* DeathOfPersonality: It's implied that he was "killed" when the main timeline Logan returned to a now altered 2023, taking over his body and expressing confusion over the changes to the timeline.
* DemotedToExtra: Unlike his main timeline counterpart, who plays a major role in the films, this Logan only makes small appearances in two films.

* VitriolicBestBuds: Logan and Xavier, bordering on a bromance version of AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther. Despite their grumpy demeanor around each other and their constant arguing, Logan treats the aged (and increasingly demented) professor more as a father than a mentor. Including having built his life around being his caretaker and planning on fully retiring with him on a boat. [[spoiler:This even goes so far that, while Laura gets abducted ''in his presence'', he is more occupied with looking for Xavier without any delay and doesn't even lift a finger to help her until it's taken care of.]] It's quite clear that Professor X is basically the only family he has left.

Misuse (for characters that are less capable in an adaptation; not for a minor power decrease).

* AdaptationalWimp: A ''minor'' case; while also qualifying as being an AdaptationalBadass for reasons mentioned above, he loses his mastery of numerous martial arts in the process. In the comics, he knew 28 variations of kung fu alone, could use pressure points on not just humans but aliens and supernatural beings, and his swordsmanship impressed the legendary Silver Samurai. Here, he largely relies on his HealingFactor and adamantium skeleton, without much in the way of technique. It's a good thing his prowess outside of this has been upped to compensate.

Hurting Hero is a disambiguation

* HurtingHero: Logan is highly-susceptible to this. ''X-Men'' sees him introduced as an angry, bitter, amnesiac who makes his living abusing his HealingFactor to win prize money in cage fights, and initially only agrees to stick around because Charles promises to help him find answers about his lost past. The aftermath of ''The Last Stand'' and beginning of ''The Wolverine'' sees him almost completely broken by the loss of Xavier and the death of Jean, he's living alone in the wilderness with an enormous BeardOfSorrow when Yukio finds him, and Yashida attempts to exploit his world-weariness by offering to take away his healing factor so he can be allowed to die (and so Yashida can use it to save ''himself'' from the cancer that's killing him).

Added DiffLines:

* AdaptationalAngstDowngrade: His time in the Weapon X program. In ''Origins'', while horrific, the adamantium bonding process is much less brutal, and he escapes immediately. In the comics, he isn't duped into joining Weapon X, but is rather abducted and tortured horribly before, during and after the main procedure. Likewise, he doesn't escape by jumping down a waterfall, but is instead left naked in the freezing Canadian winter with total amnesia.
* AdaptationalHairstyleChange: As the movies went on, his hairstyle became more and more toned down and normal, though he did have his signature pointed hair in the first few movies.
** Likewise, his mutton chops are much longer, with only his upper lip and chin being clean-shaven. However in the comics, where Wolverine usually wears a mask, his sideburns are shorter as to not show through the mask.

* AdaptationalHeroism: In the comics, Pre-Weapon X mind wipe, Wolverine was an outright horrible person, almost on par with Sabretooth, with his most villainous action probably being what he did to Frank Simpson (kill his nanny, drive his dad into suicide and horribly torture the young man into a relentless killing machine). Movie Wolverine on the other hand was always the MoralityPet for his slowly deranging brother and the TokenGoodTeammate of Team X.

Added DiffLines:

* AdaptationalCurves: While he's definitely got an impressive build, it's ''nothing'' compared to how absurdly muscular he is in the comics. This is because Logan in the comics, despite being a full foot shorter than Hugh Jackman still weighs 15lbs ''more'' without even factoring in the adamantium. Simply put, 195lbs of muscle is already big, put it on a 5'3 frame and it's ''insane''.

Added DiffLines:

* AdaptationalRelationshipOverhaul: Sabretooth is his brother, unlike in the comics. In the comics, Sabretooth was supposed to be revealed as Logan's father, which never came to be. Later he was implied to be Logan's half-brother Dog, which the movies ran with, however the comics ended up confirming Dog Logan ''isn't'' Victor Creed, despite their similarities.

Added DiffLines:

* AgeLift: Hard to notice given his powers, but this version of Logan is ''much'' older than his 616 counterpart. In the comics, Wolverine was a child in the late 1880s, whereas the movie version manifested his powers in the 1840s and was a grown man fighting in the American Civil War.

* TheProtagonist: Unofficially. Though the X-men film series doesn't have an official protagonist, Logan is the closest thing, with the most screen time, most movie appearances, and even has several solo movies dedicated specifically to his character, which most other characters don't get. He even gets a cameo in First Class, a movie that he doesn't really need to be in (but Fanservice says otherwise).
