* OppositesAttract: Ryoga is increasingly paired off with Jinx, who, prior to the events of ''Titans and the Lost Boy'' and ''Dark Titans'', was a super-villain, and is still very antagonistic. In RLOADR the other Ryouga is paired off with Nabiki instead, [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope who wants him to head her]] [[PsychoForHire mercenary organisation]] (which pretty much requires him to strongly rein her in if her HeelFaceTurn is going to last). * OutOfCharacter: Absolutely excellent in TTATLB and DT, but:
** The "Road To Cydonia" counterparts of Ryoga and Ranma have been perfectly willing to kill an awful lot of completely outmatched human opponents, even if not strictly necessary, which is one of the most defining qualities that the original characters would as good as ''[[BullyHunter never]]'' do, and it is only possible to take a character so far before it turns into something else, or a narrative spokespiece, which should be reserved for original creations. This is a fundamental massive keystone of the characters that is strongly averted here.
** [[FriendToAllLivingThings Kasumi]] is here perfectly willing to participate in ColdBloodedTorture, and [[ExtremeDoormat Konatsu]], whose entire point was that he had no natural urge to kill whatsoever and had to be drugged by magic to get any, now hears voices in his head urging him to murder while constantly running dozens of graphic dismemberment scenarios in his head, which makes him come across not as the NiceGuy he originally was, but as a socially affable/polite SerialKiller. Canon Konatsu would be running paralysis potion, and other disabling without permanent harm, scenarios.
** A much smaller issue is that Ryoga, whose entire point during the manga was that he liked Akane because he blindsidedly mistook her for a super-strong Kasumi with the same interests as him, and was then paired off with a girl much closer to his/their actual ideal, sans the superhuman martial arts. In both the DT-verse and the X-COM-verse, Ryouga is now mainly attracted to a mischievous sociopath, [[UnfortunateImplications one of which literally looks like a 12-year old]], and his relationship with Akari strictly referred to as a fallback option. Although DT-verse Ryouga ended up attracted to Jinx initially because of mind-control.

Moving the RLOADR-specific tropes from Dark Titans

* AntiHero: DT Ryouga, Raven, and Ranma are types II, but Raven is quickly marching downwards lately. Since arriving in the XCOM-verse, she's lost her telekinetic powers but gained the ability to possess the enemy to turn them into kamikaze meat-puppets. X-Com Ryoga is a type IV.

* BrickJoke: Fairly early in ''Dark Titans'', Cyborg reveals to Ryouga that the T-Brella has a helicopter option. They then proceed to discuss the helicopter option until it drives Robin nuts. It is then never mentioned nor used again for the (current) duration of ''Dark Titans''. Then, in ''FanFic/ReflectionsLostOnADarkRoad'', we get this little gem.
-->'''X-Com Ryouga:''' "Don't tell me. Your Ryouga… His umbrella. Does he really have something crazy like that?"
-->'''Cyborg:'''"That's right."
-->'''Ryu Kumon:''' "What? What does it have?"
-->'''Cyborg:'''"Ryo's umbrella has a ''Helicopter Option''!"
* BrokenAesop: [[GenkiGirl Anime Starfire]] [[OutOfCharacter somehow rationalises]] restraint against non-superpowered opponents as a version of supremacism, and not in the "You should show restraint against the aliens as well" direction, but rather [[KillEmAll the other one]]. [[hottip:*: Possibly a very loose, some generations-removed, memetic leftover from the popular online or GTA style: "If you are willing to accept the unavoidable realities of eating animals, you have to be willing to murder, eat, and put anybody in a genocide camp, or you're a hypocrite, as benevolence has to include all or nothing, and as all is impossible per definition you should all become casual spree-killers, or you are all horrible people" rationale.]] This despite that her teammates would have preferred to use non-lethal force against the alien war-breeds as well, but they were conceptually designed to be impossible to use it against, and near impossible to even keep alive in confinement to boot. However, she also makes a valid point about that the term "inhuman" is contradictory, as there will always be some human perfectly willing to commit any level of atrocity, although the correct term is "[[http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/inhumane inhumane]]".
** Shampoo is also here portrayed as at least as extreme as [[PsychoForHire the Russian mercenaries that Starfire condemned]]. The psychologist that Starfire spoke to, here stating that UNETCO members who started to not find the act of murder unpleasant and actually greatly enjoyed it were sensibly weeded out of the organisation, yet Shampoo is still there without anybody batting an eyelash.

** Used again later. Starfire mentions in ''Dark Titans'' that Ranma and her had a discussion regarding the mechanics of the Hiryu Shoten Ha. Then, in ''Reflection Lost on a Dark Road'', during her battle with [[spoiler: Herb]], Starfire uses the Hiryu Korin Dan, a variation of the Hiryu Shoten Ha that Ranma developed.
* ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve: The source of Brushogun's massive power-up. As opposed to his canon incarnation, Brush realizes at one point that his powers are at their most potent when he copies the work of another artist because people recognize and believe in those copies, giving them much greater power than any of Brushogun's own original creations.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Although it is uncertain how much of this was unintentional and simply inherent undertones in the original XCOM chronology, there are lots of RuleOfSymbolism aspects packed into RLOADR, very FamilyUnfriendlyAesop style or othervise, including Saffron now being an EldritchAbomination [[SuicideAttack suicide bomber]]. ** The CentralTheme set from the beginning of the third part is that we all have to wake up and not spend our lives in a coma, which is a sympathetic in theory if not execution ("Wake up and smell the rotting corpses, burning ozone, absolute savagery, and infinite abyss of despair and entropy!" is probably not the best approach), but not always possible to fix on ones own, especially if it would require a neurological off button, whereas SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids dreams, hopes, kindness, and higher ideals maintained for sanity and tranquility are unable to handle the [[RealLife real world]], [[FamilyUnfriendlyAesop and as such]] are delusions that should evaporate into thin air to be replaced with amoral nihilism.

It is still very well written though, likely even more so on a technical level, which isn't necessarily a good thing when used in this direction.
* MoralEventHorizon: See above. The enemy is deliberately constructed in such a manner that justifies virtually every single aspect of what by real world standards translate as war-crime acts, and with every alternate angle covered, as such idealists are left with no other option but conform, and run over their lines of restraint. That said, in this type of unrealistic scenario, it would obviously be justified as no other option was left, but the narrative is still very (mis)leading.

The ''Dark Titans'' duology is a ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans''/''[[RanmaOneHalf Ranma 1/2]]'' crossover by Lathis. The series consists of two fics: ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2957130/1/The_Titans_and_the_Lost_Boy The Titans and the Lost Boy]]'', written from 2006-2007, and ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3462706/1/Dark_Titans Dark Titans]]'', started in 2007 and still being updated, with the most recent chapter being posted June 16 2010. The premise is very simple: take Jump City, insert the Nerima Wrecking Crew. Set to liquefy, serve chilled. In execution, on the other hand, it's actually a complex work.
