** Inasa Yoarashi harbors an irrational hatred towards Todoroki simply because [[SinsOfOurFathers his father Endeavor]] [[{{Jerkass}} (rather rudely)]] refused to give him an autograph when he was a kid. [[spoiler: He ends up getting into a fight with Todoroki in the middle of the Hero License Exam (and failing it for the both of them) because of it.]]

* The fate of several girls in ''Anime/MasterOfMartialHearts'': if the sheer fact that every fight in the ''Platonic Heart'' tends to turn into a death match, it gets worse [[spoiler: when you're made aware that actually the losing {{Action Girl}}s suffer AFateWorseThanDeath itself. They're actually saved, nursed to health and then mindraped to the breaking point and sold into sexual slavery. Just to be sure, many of them get their voice box removed, thus explaining how the loser of one of the previous generations, after escaping her destiny, became little more than the resident CuteMute and harmless mom. Tinged with MisplacedRetribution, since Natsume, the daughter of the aforementioned CuteMute, organized a second edition of the ''Platonic Heart'', thus reaping a whole bunch of completely random strangers, just to lure out the daughter of the organizer of the tournament costing her mom her voice and freedom.]]

One generation later, Natsume and Miko themselves, upon learning what the fuck had gone down, orchestrate the aforementioned copycat crime ring just to get back at Aya for what had happened to ''their'' mothers. This fucks up her brain ''so badly'', the series ends with her trying to put an end to the CycleOfRevenge once and for all before it gets any worse than ''just'' "an eye for an eye [leaving] everybody blind".]]

* ''Manga/{{Monster}}'''s Johan will kill you for seeing him. If you've associated with him, you die. If he [[ForTheEvulz thinks it would be funny]], you die. If you ''sheltered him and his sister'', [[SelfMadeOrphan you die]]. Though if you're [[AllLovingHero Dr. Tenma]] and made the mistake of [[NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished saving a little kid with a potentially fatal bullet wound]], he {{Mind Rape}}s you and dedicates himself to [[BreakTheCutie trying to break your faith in humanity]] instead.

* ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'': [[GiantEnemy Crablante]] tries to kill a little kid for drawing nipples on his chest while he was sleeping. He also mentions that he has killed people for making fun of his looks.

* ''Manga/ShadowStar'''s villains love this trope. For starters, Satomi Ozawa develops a murderous grudge against the heroine that started just because she ''made fun of the name of her school''. Later in the manga, [[{{Ubermensch}} Naozumi Sudo]] shoots two delinquents to death just for throwing a bag of trash in a river...

* This seems to be the MO of Akane Shinjo in ''Anime/SSSSGridman''. She creates clay sculptures of monsters which are then brought to life as {{Kaiju}} by the BigBad. Her reasons for doing so is usually to exact revenge against those she feels have wronged her in some way. For example, she has a kaiju murder her classmates in the volleyball team...because one of them knocked a hot dog she was giving to the protagonist out of his hand, ignoring the fact that it was an accident and she apologized profusely for it. While it's worth noting that damage to the city (which is almost always completely leveled by the time the fight is over) is mysteriously undone the following day and everyone who isn't directly involved with the titular hero or the aforementioned BigBad loses their memory of the event, it still says a lot that she's willing to go so far in the first place. [[spoiler:Considering that they're all in a virtual world and Akane is the only "real" person, she doesn't see the people as, well, people, just snippets of code that she'll delete if she doesn't like them.]]

** Rukia's [[KillItWithFire execution]] by [[InfinityPlusOneSword Sokyoku]] for sharing her powers with [[TheHero Ichigo]], a human, causes the Captains and Lieutenants of the Gotei 13 to take varying stances about it: some believe it fits into this trope and try to investigate the matter, while others think nothing of it ([[spoiler:[[AloofBigBrother or pretend to]]]]) since the law is the law and the orders of Central 46 are absolute (and Kenpachi and Kurotsuchi simply don't care). Turns out, [[spoiler:Central 46 had been killed days ago by [[BigBad Aizen]], [[FakingTheDead who was thought to have been murdered]], and the orders came from him; the execution itself was just a means to obtain the [[PlotDevice Hogyoku]] Urahara sealed inside Rukia's body]].

* ''Manga/GreatTeacherOnizuka'': Miyabi Aizawa loves picking on innocent people who have nothing to do with her problems or her miserable family situation.

[[spoiler:He blames Kutoh for the death of his mother, only friend Tarlia (Seiran Den) and the sexual abuse he suffered as a child]]. He claims he 'wanted revenge on the Heavens that had given [him] hell.'

