* {{Jerkass}}: Lehto is an overall unpleasant person to be around, and only competes with the likes of Lammio in this department. But unlike in Lammio's case, whatever Lehto has going on with his tough facade is just a front to hide his insecurities.

* TheBully: Riitaoja's weakness and uncontrollable emotion and fear drives him mad, and he's cruel to him, to the point of physical violence. [[JerkassHasAPoint On the]] [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure other hand]], he also looks after Riitaoja, who is constantly missing and gets left behind. Lehto would want to have him sent away from the front and out of active duty, but Lammio refuses this wish. Lehto is also shown to treat his other subordinates in a similar bullying fashion, although never to the point of physical abuse like in Riitaoja's case.

* AxCrazy: Lehto is definitely not quite right in the head. He is aggressive, cruel, prone to violent outbursts even outside battle and has some self-destructive tendencies as well. Considering his upbringing, it's no surprise. The others even think that Lehto would be similar to Karjula if he was higher higher in rank, albeit without Karjula's respect for disciplinary.

* NationalStereotype: A subversion of the curious, chatty and sociable people of Pirkanmaa, Lehto is cold, unfeeling and cruel to everyone, particularly the enemy soldiers.

* NationalStereotypes: Subverts (and perhaps deconstructs) the stereotype that people from Ostrobothnia are supposed to be [[RatedMForManly brave, strong, manly and heroic, with perfect self-esteem and bellicose attitude.]]

* HundredPercentAdorationRating: It's no hyperbole, the men utterly love Koskela. They take it to the point where they want him to have everything a little bit better than what they themselves get. Koskela in turn constantly tries to be just like any other member of the platoon and do the same and get the same as the others. When they build their dugout, Koskela would want to sleep in the bunk bed like the rest, but they demand that he must have a single bed of his own. Koskela is more successful in insisting that he too must take turns to wake up at nights to watch over the fire in the stove.

* WeaponOfChoice: [[CoolGun The Suomi submachine gun]]. Hilariously, Rokka gets it by literally yanking it out of Kariluoto's hands and commanding him to give it to him. Kariluoto is so confused by the bossy personality of this self-certain Corporal who appeared out of nowhere, that he allows it to happen and even lets Rokka to order him around during the assault.
