He possesses a pendant called the Emperor's Key, which turns out to be the key to unlocking a gate to another dimension, releasing the spirit Astral and the ninety-nine Numbers cards. With his own Numbers ace, No. 39: King of Wishes, Hope (a.k.a. Number 39: Utopia), Yuma and Astral must track down and collect the remaining Numbers cards.

Shark even Dueled Yuma to snap him out (successfully) of his HeroicBSOD, despite not wanting to admit pout loud that he cares for Yuma a lot, and Kaito Opened up to Yuma gradually (Thanks to Yuma showing genuine concern for him and his brother) and finally considered him his rival (after calling him a mere idiot earlier), and promising him to duel him as many times as he wants in order for Yuma to achieve his goal (of surpassing Kaito). III even called Yuma his first true friend, and that's coming from an innocent soul who had to live in a broken family situation.

A spirit being from another dimension who meets Yuma after he unlocks a dimensional gate. With no memory of who he is, Astral and Yuma must collect the ninety-nine Numbers monsters to reconstruct his memory. While living with Yuma he tends to make observations regarding daily human life, and possesses great insight into Duel Monsters. As only Yuma can see him, most others tend to think Yuma's going crazy whenever he bickers with him.

After regaining memories from several of the Legendary Numbers, he recalls his mission is to destroy the Barian World.

Known as the number one bully at Yuma's school, Shark is a duelist who once played at the national level, but was banned from the circuit due to looking at his opponent's deck before the championship match. Due to his skills, at first he is arrogant and merciless to his opponents, defeating Tetsuo and taking his deck through the ante rule and crushing Yuma's pendant, but upon being defeated by Yuma he shows that he does have some sense of honor by returning the deck without protest, and Yuma believes that one day they'll be friends.

During his first duel with Yuma his ace monster is No. 17: Leviathan Dragon, and afterwards he switches to Black Ray Lancer. After his duel with III he gains possession of No. 32: Marine Biting Dragon - Shark Drake. During his duel with IV, he is able to use Chaos Xyz Change, evolving Shark Drake into [=CNo.=] 32: Shark Drake Vice. In the manga he gains No. 47: Nightmare Shark instead.

He had a previous human incarnation as the king of an island kingdom. An enemy king (Vector's past incarnation) attacked said kingdom and, after having his Gorgonic Guardians defeated, summoned a deity (No. 73: Abyss Splash the Roaring Waterfall Diety) to smite the kingdom for good. However, his friend, a knight riding a Pegasus (Durbe) arrived to assist, giving the princess (Rio) the opportunity to sacrifice herself to summon another deity (No. 94: Crystal Zero the Polar Ice Princess) to counter. After that, Shark furiously attacked Vector's army and pursued the mad king to his kingdom, where he met a girl named Iris who looked strangely similar to Rio.

Shark decided to fight King Vector on his own to minimize the losses, but Vector started a Shadow Game, which meant the more monsters of a certain player's were destroyed, the more losses their army would have. Shark won the duel, but all the monsters in his deck were sent to the graveyard, meaning, his entire army died. An unspecified amount of time later, he died and was reincarnated as Nasch, the leader of the Seven Barian Emperors, but was killed by Vector, who had also be reincarnated as a Barian and was reincarnated again into his present life. After Durbe shows him his past memories, he transforms back into Nasch.

He later gained a few more, though has apparently lost all of them as well, after his apparent death.

In order to sabotage Yuma, he takes the identity of "Rei Shingetsu" and carries out an elaborate long con, including the fake "reveal" that he was a fictional "Barian's Guardian. Because of this, he is able to convince Yuma to include "Barian's" cards in his deck, after which he stages "Rei's" kidnapping to draw Yuma into the Barian World and reveals his true identity.

Though he uses his sons as pawns, he does show genuine concern for them at times, leading to his regret and apology to them after his defeat. As of episode 71, he has reconciled with Faker, but it's unknown as to whether we'll see him again, as he seems to be trapped in either the Astral or Barian World.

Tron's deck theme is the Heraldic Beasts, based on creatures shown on family crests and coats-of-arms. The Seven Barian Emperors are the leaders of the Barian world, and are its greatest warriors and generals. The Barian world is an alien realm at war with the Astral world, but due to both being [[EnergyBeings energy worlds]] they have taken to using brainwashed [[{{Mook}} mooks]] in the human world to further the destruction of the Astral world.

In truth, they were once humans. Each of the Legendary Numbers is related to one of them due to them being near the areas where Astral sealed the numbers away. They were reincarnated into Barians by Don Thousand because of this. The Barian World itself used to be one with the Astral World, but was separated from it when the Astrals attempted to expel chaos from their world in order to Rank-Up.

Holds No. 58: Flame Pressure Demon - Burner Visor, No. 106: Huge Rock Palm, Giant Hand and [=CNo.=] 106: Lava Palm, Giant Hand Red.

