We find this out when a Rune Knight shows Naruto the picture in ''Sorcerer Weekly'' where it calls him "Fairy Tail's Orange Rocket".
* ''Fanfic/MegaManRecut'' has the password Protoman gives Mega Man in "Future Shock".

Manwë's approach is to reconstruct the titular Sue in a way such that she actually fits into the setting (rather than using deconstruction to unmake her with logic). Among other things, when the story mentions Rapture having a magical amulet, he immediately points out that such a thing is completely superfluous and doesn't need to be mentioned unless it's a defining trait or relevant to the plot. It's immediately excised from the story, along with plenty of other unnecessary baggage.
* In ''Fanfic/TheStoryToEndAllStories'', [[spoiler:when taking stock of their assets, Katniss Everdeen mentions her bow and arrows and Inigo Montoya mentions his sword, both of which come in handy later.]]

* ''Fanfic/RobbReturns'':
** In chapter 63, Jon Arryn manages to [[spoiler: make a deep cut into Lysa's arm as she attacks him.]] Eleven chapters later, [[spoiler: the cut has festered and corrupted, forcing Lysa's men to pull into the closest keep - which turns out to be Bronn's.]]
** Before Littlefinger gets arrested in chapter 35, he thinks of a letter he managed to send just in time for this case. [[spoiler: Chapter 77 shows that the letter was sent to Lysa Arryn, telling her about Cersei and Jaime's incest and their children, and also that Lord Arryn was lying about his crimes and plotting to kill him, which led to Lysa's attack against Jon.]]
** [[spoiler:When he jumped to his death in chapter 72, Patchface claimed it was "A life for a life". Chapter 77 reveals his death paid off for Shireen being healed of greyscale, burning off the scars left behind.]]
** While they prepare Winterfell for the future arrival of the Royal Court and the war with the Others, Ned makes a mention in chapter 62 about having the Broken Tower repaired in a special way. At the end, Alloran reveals that they can use it to cure Marco of TheVirus — they need to scratch his arm with a piece of vacuum coating, wait until it kills the pathogen, and then he can morph to heal the injury.

* In ''Fanfic/LoadedBones'', St. John's wart turns out to be a ward against evil spirits, and Ryou running out is the cue for Yami Bakura to take over again.

* ''Fanfic/ArcVedProtagonists” gives us both a subversion and a straight example at the same time in “Dark Fusion”. At one point, Jaden has to discard his entire hand and we see all the cards discarded. Among the cards is Necro Gardna, a card that has an effect allowing it to negate an attack when it hits the graveyard. You can be forgiven for thinking Necro Gardna was going to be used latter on, but that winds up being a RedHerring. Also among those cards is Elemental HERO Burstinatrix, a level 3 normal monster that is also used as fusion material from the graveyard by the effect of a card Jaden latter plays.
