character. He is a more reasonable authority figure (by taking measures in favour of the park’s visitors and employees security and advising Masrani on some of the issues during the disaster), having some standards (which causes conflict between him and Susan Lynton, InGen’s vice president), being genuinely concerned for InGen’s future, and a FrontlineGeneral (unlike his film counterpart who stayed in the control room during the raptors’ mission). He’s also perfectly aware that deploying raptors in a battlefield would be non-sensical and he explains to Grady that his plan is more to use them for tracking and skirmishes operations.

** Zara Young: Though she seems to be at the first the same AloofDarkHairedGirl than her film’s counterpart, it’s later subverted in the chapter ''Night Life'' where she befriends Zach and shows a more fun aspect of her. She’s also really helpful to Dearing in finding the Mitchells brothers, by searching them among the pictures taken by the motion sensors. However, the later reveal that [[spoiler:she was a spy working for one of InGen’s rivals]] throws some shade on her.

** Ghost-Hand and the Three Gorgons are this to Ingen's troops during the Saurian Wars.

** The unnamed Ingen contractor with whom Hoskins talk with on the beach and who is seen evacuating Wu in the film is given here a name and more lines. He also has been promoted to the role of Ingen Security's number two.

When the grey guards discovers that [[spoiler:this group of mercenaries is actually InGen’s black ops team, things escalate and a war break out on the island between InGen and the Grey Guard.]]

** The raptors from the original trilogy, who had been renamed ''Neoraptor'' one year after the events of [[Film/JurassicPark3 Jurassic Park 3]], turns out to be this as they are a genetic hybrid of ''Achillobator giganticus'' and ''Deinonychus antirrhopus''. This was unintentional from Ingen' geneticists as both species were classified under the ''Velociraptor'' genus back in the 80's by some paleontologists. And it's a downplayed example as ''Neoraptor'' can be easily mistaken as a large unfeathered ''Deinonychus''.

** In the prologue, InGen’s hunters use a box that produces ultrason against Roberta, just like Biosyn’s group did in The Lost World novel against some dinosaurs, including a couple of ''T.rex''. [[spoiler:We learn later that the Slayers have weaponized this device and use it against the creatures they are tasked to eliminate. And just like in the TLW novel, the device broke at one point and one character is brutally killed shortly after because of this malfunction.]]

** Grendel, the company which acted as the main villain in John Sayles’ Jurassic Park IV script, is mentioned as being one of Ingen’s two biggest rivals along with Biosyn.

** The room where the members of Ingen’s board of directors are seen is where Ludlow expose his plan to Ingen's executives in a cut scene of The Lost World.

** The Farm, Ingen’s complex in the Ismaloya Mountains, is based on the facility that InGen uses to grow plants in the novel canon.

** ''Ingen Security'' is partly made of this.

* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: After learning that [[spoiler:''Ingen Security'' stabbed them in the back by using them as unwitting test subjects, the Grey Guards do this as well]].

Unlike the Gaul village, the feral carnivores don't have an happy ending though...

** Claire Dearing: While film Claire started as a “stiff” and acted a bit wooden, this version of the character starts with a more expressed personality (by being a LadySwearsALot, a CoolAunt to Zach, making snarks on regular occasions, successfully putting Owen back in his place and she thinks he’s going too far with his innuendoes, listening some opera while working in her office and walking barefoot in it). On the other hand, she’s also a meaner bos, criticize Masrani behind his back and she cope with the stress of her job by drinking alcohol. The tragic aspects of her downfall are more explored and she suffers from a SanitySlippage in the second half of ''The Fallen Kingdom'', [[spoiler:nearly killing Dr Preston in an outburst of rage, attempting to commit suicide, and threatening the control room’s technicians when they show reluctance to play a part in her plan of releasing Roberta the tyrannosaur.]]

* AdvancedAncientAcropolis: There is an entire underground city and necropolis under [[spoiler:one of Isla Nublar's mountains, built by an extinct pre-columbian civilization]].

** Isla Sorna, and by extension the rest of the Five Deaths, are still this due to their population of feral dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles. Some even compares Sorna to [[Film/Avatar Pandora]].

* GentleGiantSauropod: Subverted. While the appearing sauropod species doesn't show any kind of gratuitious agressivity towards the humans, they can be pose a huge threat if they panic. It also seems that ''Apatosaurus'' doesn't follow this trope since a subadult male attack the Indominus.

* TemperCeratops: This story has two ceratopsian species with a significant appearence, ''Triceratops'' and ''Pachyrhinosaurus''. Though they are herbivorous and seems relatively placid if undisturbed, they can be very dangerous if they are under agression or panicked.
** The stampeding herd near the middle of ''The Edge of Chaos'' includes several ''Triceratops'' and those are responsible for the deaths of several grey guards and visitors. Zach becomes worried when he notices that a huge shark is resting near the tunnel but said shark is revealed to be a ''Ptychodus'', a non-aggressive durophagous species.
