* PickedLast: Has happened to him so often that he really doesn't really think anything of it. He's positively stunned in "Sam, King of Kickball" when his savvy at the game gets him picked first.

* FormerlyFit: "Tito-Thon" sees him struggle with this. His old surfing buddies visit and sign him up for an upcoming triathlon, which Tito dreads, especially when seeing his buddies are all still in great shape. When last-minute exercise doesn't get him anywhere and faking an injury proves too shameful, Tito enters, comes in dead last, and is hailed by the main cast and his buddies for going the distance.

* UnreliableNarrator: Like Ray, Tito tends to exaggerate the flashbacks of him and Ray to get his point across.

to:

* UnreliableNarrator: Like Ray, Tito tends to exaggerate the flashbacks of him and Ray to get his point across. One time he did this deliberately (claiming he and Ray surfed 50-foot waves) as a way to motivate Otto into facing his fears.

* JerkassHasAPoint: The Rockets have been known to sneak into his swimming pool when he's away for extended period of time, so it's not hard to see why he's so short with them.

* NotSoAboveItAll: Frequently dismisses the antics of the main characters, yet he engages in his own silly behavior, such as his obsessive gopher hunt and marveling over a new piece of technology. That time where Twister thought he was an alien ended with him deliberately messing with the kids ForTheLulz.

--> Voiced by: Dale Dye
----
* AdamWesting: Dye himself was a Marine, so Ryan is essentially that type of personality as a lifeguard.
* DrillSergeantNasty: Frequently loud and barking orders, especially when training new lifeguard recruits. The ChristmasEpisode shows he's even like this when training Santa Helpers.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Despite his gruff demeanor and strict enforcement of the rules, he is dedicated to the safety of everyone who sets foot on his beach. He can be quite understanding of the kids and his recruits when the situation calls for it.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: A common element of his lifeguard training program is to have Tito (a former graduate) fake an emergency in the water as a final test for nearby recruits.
* SoProudOfYou: He congratulates Twister and Sam for passing the SecretTestOfCharacter and being the most improved of their class.
* TopHeavyGuy: His legs look scrawny compared to his muscular upperbody.

Added DiffLines:

* TheAce: Clio is a highly skilled figure skater and has demonstrated the ability to become an InstantExpert in sports without really training for it. She quickly masters ice hockey (though being a figure skater probably helped) and she became a surfer on par with Otto and Reggie after trying it for only one summer.
* ClashingCousins: Subverted. It seems this way at first between Clio and Twister, especially after she outs his first name (Maurice) to the gang and he mentions that she bugs him a lot. Despite this, the two are very close and she visits him and her family often, and Twister eventually gets sick of Otto putting her down and defends her to his best friend.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Played with. Reggie and Clio challenge each other to do their respective sports with both believing they are unable to do it, but Reggie and Clio actually both win when they compete, proving each other wrong. However, this leads to them gaining a respect for each other that leads to them becoming close friends by the time of their next meeting.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: Not her, but she's the one who outs to the others that Twister's real name is Maurice, which infuriates him.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Clio is definitely a little snobbish, brazen and opinionated, but she's also a plucky girl who loves to be social and in general seems like a sweet and caring person once you get to know her.
* OpenMouthInsertFoot: Her biggest flaw is that she just doesn't know when to let sleeping dogs lie, especially where Reggie is concerned.
-->Sammy: Your cousin's asking for it again, Twister!
* ShipTease: Despite his initial dislike of and jealousy towards her (and her frequent ragging on him) she and Otto share a few subtly romantic moments in "Return of Clio".
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the Girly Girl to Reggie's Tomboy, being more into graceful sports like ice skating and loves to wear nice dresses and being fashionable over competition and more "boyish" aspects of sports.
* SpicyLatina: Downplayed, but she can be very hot-headed, competitive and clashes with Reggie a lot.

* AngerBornOfWorry: His attitude towards his kids after either of them would get into trouble that would almost cost them their lives, which is usually followed by him punishing them.

Added DiffLines:

* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: This is largely averted, as he shares many of Otto and Reggie's interests, and they enjoy hanging out with him. Come Christmas, though, he insists on traditions that they've long since outgrown and now consider embarrassing.
* AngerBornOfWorry: His attitude towards his kids after either of them would get into trouble that would almost cost them their lives, which is usually followed by him punishing them.

Added DiffLines:

* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: His standard response to the kids getting in trouble, such as making them clean up the messiest dishes at the Shore Shack. On one occasion, Otto broke his leg while snowboarding in an off-limits area, so Ray simply had him sit on the balcony and watch everyone else do banal tasks. The sheer boredom of this drove Otto crazy.

Added DiffLines:

* TraumaButton: In the ChristmasEpisode, the kids bristle over his insistence on following traditions from when they were little, and he gets increasingly tweaked by their complaining. It turns out he clings to these old traditions because the kids' late mother loved them so much.

Added DiffLines:

* HiddenDepths: He comes across as a pretty chill guy whose only interest is running the skatepark, but he spent his summer earning his teaching certification.

* SmallRoleBigImpact: Although he played a small role in "Total Luger", Lars is still indirectly the cause of why Otto cheated against Twister. He showed his friend Pi a map of the track, and gave him instructions to cheat (which he was against), which Otto saw and heard. If it hadn't been for Lars, Otto wouldn't have taken the shortcut. * MomentOfWeakness: In the episode "Rainy Days & Sundaes", Reggie, Otto, and Twister make a huge mess of the Rockets' kitchen when they turn it into a slip and slide with sundae ingredients. When Raymundo comes home, Reggie (not wanting to miss the Junior Triathlon) bails out the window, leaving Otto and Twister to suffer the punishment by themselves. Reggie is left feeling guilty for getting out of getting punished, while Otto and Twister are, for the mess they all made. Even though Otto and Twister agree to keep her role in making the mess a secret until after the Junior Triathlon, Reggie spends the episode feeling guilty until during the Junior Triathlon she decide to leave the sport event and go to her father and confess to him. It turns out he knew all along that she made the mess with Otto and Twister, and was waiting for her to tell him. While he was proud of Reggie for telling the truth, he still punishes all three by having them work at his restaurant during a rush hour.
