[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin A very large purple cat]] who lives in the Mystic Ruins along with his pet Frog, [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment Froggy]]. During the events of ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'', Froggy ate a piece of Chaos which made him act strange and swallow the Chaos Emerald Big had found. Worried about his friend, Big set out to rescue him and gets caught up in the events as a result. Since then, he's become a good friend of Amy and Cream.

** Amy is one letter away from "ami", which means "friend" in French (Though the word is pronounced differently).

* SuperStrength: Surprisingly so. While still nothing impressive compared to actual strength characters, she's still strong enough to carry Big the Cat.

** Due to {{Flanderization}} in the 2003-era, Amy's obsession with marrying Sonic took over her entire character, and her anger issues became more pronounced than ever implied in the two Adventure games, not to mention [[RetCanon this element is taken over]] from ''Anime/SonicX''. This led to her infamous reputation in pop culture as a psychotic love interest.

** After these last games though, Amy personality took a dive, and she returned to be more level-head while still been in love with Sonic around 2006-08. Any attempt at violence from her part would be justified, like in ''Sonic Riders'', where she only starts to phisically hurt Sonic after he hurt her to defeat Eggman.

In the modern games, Sonic remains 15, but Amy was bumped to 12. There's probably enough of a maturity gap for it to qualify for this trope, though. * SuperMode: Averted. While Sonic, Shadow, and Silver have all used the Chaos Emeralds to transform into super forms, Amy's never been implied to be capable of a similar feat. Even Blaze who's female and a cat has been shown to have a Burning form with the Sol Emeralds at least once. So far she's the only hedgehog that's not used Chaos powers in some way.

* {{Yandere}}: Shows slight shades of this, particularly in ''VideoGame/{{Sonic Rush|Series}}''. Upon meeting Blaze, she warns her that she's Sonic's girlfriend, and that she won't let anyone else have him. Later, when Sonic asks Amy if he's seen Blaze, she immediately jumps to the conclusion that Sonic is in love with her, only calming down once Tails explains that it's not like that. It's PlayedForLaughs, of course, but her obsession with Sonic is clearly unhealthy.

* AdaptationalWimp: Cream is an odd case in adaptations, such as ''Anime/SonicX'', and the two comic book series, where she is shown to be weak, and in need of constant protection from other characters, despite her coming across as capable in gameplay. Granted, she's still a year or younger than Tails.

* AmbiguousGender: Cheese's gender varies depening on the media, though Chao in general are gender neutral. Cheese, is male in a vast majority, though female in ''Anime/SonicX'' (at least in the english dub). The ''[[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogIDW IDW comic series]]'' has Cheese stick closer to the neutral ["They"] gender.

** Sometimes, even ''better'' than her older teammates. Amy and Big both have a few games where they're completely reliant on their hammer or fishing rod, respectively, to attack. As often as she utilises Cheese to similar effect, Cream's always got the option of curling into a ball and slamming into enemies herself like Team Sonic always does.

A very young rabbit and her pet Chao, Cheese. Cream made her debut after her mother [[http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080120041707/sonic/images/d/d5/Vanilla.png Vanilla]] was kidnapped by Dr. Eggman in another one of his schemes, but was ultimately rescued by Sonic. Due to her young age, she tends to stay out of the action most of the time, but can step up if the situation calls for it.

Due to her upbringing, Cream is an extremely docile and polite individual. She refers to almost every character by attaching the prefix "Mr." or "Ms." to their name. She's also a rather timid individual, but nonetheless tries her best to help her friends out when they need it.

* MaybeEverAfter: Temporarily. In the HD version of ''VideoGame/SonicUnleashed'', Amy asks Sonic out on a date, which the player can either accept or decline. At the end of ''VideoGame/SonicAndTheBlackKnight'', it's revealed that Sonic had a date with Amy, but missed it because of his adventure. Amy thinks it's just an excuse for him forgetting about their date, and promptly chases him with her hammer.

* DamselInDistress: During her debut, she was hold bait by Eggman as she have to be saved by her new friend Sonic, she and Cheese have to be saved by Shadow in their only appearance in ''Videogame/ShadowTheHedgehog''; Blaze at the end of ''Rush'' has to save Cream due to Eggman capturing her. In ''Sonic Chronicles'', she can only join the party if she is found by the party, as she lost Cheese.

Amy Rose was created in response to a request from the character division of Sega's licensing business, who wanted a character that could be the "Minnie" to Sonic's "Mickey". However, it was felt at the time that it would go against Sonic's personality for him to locked into a standard cartoon relationship like Mickey and Minnie (albeit a very loving one). Instead, it was decided that, at least for a while, a one-way relationship, where Amy's affection for Sonic is largely unrequited, would be more interesting.

An energetic pink hedgehog whom Sonic rescued back in ''Sonic CD''. Initially she was a fan of Sonic's who she desperately wanted to meet, but their meeting was soon cut short with the arrival of Dr. Eggman and his new creation, Metal Sonic. Metal kidnapped Amy and Sonic had to save her and stop Eggman's plan of using Little Planet to mess with the timeline. After Eggman's defeat, Amy fell completely in love with Sonic and has made numerous attempts to start a relationship with him, often getting mixed up in his adventures as a result, much to his chagrin.
