* AmericansHateTingle: An in-universe example, the people of the MHA world constantly praise Bakugo because they either think he is awesome (most everybody else) or are too scared of him (poor Izuku Midoriya) despite his crude, rude and antagonistic behavior to many people and only occasionally do people call him out or reprimand him for that behavior. Peter is an exception having been raised on American anti-bullying culture and doesn't believe Bakugo deserves to be at U.A.

* ThrowTheDogABone: Peter Parker canonically has to struggle through piles of crap shoveled on crap piled on him, as the Multiverse seems to ''enjoy'' torturing him with the goal to make him believe Heroism isn't a career option for him. In the Quirkverse, not only people ''do'' believe he can be a Hero, they believe he will be a ''great'' one.

''Friendly Foreign Exchange Student Spiderman!'' is a crossover story taking place just after Peter Parker, ComicBook/Spiderman, [[spoiler:turned to dust]] at the end of ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar''. Here, instead of [[spoiler:simply ceasing to exist]], he awakens on a rooftop in the world of ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' (MHA for short) at the very beginning of that story. Peter proceeds to work towards becoming a hero in a world similar to but very different from his own, where many of the things that once held him back simply do not exist anymore. His current goal is to graduate from U.A. and honor his promise to Tony Stark to become the greatest hero he can be, even if it isn't in his home world.

** BrokenAce: Peter still hasn't recovered from the events of Infinity War, and he's been losing sleep. In addition, he's still coming to terms with the fact that this is not his world and the chance of seeing his loved ones again are pretty low.

to:

** BrokenAce: Peter still hasn't recovered from the events of Infinity War, and he's been losing sleep. He also gets PTSD flashbacks to those traumatizing events, triggered by seemingly innocuous things- such as fingers snapping or mention of things getting turned to dust (like Space Hero Thirteen or Shigaraki's powers do). In addition, he's still coming to terms with the fact that this is not his world and the chance of seeing his loved ones again are pretty low.

* ArachnidAppearanceAndAttire: Peter's hero name is Spiderman, he can cling to walls, his (Iron Spider) costume sprouts spider-like robot legs and he uses webshooters to swing about and trap people. He fits this to a T.

to:

* ArachnidAppearanceAndAttire: Peter's hero name is Spiderman, Spider-Man, he can cling to walls, his (Iron Spider) costume sprouts spider-like robot legs and he uses webshooters to swing about and trap people. He fits this to a T.

* BigDamnHeroes: During the USJ incident, Shigaraki holds Peter hostage, focusing on those who have thwarted his efforts directly (Peter, Momo, and Bakugou especially). Because he's so focused, he completely forgets that there's another hero trainee there. Thankfully, Izuku is able to remind him with a nice, friendly Smash.

** In Japan, bullying isn't viewed as too bad of a problem and is seen as just another thing to deal with growing up. Peter comes from America, where there is a much stronger aversion to bullying, and as such doesn't see Bakugou as "A strong-willed guy with an interesting personality," he just sees him as a jerk who torments people and has a personality like a garbage fire.

* DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler: The Nomu, in canon, got captured at the end of the USJ arc. Here, in order to save Peter, Momo sticks a box containing a thermite charge on the back of its neck, killing it nearly instantly.]]

** Aizawa takes an instant dislike to Peter because of this, seeing him as someone who could be way more effective if he just focused on doing the job instead of making cornball jokes. Heroes who do this are also something of a BerserkButton for Aizawa, considering he once expelled an entire class for not taking things seriously enough on ''day one.''

*** He also shares his web formula with her which has repercussions down the line.

* GreetingGestureConfusion: Peter is still figuring out bowing in Japan and how deeply he needs to do it in appropriate social situations.

to:

* GreetingGestureConfusion: Peter is still figuring out bowing in Japan and how deeply he needs to do it in appropriate social situations. He also gets confused as to what suffixes he's supposed to add to names, or which name it's appropriate to hand out to people (should he be known as "Peter" or "Parker"?)