In his past life, he was known as Kiraku Souhachi and was a great warrior, known for being wise and benevolent, often sharing the spoils of his conquests with the populace. He befriended a tanuki, Ponta, while on the battlefield one day. Ponta became his body double. Much of his legend was Ponta's doing. As his body double, Ponta won many conquests. Eventually, he and Kiraku parted ways in order to protect Ponta and Kiraku was killed in a battle.

His true origins lie within the legend behind No. 54: Rebellious Fighter - Lion Heart, which regards the strongest gladiator to ever exist who specialized in unarmed/unarmored combat. He was the prince's rival and friend, and was well respected in the kingdom. One day however, Don Thousand, in the form of an old man, brainwashed both the prince's council and the prince himself, and had Alito put up to death, modifying his memories in the process to fill him with hate, causing his rebirth as a Barian.

However, his true ace is his dragon's even greater form, [=CNo.=] 107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon.

A long time ago, he was the tamer of a dragon who protected the land. However, when disasters struck the land, a shaman from another state declared the dragon responsible. Mizael pleaded with the public for the dragon's innocence, and threatened to commit suicide; however, the shaman's country launched an attack, killed Mizael and the dragon, and took over the state. Mizael became a Barian (and doesn't remember anything), while his dragon became Jinlong, the "guardian" of No. 46: Ethereal Dragon - Draggluong.

Clearly, letting Kaito take over simply out of pride was a bad idea.

His true origins relate to the story of the Knight and Pegasus, which is told in the first set of ruins that hold one of the 7 legendary Numbers (No. 44: White Sky Horse - Sky Pegasus), as well as the pegasus' spirit, Mach. He is actually the knight that rode the pegasus, and a friend of (past life) Shark, whose kingdom he helped save once.

* XanatosGambit: Their modus operandi. If they win their duels against their respective targets, they will obtain the Numbers of said targets. If they lose, and lose their Numbers to those targets, then it's no big lost to them, because their Numbers are merely four out of over a million fakes manufactured by Don Thousand. Additionally, those fakes would react negatively within their targets' decks when the Dimension Fusing devices are activated, weakening the targets. The fakes also serve as a means by which the Barians can track the heroes. Either way, it's a win-win situation for them. However, removing chaos has only led the Astral World to stagnate and decay, with its citizens falling prey to diseases and despair.

The 'god' of the Astral World, Eliphas was created to protect the Astral World from chaos. By expelling any beings with chaos in themselves, Eliphas hoped to help the Astral World Rank-Up. He sent Astral to destroy the Barian World in order to erase chaos entirely, but he feels Astral has been corrupted and seeks to have him purified of the chaos Yuma has infected him with. Eliphas uses a New Order deck focused around the titular New Order monsters and Double Rank-Ups to summon stronger versions of his Xyz monsters.

In the manga, he takes the place of IV for making Shark fall from grace; he tried to steal the deck of a renowned duelist and fails, except Shark takes the blame for him.

He owns No. 70: Deadly Sin, No. 21: Frozen Lady Justice, No. 14: Greedy Sarameya, No. 23: Spirit Knight of the Underworld - Lancelot and 4 other Numbers. He was the former owner of No. 28: Titanic Moth before giving it to Haruto and the former owner of No: 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon before giving it to Kaito.

The first Barian Lord to appear on Earth, he brainwashes various characters using the "Rank-Up Magic - Barian's Force" card, which allows them to summon Chaos Xyz monsters. He's quite physically powerful, but doesn't strategise particularly well, which leads to the defeat of his various minions. Holds No. 58: Flame Pressure Demon - Burner Visor, No. 106: Huge Rock Palm, Giant Hand and [=CNo.=] 106: Lava Palm, Giant Hand Red.

He was known as Kiraku Souhachi and was a great warrior, known for being wise and benevolent, often sharing the spoils of his conquests with the populace. He befriended a tanuki, Ponta, while on the battlefield one day. Ponta became his body double. Much of his legend was Ponta's doing. As his body double, Ponta won many conquests. Eventually, he and Kiraku parted ways in order to protect Ponta and Kiraku was killed in a battle.

The second of the two missing Barian Lords. As with Nasch, they vanished some time ago, and Vector speculates they are in the human world. While Durbe believes Shark and Rio are Nasch and Merag, Don Thousand claims that Vector killed them at some point. Both turn out to be true. She is the owner of No. 103: Ragna Zero, and [=CNo.=] 103: Ragna Infinity, the Funerary Sub-Zero Maiden.

!!Seven Barian Lords (Seven Barian Emperors)
The Seven Barian Lords are the leaders of the Barian world, and are its greatest warriors and generals. The Barian world is an alien realm at war with the Astral world, but due to both being [[EnergyBeings energy worlds]] they have taken to using brainwashed [[{{Mook}} mooks]] in the human world to further the destruction of the Astral world.

In truth, they were once humans. Each of the Legendary Numbers so far is related to one of them due to them being near the areas where Astral sealed the numbers away. They were reincarnated into Barians by Don Thousand because of this. The Barian World itself used to be one with the Astral World, but was separated from it when the Astrals attempted to expel chaos from their world in order to Rank-Up.
