* LetMeGetThisStraight: Keitaro and Mutsumi discussing the old promise in Chapter 18:

* MistakenForGay: When Keitaro informs the girls he doesn't find any of them attractive, Kitsune immediately asks if he's gay.

* DistinctionWithoutADifference: When Shinobu accuses Su of [[spoiler:deliberately getting Naru and Motoko to attack Takaya]], Su insists that she didn't. She just wanted [[spoiler:them to hurt him and make him go away]]. Shinobu lampshades that's basically the same thing.

* ForWantOfANail: Keitaro doesn't dedicate his life to fulfilling a promise when he was five and the entire plot derails.

** When Shinobu calls out Naru for hospitalizing Takaya just because of her baseless assumption that he was sexually harassing Shinobu and her friends. Naru initially tries to dismiss it as his fault, and when that doesn't work calls it irrelevant. A furious and disgusted Shinobu outright calls Naru cold-hearted.

** When Tsuroka calls out Motoko for attacking Keitaro just to please her GirlPosse, Motoko argues that they’re her friends, only for Tsuroka to ask if [[FairWeatherFriend they were there for her when she needed them]]. Motoko flinches and states they had their reasons, [[HesitationEqualsDishonesty but the fact that she hesitates and looks away from her sister makes it clear to Tsuroka that Motoko doesn’t even believe her own words]].

* ArmorPiercingQuestion: When Shinobu tries to convince him to follow his Granny's wishes, Keitaro asks her if she thinks it's right to force somebody to do something they don't want. He then extends this to the rest of the girls, but Shinobu's the only one who takes it seriously.
** Earlier, Shinobu asks two in a row. When Hinata insists Marumi and Kanako can't be the managers as they'd evict the girls, Shinobu asks what would keep Keitaro from doing the same. Then when the girls suggest beating Keitaro if he tried to kick them out, Shinobu asks if they'd do the same to a woman. All of them fall silent at that.

** You seriously do not want to hit Keitaro, [[spoiler:Miyabi]] will go ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend on your face with her ArmorPiercingSlap.

** [[spoiler:Miyabi]] is now known for her ArmorPiercingSlap that can almost give people concussions.

* ArmorPiercingSlap: Seriously, do not mess with Keitaro, [[spoiler:Miyabi]] is going to slap you so hard your jaw might break. [[spoiler:Seriously, go ask Naru.]]

* GirlPosse: Motoko has a small group of devoted {{Fangirl}}s, though they [[FairWeatherFriend abandon her]] later in the story]].

** Kaolla Su gets into this, too. Anyone showing discomfort at her wacky antics is 'a meanie', and she helped spark an incident which led to [[spoiler:an innocent boy getting hospitalized just because he asked her to stop harassing his sister]].

* RoyalBrat: Su is absolutely this. She's ignorant, self-centered, and only cares about her own brand of "fun" at the expense of others. This has bitten her on the ass very hard as she not only eats brownies in the Urashima family bakery that were meant for a customer (and cause them to lose that customer) but ended up having a boy sent to the hospital because she told Motoko and Naru to beat him up for interrupting her "playtime."

* {{Manchild}}: Su, hands down, is this. She doesn't seem to know or care that her actions hurt other people because she's more focused on her own brand of "fun" whether it's eating food that doesn't belong to her or getting an innocent person beaten up because she didn't want him interrupting her "playtime." Unlike the original anime, however, she's not getting a pass here and actually faces consequences.

* CharacterExaggeration: Naru's [[{{Jerkass}} bitchiness]], Motoko's [[DoesNotLikeMen misandry]] and Su's [[BigEater appetite]] are all taken UpToEleven here. And unlike canon, nobody finds it charming.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Granny Hinata's attempts to manipulate Keitaro into becoming manager cause massive rifts in their family. Turns out his parents don't appreciate how she lied either.
** Haruka's tendency to punish her workers and abuse customers she dislikes lead to her [[spoiler:getting sued and losing the teahouse]].
** Su has to get a part-time job to pay for some food she ate at the bakery that was meant for some customers, costing them clients. And even after she pays it off the bakery and other food stores post signs warning about her tendency to steal food.
** After coasting by without paying her rent for several months, Kitsune has to pay it all back or get evicted.
** Naru punching Keitaro nearly gets her kicked out of their cram school, and she becomes a social pariah.
** After being warned several times, Motoko attempts to challenge Keitaro to a duel... [[spoiler:and gets arrested and charged with attempted assault with a deadly weapon. Her fangirls get arrested as accessories]]. This leads to her [[spoiler:expulsion from the Kendo Club]].
** Ryuichi [[spoiler:lost his job after Ogi revealed how he'd stalked Keitaro and Miyabi]].
** After the fiasco with Keitaro, Shinobu starts reevaluating her relationship with the other girls and comes to the conclusion they've just been treating her as an ExtremeDoormat.
** Kyoshiro and Nanami refuse to even consider letting Kanako drop out of school for over a year to go on a world tour with Granny Hinata.

** Su is blissfully ignorant to how her actions hurt people. When she eats bakery brownies meant for someone else without paying for them, she focuses more on how good they taste when she's called out on it and shows no regard for how it hurts the bakery's business. She ignores how uncomfortable her "fun" is making Shinobu's friends feel. When she tells Motoko and Naru to hurt Takaya to prevent him from interrupting her playtime, getting him hospitalized as a result, she's upset that Shinobu's friends are paying attention to the injured Takaya rather her, not caring at all that her actions got an innocent man hurt and that man was also the brother of one of Shinobu's friends.