Added DiffLines:

** Peter is strong and experienced. That same experience also means that he's a BrokenAce who is horribly traumatized by his past experiences fighting Thanos, and because of his origins, can't talk to anyone about it.

Added DiffLines:

** In a sense, the MCU's powers compared to the MHA world's powers in general. MHA's powers and technology are all derived from human ingenuity or Quirks, while powers and tech have more diverse, non-Quirk based origins in the MCU.

to:

* ArachnidAppearanceAndAttire: Peter's hero name is Spiderman, he can cling to walls, his (Iron Spider) costume sprouts spider-like robot legs and he uses webshooters to swing about and trap people. He fits this to a T.

* CultureClash: When Peter first starts out, he gets in trouble for stepping into a hero vs. villain fight, as this world has strong laws against unregistered heroism. This is a realistic result of two hundred or so years of Quirks and powers being publicly accepted things and an attempt to prevent unqualified people from getting in the way of professionals. In Peter's home universe, though, people with powers and abilities have only really come into prominence in the past ten years with the debut of Iron Man (while there were heroes such as Captain America or Captain Marvel or Ant Man who ''did'' appear before Iron Man, they were either kept hidden from the public, deliberately kept themselves out of the public eye, or were one-offs). As such, the MCU world doesn't have laws to deal with powered vigilantes yet.
** What makes this trope worse for Peter is that he can't speak a single word of Japanese- it takes him a year to be able to speak it fluently and prepare for the UA exams, and he still stumbles on cultural norms of the Japanese people.
* CutLexLuthorACheck: Power Loader and Mei both comment that some of the stuff in the Iron Spider armor could make the creator very rich (not knowing that Tony Stark did not become rich based off this technology... he became rich''er'').

** Peter had the canonical death of Uncle Ben in his backstory, not to mention that in order to arrive in this new world, he had to ''literally die.''

* NormalFishInATinyPond: Peter, in his world, is an inexperienced street-level hero whose power isn't that great against some of the things the Avengers go up against, like evil AI's, alien invasions by Norse Gods, or worse. When put into his new world, he's (compared to his classmates who aren't allowed to be vigilantes) extremely experienced and his power is a terrifying combination of wall-crawling, minor precognition, and enhanced human strength.

* RealityEnsues: Peter's costume is one of the most advanced items on the planet, made of nanomachines, powered by an Arc Reactor (meaning effectively limitless power), and a built in AI. Peter is ''smart,'' and he was attending a STEM school for geniuses... but there's "Smart" and then there's what's necessary to fix it if something goes wrong, or to get Karen out of there.
** Peter jumps in to help stop a villain... and lands in a heap of trouble since he technically entered the country illegally, doesn't speak a single line of Japanese, his contacts don't exist, and violated anti-vigilantism laws.
** Peter's armor was made by Tony for when Peter became an Avenger, and thus was prepped on the basis that Peter would be fighting world-ending threats like Thanos or Ultron. It's based on the same technology that makes up Tony's Bleeding Edge armor. Peter bringing it to the entrance exam is a curb stomp.

* UnknownRival: Peter has no idea that Bakugo is gunning for him, thinking he's merely a jerk.

''Friendly Foreign Exchange Student Spiderman!'' is a crossover story taking place just after Peter Parker, Spiderman, turned to dust at the end of Infinity War. Here though instead of simply ceasing to exist he awakens to find himself on the rooftop of a building in the ''My Hero Academia'' (MHA for short) world right at the exact starting moment in that story. Peter proceeds to work towards becoming a hero in a world similar but very different to his own where many of the things that once held him back simply do not exist anymore. His current goal is to graduate from UA and honor his promise to Tony Stark to become the greatest hero he can be, even if it isn't in his home world.