[[spoiler: To put it simply, in middle school, a student named Nakura tried to stab him for losing a bet that he put his money into Izaya. [[MoralityPet Shinra]] steps in trying to calm the situation and only gets stabbed as a result for protecting Izaya. Nakura flees the scene and all Izaya can do is panic as Shinra is bleeding. However, Shinra [[MajorInjuryUnderreaction says the wound isn't serious]] and to call the ambulance. [[TakingTheHeat Izaya does but then tells]] [[SilentScapegoat Shinra to change the story of Izaya being the stabber instead of Nakura.]] [[KickTheMoralityPet This makes him appear to be an asshole who hurt his only friend.]] However, [[{{Yandere}} Izaya does this because he swears]] [[ThisIsUnforgivable that Nakura will ''never'' get away with it.]] ''EVER!'' So what does he do after that? He stalks Nakura ever since that incident and keeping tabs on him. He makes sure Nakura isn't suspecting him but then at the very end of volume nine after 7-10 years of planning, Izaya finally gets his revenge by framing him for two huge crimes where the bosses of those organizations want him dead. And Izaya makes sure to tell that to him over the phone before hanging up and leaving Nakura miserable for the rest of his life. Because of this incident though, it's hinted that Izaya's entire reason for becoming an information broker is because of Shinra who was the only person that cared for him.]]
** Aoba set his brother [[spoiler: Izumii's]] room on fire so he could get in trouble for smoking and get beaten by their [[AbusiveParents abusive father]], [[BigBrotherBully just because he hit him a few times]]. [[spoiler: Izumii]], however, isn't completely innocent either, since the reason he hit Aoba was because he's under the delusion that he's TheUnfavorite, but risking the possibility of burning their house down and subjecting him to child abuse just to get back at him seem like massive overkill.

* Sōsuke Sagara of ''LightNovel/FullMetalPanic'' breathes this Trope. Strangers who so much as looks at Kaname tend to wind up face-down, on the ground with a gun on the back of their heads, and Sagara preparing to "interrogate" them.
** An example from the first episode of ''[[Anime/FullMetalPanicFumoffu Fumoffu]]'', when Kaname is kidnapped by some punks. Sōsuke tortures one of the gang members to find out who every single member of the gang loves the most.

* In ''LightNovel/MaouNoHajimekata'' it’s implied Aur once suffered a great betrayal that left him completely disgusted with humanity. He then proceeds to become a Demon Lord with the goal of making all of mankind be miserable and serve him as their new overlord, and he constantly tries to upstage himself in extremely nefarious schemes to bring villages and towns to his rule. To add, Aur has a thing for making women his sex reliever, going for mind control and then raping to submission if they don’t like him right away. The catch? Aur is the resident VillainProtagonist and the plot [[ProtagonistCenteredMorality glorifies his deeds]].

* ''LightNovel/NoGameNoLife'': The elf Feel strongly dislikes the Flügel Jibril, which confuses Jibril. As it turns out, years ago Jibril was flying through elven lands and happened to cross through an enchanted no-flying zone. Jibril fell from the sky, hit her head, and decided to ''nuke the elven city''.

* ''VisualNovel/SchoolDays'' has become famous for endings where at least one ''brutal murder'' takes place among the three teenage main characters -- either for sleeping around or just for being [[MurderTheHypotenuse the hypotenuse]].

* Lina Inverse, main character of ''LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'', does this a lot -- sometimes she seems to have only two levels of punishment: shouting, and blowing things up. It's primarily this willingness to fly off her head over little things and react by throwing around {{Sphere of Destruction}} type spells that gives her such a bad reputation. The biggest examples are her blowing up a restaurant for ''stepping on her own sardine'' (amidst complaints saying that she didn't want it in the first place), and nearly drowning [[ThePollyanna Amelia]] in a hot spring after the latter makes an innocent joke towards her.

* In ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline'', Sigurd, encountering Leafa in the Sylph capital of Swilvane in Alfheim Online, complains about her leaving his party, even though the agreement was supposed to allow her to come and go as she pleased. When Leafa's new companion Kirito stands up for her, Sigurd, enraged by him "stealing" Leafa, threatens to kill him[[note]]Unlike Sword Art Online, death in Alfheim Online doesn't kill the player, but comes with a steep EXP penalty[[/note]]- since Kirito, a Spriggan, is in another race's capital, he can't fight back. Luckily for Kirito, [[PragmaticVillainy one of Sigurd's underlings tells him that it's not a good idea to kill someone who can't fight back while others are around]].

*** Interestingly though, this is played completely straight in the Toei anime since Kaiba ''doesn't'' experience the Penalty Game (he escapes by ending their duel monsters game in a draw...somehow). Basically, Kaiba takes this trope UpToEleven by hiring Game Masters to take down Yugi, and eventually setting up Death-T...because Yugi didn't let him steal the Blue Eyes, and [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotHeinous tied]] him in Duel Monsters. Also worth mentioning that the Toei anime didn't include Gozaburo's abusive child-raising and the on-screen takeover of KC was less ''TheDogBitesBack'' and more ''Seto Kaiba is a power-hungry Jerkass'' which does away with his FreudianExcuse...you're really just left wondering what this Gozaburo did to piss Kaiba off...

** In Franky's backstory, the Fishman shipwright Tom was sentenced to death and executed for building the Oro Jackson, the ship Gol D. Roger used to become PirateKing.

** In ''Manga/PhantomBlood'', Jonathan beats [[BigBad Dio Brando]] to a bloody pulp in a brawl until he's literally in tears after Dio forcefully kissed and humiliated Jonathan's LoveInterest Erina (along with snapping after all the other abuse Jonathan suffered under him).
