* TruthInTelevision: Even before she was even confirmed via WordOfGay, fans theorized she was lesbian because it's not unheard of for [[ComingOutStory people to date others of incompatible sexualities/orientations before they realize what they're actually attracted to]], especially since as a teenager, Velma would be confused about this aspect of her identity. Velma spends Season 1 trying to force a relationship between herself and Shaggy, only to realize it won't work out (both because Shaggy is uninterested and trying to make it work turns her into an unpleasant person), then she starts growing a relationship with Marcie that eventually becomes one of a romantic nature and she's clearly more happier in this one than with Shaggy.

* AmbiguouslyBi: While Scooby has always been attached to Shaggy due to them being best friends, this version may be a little ''too'' attached to Shaggy, as he frequently has displayed a possessiveness over Shaggy even going as far as to refer to him as "My Shaggy" and has been against Shaggy ever having a romantic relationship (In which he has even accused Shaggy of "cheating on him" when Shaggy was dating Velma) and has even been controlling of Shaggy's decisions. He has lightened up after Shaggy and Velma broke up and when Shaggy met Mai Lee, but then later went back to being possessive in the first half Season 2, until Nova came in the picture.

He has lightened up after Shaggy and Velma broke and when Shaggy met Mai Lee, but then later went back to being possessive in season Season 2, at least before meeting Nova.