The thread with the story can be found [[https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/friendly-foreign-exchange-student-spiderman-my-hero-academia-x-mcu.720340/ here]]

'''Warning, Spoilers Below'''

!!Friendly Foreign Exchange Student Spiderman contains examples of:

*AllWebbedUp: With his webshooters Peter uses this as his main means of restraining people.
*AlwaysSecondBest: Bakugo lost his first place entrance exams slot to Peter and was bumped further down on the physical fitness test on the first day of school and it ''infuriates'' him.
*AmericansHateTingle: Bakugo was one of the most popular characters in Japan straight away in MHA. In other countries though it took a while for him to grow up before people started to like him. Even in-story people constantly praise Bakugo despite his crude, rude and antagonistic behavior to many people. Peter is an exception having been raised on American anti-bullying culture and doesn't believe Bakugo deserves to be at UA.
*AngelicBeauty: Peter notes that Ibara Shiozaki is this.
*AnimalMotifs: Peter, Tsuyu, Tokoyami, Setsuna and Pony all enact this with spiders, frogs, birds, lizards and horses respectively.
*AnimeHair: Many people Peter see's have this seeing as he's in an anime series now though he justifies it by assuming it is a part of their quirk.
*ArachnidAppearanceAndAttire: Peter's hero name is Spiderman, he can cling to walls, his costume sprouts spider-like robot legs and he uses webshooters to swing about and trap people. He fits this to a T.
*AsianSpeekeeEngrish: Many of the students at UA do this once they realize that Peter is American. Some are better than others but Peter notes that they all have fairly thick accents.
*ChosenOne: Izuku still becomes this as All Might's successor.
*CrazyPrepared: Peter was this for the entrance exam, he was one of the only ones to bring in not only support items to help him but a full on hero costume.
*EntitledBastard: Bakugo, like in canon, is this. He didn't score first place in the entrance exam like in canon because Peter did but he thinks it's a simple matter of showing him up eventually.
*EveryoneIsASuper: One of the basic premises for the MHA universe is that almost everyone on the planety as a 'quirk', aka a superpower. This let's Peter blend his own powers right in and no one questions it.
*FightingClown: He wouldn't be spiderman if he didn't crack jokes and puns in the middle of a fight and he is no different here.
*ForeignExchangeStudent: Peter and Pony are this at UA, both from America and they stand out a good deal because of their non-Japanese looks.
*GeniusBruiser: Peter created his webshooters himself and has noted that he finds math and science incredibly easy. Combined with his powers he fits this bill very well.
**Bakugo is also this, Aizawa even calls him a 'genius berserker' in his inner monologue.
*GiantWoman: Mt. Lady, Yu Takeyama, is this when using her quirk. It offers her a great deal of power and a very dedicated and... niche fanbase.
*GreetingGestureConfusion: Peter is still figuring out bowing in Japan and how deeply he needs to do it in appropriate social situations.
*HeadsUpDisplay: The Iron-Spider suit does this for Peter helping him pick out the most optimal paths to get to targets that it also conveniently also marks for him.
*IllegalGuardian: A positive example in Yu, she doesn't necessarily adopt Peter in fully legal ways seeing as he legally doesn't exist but she sees that he has no where he can go and steps up to take him in and give him a home.
*InvincibleHero: All Might is this to the world at large.
*JerkJock: What Peter sees Bakugo as, and it's not totally incorrect.
*LostInTranslation: Peter didn't speak even a lick of japanese when transported to MHA's version of Japan so a lot of this occurred at first. Taking into account that he's still only been there for under a year and he's also from another dimension it's very impressive that he's able to communicate with everyone as well as he is now.
*PoweredArmor: This Peter comes from the ending of Infinity War where he had the Iron-Spider suit on. It has a ton of features like nanobots to form it up, armor plating and robot spider legs that he can use to tear through things. Oh it also looks cool.
*ProperlyParanoid: Aizawa sees all the oddness in Peter's powers, skills and background and is very quick to be suspicious of him. Seeing as UA has a traitor storyline in canon that is still as of yet unsolved he's right be suspicious even if he is looking into the wrong person.
