** In terms of the Force, Luke seems to be the perfect counterpart to the Emperor, in that there doesn't seem to be an ability that he can't master if he puts his mind to it. While George Lucas stated that Anakin never managed to fulfill his own vast potential, he also stated that Luke had the potential to do so, and by all counts he did. Literature/TheCourtshipOfPrincessLeia sees Luke instinctively healing himself from the brink of death, and Literature/ShadowsOfTheEmpire features the Jedi instinctively learning to enhance his reflexes with The Force, which he goes on to master to the point that he can use it during combat at any time. His skill with Telekinesis is such that he can knock down AT-AT's with ease, rebuild Darth Vader's castle, and later tear the same castle down. He can also do more basic things, like absorb laser blasts and cast Jedi Mind Tricks.

Corran later is extremely shaken up when he's hit by the "disturbance in the Force" caused by Kyp destroying Carida, even running outside and throwing up. Given that said disturbance in the force was caused by the ''destruction of a planet'', and that said disturbance caused Corran to witness the horrifying deaths of the people there pretty much firsthand, it's actually understandable.

A female human, Eelysa was born on Coruscant after the death of Emperor Palpatine. She became one of Luke's earliest students, and ascended to the rank of Jedi Master at a very young age, often going on long term undercover missions for the Order. During that time, she found and trained several Jedi, including saba Sebatyne. During the Yuuzhan Vong War, she became one of the first Jedi victims of the voxyn.

* AntiVillain: At the same time, the only thing that ever made her an antagonist at all was Palaptine's curse over her. Her personal vendetta against Luke is out of a desire to end a vision that has been haunting her for five years.

* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: A literal example: as a child his parents were killed for speaking out against the Empire and he was thrown into [[HellholePrison Kessel]] for life. After he escapes, he manages to steal the Sun Crusher (a space ship that can cause stars to go supernova]] and uses it to blow up the sun of the Carida system and destroyed all the planets there.

** Unlike the Old Jedi, who stayed in the Temple most of the time and only came out to solve crises, Luke encouraged his fellow Jedi to go out and be involved in the Galaxy, making friends with the locals during times of peace. Luke did this to make the Galaxy see that the New Jedi weren’t some isolated warrior monks who served the Galaxy’s elites.

The obvious example is his father, who Luke refused to strike down in a moment of anger and who he never stopped believing in, even when he was being shocked with Force Lightning by Palpatine. While he doesn't make an attempt to redeem every single Darksider that he comes across, Luke's belief in and commitment to redeeming people remains with him throughout the series. After a lifetime of working against the governments that Luke had fought to found and support, he still believed that Lumiya could be redeemed during the events of ''Literature/LegacyOfTheForce''. Despite falling to the Dark Side and abandoning Luke's Academy, Luke never stopped trying to redeem Brakiss whenever they met during the events of TheNewRebellion and the YoungJediKnights series respectively, even taking it as a personal failure that he couldn't help the other man.

* HotForStudent: A non-creepy example since both were adults, but Luke ended up marrying Mara Jade, who was both a formal student as his Jedi Praxeum and an informal student during the events of TheThrawnTrilogy and HandOfThrawn respectively.

* TheIdealistWasRight: Darth Vader. Despite Obi-Wan and Yoda's assurances that Vader and Palpatine both had to be killed, it ended up being Luke's faith in his father that proved them wrong and subsequently led to the Emperor being killed at Vader's hands. This is played with regarding Kyp Durron. Luke suffers criticism at the hands of Corran Horn during the JediAcademyTrilogy, when Kyp is basically let off scott free for killing millions. However, Kyp goes on to become one of the New Jedi Order's most powerful and skilled members and even earns a seat on the Jedi Council alongside Luke AND Corran. But, Kyp also proves to still be a source of grief for Luke in later years, specifically during the ''Literature/NewJediOrder'' series, in which Kyp leads a splinter faction of Jedi committed to fighting the Yuuzhan Vong even though Luke has ordered the Jedi not to do so.
* IfYouKillHimYouWillBeJustLikeHim: The major lesson Luke learns from his first journey into the cage on Dagobah and what he has to face again on the Second Death Star. This is also the reason he decides not to kill Darth Caedus on the ''Anakin Solo'' during the events of ''Literature/LegacyOfTheForce''; he's afraid that him killing Caedus will cause his son Ben to fall to the Dark Side and become another Caedus. Luke later goes out of his way to avoid fighting and killing Caedus for the same reason, only in regards to himself instead.

* OldMaster: In ''Legacy of the Force,'' he's in his sixties, and still as powerful and skilled as ever-more so, even. Over the course of ''Legends'', he also grows from a rash young man into an adult who is almost always calm, serene, and completely centered in The Force.

Through the turmoil, Luke has gained and lost much: he married former Emperor's Hand Mara Jade and had a son named Ben, but also lost his nephew Anakin Solo and close friend Chewbacca in the Yuuzhan Vong War, and his other nephew Jacen fell to the Dark Side, becoming Darth Caedus, and was killed by his twin sister Jaina, but not before [[spoiler:murdering Mara to secure his place as the new Dark Lord of the Sith.]] He continued to lead the Jedi Order against Abeloth and the Lost Tribe, before eventually retiring in ''Literature/{{Crucible}}.''
