* HateSink: Given how she was willing to sell out her own planet to General Morando, as well as her xenophobia against extraterrestrials, it's clear that Kubritz was meant to be despised by the audience, [[spoiler:at least until the end, and even then, her death is still extremely karmatic anyway.]]

* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: She considers Aja, Krel, and Stuart to be "evil invaders" that need to be captured and imprisoned at all costs when really Aja and Krel are refugees and Stuart crash-landed there by complete accident. [[spoiler:Yet she is willing to work with the ObviouslyEvil Morando and help him become a ''PhysicalGod'' because he told her that he would conquer and/or remake the entire universe ''except'' Earth. * AdaptationSpeciesChange: By the end of the original novel, Steve was revealed to be a changeling. In the show, however, he is fully human, proven straight when he was hit in the head with Jim and Toby's Gaggaletack onstage and didn't change.

* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: Has a proud habit of breaking promises after making an alliance, even briefly, like with [[spoiler:Tronos and the Tarrons after they helped her destroy an asteroid. Of course, Krel predicted that Kubritz would go back on her word from the very beginning while Tronos is not so surprised, but resentfully [[LampshadeHanging calls her out]] for this nonetheless.]]

* DemotedToExtra: Doesn't really appear much in Part Three of Trollhunters, obviously to compensate for his role in [=3Below=].

* LaserGuidedKarma: Before his CharacterDevelopment, he has plenty of these:
** He spends the first half of Trollhunters season 1 trying to get her revenge on Jim for him breaking his tooth, from trying to beat him up to taking his place as Romeo for the school play, just to flirt with Claire and get under his skin. When he arrogantly tries to challenge Jim for a Vespa race (when he's being chased by a Stalkling), Steve ends up totaling his Vespa. As a result, he develops a concussion and can no longer play Romeo.
** In the beginning of season 2, Steve continues [[UnsportsmanlikeGloating gloating about his Spring Fling King crown and scepter, even though the dance ended two weeks ago]]. He [[KickTheDog sadistically mocks Toby for Jim's absence]], even when the latter does everything to get rid of him and the former just refuses to leave him alone. Steve gets another short end of the stick when [[TheDogBitesBack Toby gets him arrested as payback for not leaving him alone and making fun of his friends]].

* DemotedToExtra: Like Steve, he doesn't appear much in Part Three of ''Trollhunters'', due to his more prominent role in ''[=3Below=]'', but is [[PutOnTheBus completely absent]] from ''Wizards'' to become an Earth Ambassador for Akiridion-5.
** Eli also doesn't have a big role in ''Rise of the Titans'', but is responsible for designing the secret weapon – the Gun Robot Megasuit – to help Varvatos battle the Fire Titan.

* IGotBigger: When he returns to Earth, Eli has ''significantly'' matured so much that Steve instantly didn't recognize him. Turns out, according to Eli himself, puberty had a very pleasant effect on him during his stay on an alien planet for almost a year.

* PutOnTheBus: Eli is completely absent in ''Wizards'', due to visiting Akiridion-5 as an earth ambassador. Although [[TheGhost he's mentioned a few times by Steve]].
** TheBusCameBack: After spending a year on Akiridion-5, he returns to Earth alongside Aja in ''Rise of the Titans'', [[IGotBigger now physically more mature than when he first left]].

* LightEmUp: This trope applies to the Akiridions in general. They are beings of light whose corporeal bodies are formed by their cores. And the bulk of their gear is based around hard-light constructs.

* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: To Jim from ''WesternAnimation/{{Trollhunters}}''. Jim is a responsible, only child, that always steps up to occasion, whereas Aja is much more rebellious and emotional than he ever was. Jim wanted something amazing to happen in his, but Aja just wanted to be normal.

* InsufferableGenius: His haughtiness and impatience with Earth's lesser developed sciences don't endear him very much to his fellow students and the season ends with him having barely made any friends.

* IChooseToStay: [[spoiler: After Krel decides to remain in Arcadia, Ricky and Lucy decide to stay as well.]]

* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Eli Pepperjack, of all people. He cries out for Pepperjack several times and after the end of [=3Below=], [[spoiler: he's about as upset about losing Eli as he is about losing Aja]].

* OmnicidalManiac: [[spoiler: In season 2, he plans on remaking the universe once he gets his hands on Gaylen's Core.]]

* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: [[spoiler: After he's merged with Gaylen's Core, Morando is completely black, save for his eyes and neon lights, which have turned red at this point. He also gains red wings shaped like Gaylen's.]]

* LastOfHisKind: It is strongly implied he is the only survivor of his planet's destruction, [[spoiler: which makes his murder by Morando the final extinction of his species]].

* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler: She dies very ''very'' quickly in the finale. You don't feel bad for her. She imprisoned, experimented on, and tortured Stuart and Buster for decades, don't forget... and even opened fire at ''countless'' innocent civilians when her insanity reached the boiling point.]]

* YouMonster: [[spoiler:Everyone in Arcadia remarks to Kubritz just how much more human Aja and Krel truly acted compared to the despicable war crimes she's inflicted upon everyone with her army of destructive OMENs. Kubritz is briefly taken aback... until she menacingly [[SadisticChoice threats the people of Arcadia to turn over the Tarrons or she would ''kill them all'']].]]

* EveryoneHasStandards: Costas assists Kubritz in capturing extraterrestrials no matter if they're dangerous or not, but he has far more decency than his superior. The first sign of this is his shock at Kubritz going back on her deal with the Tarrons despite the fact that they helped save Earth from the asteroid in "Asteroid Rage". Then his increasing discomfort with his superior working with Morando [[spoiler: eventually pushes him to defect to the Tarrons]].
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: At the beginning of "A Glorious End - Part 1", he defects to the Tarrons to help them defeat Morando and Kubritz]].
* HiddenDepths: Costas has a good knowledge of electronics, [[spoiler: allowing him to help Stuart build the mega-blaster to kill Morando]].

* PosthumousCharacter: Both are dead by the time of the series, but they still have a lasting impact as [[spoiler: Morando merged with Gaylen's Core and gained powers on a cosmic scale, so Aja and Krel needed to use Seklos' Cannon to destroy him]].

* CatchPhrase: "Lively."

* CharacterWitness: Aja saved Izita's daughter from falling rubble during the coup, leading the older woman to become a member of the rebellion to restore the Tarrons to the Akiridian Throne.

* PutOnTheBus: Unlike Krel, Aja is completely absent in ''Wizards'' as she's back on Akiridion-5, but she is mentioned by her boyfriend, Steve, when he sends her a text before the Battle of Killahead begins. It's unclear if she ever got the text.

* RacistGrandma: Her human disguise comes off as this, being scathing and suspicious of Aja and Krel due to them clearly not being from the United States to the point where [[SternTeacher Senior Uhl]] tells her to lay off them
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: She gives Aja and Krel a ton of paperwork to fill out to prove they're U.S. citizens, but that's only so she can find out where they live to ambush them and take their parents' cores.

* TheGoodKing /TheHighQueen: They are both beloved by their people for being just and fair rulers.

* ShoutOut: Their names are a nod to Ricky and [[Creator/LucilleBall Lucy Ricardo]], a famous 1950's sitcom couple from the hit show ''Series/ILoveLucy''.

* AnAxeToGrind: In ''Wizards'', he gets an axe made from one of Nimue's teeth. There's nothing special about it aside from it being a giant monster tooth, but it's something at least.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's an unrepentant bully and season 2 proves that deep, ''deep'' down, Steve has the capacity to be brave and selfless and befriend others. He maintains a strong friendship with Eli for the rest of the series and starts dating Aja when they meet.

* CoolPet: What's not cool about an alien canine that's an ExtremeOmnivore that can urinate lasers and fart fire?

* {{Jerkass}}: He's an unrepentant bully, though he eventually grows into a JerkWithAHeartOfGold as he learns to care for Eli and Aja and even Jim, to a degree.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Season 2 proves that deep, ''deep'' down, Steve has the capacity to be brave and selfless and befriend others. He maintains a strong friendship with Eli for the rest of the series and starts dating Aja when they meet.
